The premise that automation/AI is going to eliminate low-skilled jobs is reasonable-sounding, and is supported by some smart people like Elon Musk. But is impossible to square with their support for also opening up the border to anyone with no skills from across the world, who manages to get there.

Great quote, I immediately thought of Goya's Black Paintings, which I absolutely love but I know a lot of people that hate! Hah. Then again, I also like Van Gogh, Which literally everyone seems to like.

I just can't muster any schadenfreude for this. I pity that we can't raise children without values and religion, or even the common sense of looking to the future. I have more scorn for the people who let those things be torn down or stood by while they got torn down. This of course, being basically a fait accompli at this point.

You might like the Avadhuta Gita. Literally, 'Song of the Free'. By Dattatreya, legendarily the first MGTOW. I'm especially a fan of his 24 teachers from observing nature: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dattatreya#Self-education:_The_24_Gurus_of_Dattatreya Also, if you are really into Indian tradition, you should learn Sanskrit. Once you learn the alphabet one way is to get read texts with Sanskrit and English side by side.

You're only as fast as the slowest members. Napoleon owned Europe for a time by figuring out separating Cannon and Infantry divisions meant infantry could go faster. The real answer is all-women divisions so that commanders can strategically act accordingly. I suspect if a war similar to WWII were to ever happen countries would figure that out pretty quickly.

Furthermore, pain and suffering is just what happens to a person when expectation and reality don't match up. If you want to take this idea further read up on stoicism as this is arguably the most essential idea of stoicism.

The dirty secret of the campus sexual harassment kangaroo courts is that they affect young black men to an overwhelmingly disproportionate extent.

Also worth noting that you can still enjoy solitude even when other people around. Recently went to an Art Museum and just getting lost in each painting for as long as you want is pretty amazing. That there are a few other people around doesn't matter if you don't let it.

Belief in free will has been found by numerous studies to make you much happier and psychologically healthy than believing in: Determinism Everything controlled by god. Everything controlled by rich (Democrats) or government (Republicans). At the extreme, conspiracy theories. Not to say that this is false, but excessive focus on it takes away your locus of control.

There is a direct reference to this analogy in the Tao Te Ching (John C.H. Wu Translation) 11. THIRTY spokes converge upon a single hub; It is on the hole in the center that the use of the cart hinges. We make a vessel from a lump of clay; It is the empty space within the vessel that makes it useful. We make doors and windows for a room; But it is these empty spaces that make the room livable. Thus, while the tangible has advantages, It is the intangible that makes it useful.

Similarly, when paternity fraud is discovered as an incidental finding of Genetic counseling, this will disclosed to the mother, but not the father. Surveys of genetic counselors indicate that an overwhelming majority (96–98.5 percent) would not divulge misattributed paternity results to the presumed father; sixty percent would include information about misattributed paternity on an informed-consent document. Therefore, genetic-counseling custom appears to support telling the mother alone, or wi…
