I think the video when I first heard of this incident showed how he was harassed for a long time before he eventually snapped. Not saying its the perfect decision to smack a teenager as a 250pound adult, but its not as depicted in the short click that starts with him pushing her and then punching when she comes back. It seems extremely shortened to support a certain way of telling the story.

Not sure as there are no details in that article and I dont know how these things are ruled in the US. However, maybe he said some racist things during police custody or in court and thus the impression was that he may have done it because he is racist.
