Thus earlier marriage = more time to have as many children as possible. Can’t have six kids (and live long) if a woman marries at 28, as the majority do now. So, because kids aren’t as important as back then, we are getting married later. More women are also seeking higher education as well. Pretty hard to go through school and take care of a kiddo full-time! It can be done, but is obviously not the norm.

Also, don’t forget life expectancy differences between then and now. In 1919 the average life expectancy was only in the mid 50’s for either gender. Now in 2019 it’s into the 80’s.
