Is she dating someone? My ex remarried immediately and when I looked the guy up he had lots of child support contempts with his ex on MyCase. I feel like she tried to squeeze more out of me to replace what he was losing as a deadbeat dad.

My ex tried something similar. We’re 50/50 legal/physical and I pick up a lot of extra days because I enjoy being a dad. I document all of the fun things we do together so there’s plenty of verifiable proof as I was concerned she’d try rewriting the past with our child like she did our marriage. I retained an attorney, there was a continuance and then I received a copy of a handwritten letter she sent the judge withdrawing her claims. You’re probably in the clear but always document everything. …

Precisely why you cut them off completely and give them zero head space.

Once you see the cheater for who they actually are instead of who you thought they were it gets insanely easy.

If they cheat, detach, lawyer up, and cut off all contact immediately. I fumbled through all of that which was moronic in hindsight.

Nah since she never brought up my guns I left the rings alone.

When I divorced I had about $400k in stock that I had purchased during our 6 year marriage. When it came time to divide assets I proposed she would receive her payout in 3 installments over a 6 month period so I could DCA out of positions. I also proposed she’d be responsible for 50% of capital gains on whatever was sold to make those payments. Thankfully she agreed but I kick myself knowing how much Amazon, Apple, and Google I’d be holding if she didn’t decide to take the term ‘work husband’ so…

Nope. I've learned to actually like myself and thoroughly enjoy the flexibility of being alone.

4 years in and it’s fun or nothing for me. I’m alone but not lonely.

Why would you speak to her about anything but your child?

I joined a ‘sugar daddy’ site and it’s shocking how many of the same women ‘looking for love’ on Hinge/Bumble are on it. Best decision I’ve made in terms of due diligence background checks.

I refuse to lie and laugh at people that tell me it's my obligation to lie. When my daughter brings it up I simply tell her there will be a time that I feel she's ready for the truth and I will tell her everything. Actions have consequences and at least my child will start out her adult life fully aware of that.

Patience. Same boat. She cheated with a ‘work husband’, I was dumb enough to forgive, spent tens of thousands on ‘wreckonciliation’ and finally realized the mask that fell off was who she really was all along. Took me about two years to navigate through the debacle I was drug through. In hindsight my life is exponentially better without the person I thought I’d be with ‘forever’. It takes time. Go no contact. Focus on yourself, learn what boundaries are, and never sacrifice said boundaries ever.…

I just realized in order to be the sane, strong, stable parent I needed boundaries quickly and I was done entertaining toxic. Much better for myself and my daughter.

Not at all. 50/50 custody and I haven’t spoken to or looked at my ex since our second mediation hearing. When my 8 year old brings up things they did when she was there it’s a polite ‘wow/that’s nice/sounds fun’ and I leave it at that. Never ask questions and never will. Communication is done via text/email/calendar and unless it is in regards to the health, happiness or future of our child I don’t respond or engage. Not my job to be friends with an abhorrent person to make them feel better abou…

Bingo. Mine was the one that ‘fell in love’ with the married coworker that ‘paid attention’ to her. Paying all the bills, taking care of the house, planning the 4 weeks of vacation per year, and being a dad to our then five year old somehow meant I was ignoring her. Oh well. Minus having to split the 24/7/365 of our child my life is infinitely better divorced. Only took me 2.5 years to figure that out.

Gather yourself, interview a few divorce attorneys, exercise and try as best as possible to eat, drink, and sleep. Don't confront her and do your best to act like everything is 'normal'. Meanwhile get your ducks in a row, your finances organized while you develop an exit plan with the attorney you've chosen. Dropping the bomb when she least expects it will make the whole process infinitely easier.

I’ll consider myself blessed to have 50/50 legal/physical without having to fight at all considering the horror stories I hear.

I can’t stand my ex and haven’t looked at or directly spoken to her since our first mediation hearing three years ago. All of our communication is via text or email only and I’ll do every ‘favor’ I can that involves helping my daughter or spending more time with my daughter. If the ‘favor’ only benefits the ex she has her old affair partner or her husband to help her. She didn’t waste one second being single after 13 years together and I’d never fall for her master manipulation ever again.

Mine made sure to take half and take child support from me (50/50 custody) before she got divorced only to immediately get remarried. Get out now while you can.

2.5 years post-divorce (6 years married/14 years together) and the thought of another relationship at this point turns my stomach. Completely content being a father (50/50 custody), focusing on my career, and traveling. I've checked out a few dating sites but they've reinforced my belief that being single is the way to go for me. Half the profiles are 'tolerant' women that start their bios with 'if you voted for xxxxx swipe left'. No thanks.

My wife cheated and after our marriage intensive my first requirement is that she wear hers. We’re now separated because she wouldn’t wear them consistently which led to arguments Funny since she wore a ring for two years before pretending we got engaged on her left ring finger and I can only think of a few occasions in six years that a ring wasn’t on her finger.

I already have. I also started working on myself 3 months before DDay because I suspected something was wrong and knew change was necessary. Right now my biggest concern is that she may have BPD (I reached out to our marriage intensive counselor and I’m hoping he presents her with the online test I found) and I need to be certain she’s of sound mind before I determine how I want to handle custody. We’re currently 50/50 with me journaling all the extra days she needs me to cover her. She’s also s…

My current WS is rewriting everything to avoid reality at all costs. My personal favorite is her telling everyone she felt like a ‘single mother’ to our 5 year old yet check ins/check outs from daycare, every doctor/dentist/optometrist visit has been attended ONLY by me since her 3 month maternity leave was up, dozens of ‘best father/husband ever’ shout outs on social media, and a Christmas gift from Etsy my 5 year old ‘bought’ stating ‘You are the best Daddy! I Love You!’ simply state otherwise…

It’s just an excuse for people that think the grass is greener. Folks that only tell their wants and needs to everyone but their spouses and then act shocked when said needs aren’t meant.

Let’s see. My wife is still ‘in the fog’ and I started suspecting things in early July. The first thing I did was start looking long and hard at myself. At the rate we’re going I will be a year into my own self improvement before we decide to reconcile or divorce. If we go the divorce route I might be 18-24 months into being self aware and will deeply invested in being an improved version of my own self. Seems most betrayed spouses that take some ownership in their demise are better prepared to …
