The CEO of a $1M company is obviously likely to get paid substantially less than the CEO of a $1B company, regardless of gender. The phrase represents possession in the positive sense, not that a lack of possession means anything at all. 1	Wage Gap Of course you don't lose all your extra income, you lose exactly the same relative amount of it that you were losing out of your initial income. This is why there really isn't any logic to the cycle. Anyone who is living exactly at their means is going to live exactly at their means whether they increase their income or not, and they'll still be losing the same percentage to child support, effectively doing nothing but working harder to give their ex a pay raise. If he is ordered to pay $5k per year in child support, does he work harder and make $45k per year instead? Well now his child support is $7k. So he works harder and now his support is even more.
