If they were using subtle "body language," we would expect that same body language would adversely affect participants in both the experimental (threat) and control (affirm) conditions -- again, this is false. 1	Masculinity, a Delicate Flower To directly answer your first question: no, they didn't. This was a controlled experiment. Second, the research doesn't having anything to do with "putting men in a box." The researchers didn't "redefine" masculinity for anyone, they measured beliefs about it.
