You don't seem to understand that circumcision is a tradition that goes back hundreds of years in many West African countries. As in people WILL have this procedure done whether you like it or not. Female circumcision has not been done for hundreds of years and trying to push it in countries where western interference is already looked at with suspicion would have much less of an effect than offering a service that people will get done anyway. In Keya currently about 5-6% of adults have HIV. That's around 1.5 million people. So a 60% reduction in female to male transmission rates is actually kind of a big deal. If you had bothered to read my responses you would have noticed that I pointed out the deeply rooted tradition of circumcision in many African Countries. I'll repeat myself and say once more that it's not as if the big mean western doctors came in and started chopping off foreskin left and right. Male circumcision is a deeply rooted cultural right of passage in many African countries. Female circumcision is not. Male circumcision has been done and will continue to be done for the foreseeable future. I'm not trusting the WHO study, I'm just echoing what practically the entire HIV/AIDS research community has been saying for years. This is not some fringe opinion, it's kind of a truth in this line of work.
