Personally I would never take a woman to dinner on a first date. What if you don't like her? Drinks are always easier to exit if it goes poorly. Never tell her the venue beforehand. The day of the date, you text her “(place) at (whatever time you agreed to), that work for you?” This allows you to confirm the date without coming off as needy.
