Trying to paint an accurate picture for you over a Reddit post would take a tremendous and unreasonable amount of time and effort (reflection, writing, editing, rewriting,etc.). So I'll keep it short and abstract. You're first impression of this person may be that you've just met one of the most intelligent, charismatic, attractive, and successful people you've ever met. And virtually everyone she meets will likewise be impressed (which validates your impression and willingness to continue). Yea…

Oh man. This is so true. So scary. When the subject gets discussed, I can always tell the difference between people that know about sociopaths/psychopaths at an academic level, and people that actually know what it's like to live with and be "close" to one. The tell-tale signs for the later group are overtones of hurt, confusion, fear, warning, an admission that sociopaths/psychopaths are completely unfixable, and an admission that eventually he/she will own and then destroy you, if you're not a…

Were you the OP? The OPost was deleted so I'm not sure. But I should have been more measured in my comment of "how are you questioning this?" Or whatever. My point was that when someone threatens to kill themselves if you do or don't do something that is a form of emotional abuse. Here's why. They are 1) trying to control your personal decision without regard to your welfare and better judgment: 2) they are doing so, not by evidence and rational argument, but by outrageous appeals to your sense …

You must not have read the support I provided to the other poster that says that VA is among a handful of states that recognize fault divorces. So right there you're wrong about your "only in NY" claim. This makes me question whether: 1) You really are an attorney. After all fault divorce and it's significance is an entry-level legal concept...something that regularly appears on bar exams for virtually all relevant jurisdictions; or 2) (no offense) You're a pretty poor attorney. Like any profess…

Nope. You're wrong. See my reply to the post just above yours. Edit/note: Analysis of your position can be found in a comment I provided below.

5 seconds on google: http://www.divorcenet.com/states/virginia/va_faq01 "Virginia is among a handful of U.S. states that still allow "fault" divorces. A "fault" divorce is based on bad conduct; one spouse must allege that the other was at “fault” for the divorce, because of misconduct that led to the breakdown of the marriage. The fault grounds in Virginia include: adultery a felony conviction and confinement following the conviction, and cruelty, willful desertion or abandonment." ... "Proof of…

You're near the mark but not quite there. This man is doing exactly what he should be doing regardless of which pill bucket (red or blue) he is in. He will have the rest of his life to analyze his marriage and change his behavior and approach to women. But right now, he needs to prepare for war, divorce war, and an actual video of infidelity is almost as close to a nuclear bomb as you can get. Collecting evidence like this is fantastic. In many US jurisdictions, infidelity often allows you to fi…

Collecting evidence like this is fantastic for divorce purposes. In many US jurisdictions, infidelity often allows you to file for a fault divorce (as opposed to a no-fault divorce). You're basically able to demonstrate (as far as the court is concerned) that the offender (e.g., the cheater) unilaterally destroyed the marriage, which can have significant repercussions in terms of how the divorce is resolved (e.g., how assets are divided). Depending on the nature of the fault, such evidence can s…

Um, she THREATENED SUICIDE. How are you even questioning this?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
