But he's the head and we're the hands and feet! The head talks for me right? (/s)

The way I see it: She's the one once you marry her, but just don't worship her, like others have said. A good barometer IMO: do you spend more time total thinking about God, your self/development, and your mission than her?

Wording is just bad, he obviously means it the other way around (since it's second in the list)

1 Online dating's a gamble. You might win, but it will take consistent effort. Probably 95%+ low quality people, even among the Christian ladies. I have met only one semi-quality women through online dating who seems to be Christian/attractive/FAT. It seems the ones with very low quality pictures (could barely see her) are better. Maybe that's a good tell. One thing I do is always ask faith and father questions on the first date. "What does God mean to you?" and drill down from there. And ask ab…

Thanks. Taking the lead as much as I can. I've been planning every date so far and giving as few hints as possible.

+1 to this. At your age, young adults church is perfect. There are plenty of young adults <24 in most young adults groups I've found. Once you get to 25-30 it's harder to find peers.

I didn't have as much of (1) until I worked hard to get (2) and started hiring a personal trainer. No smugness intended. "Get married without knowing why and just because you feel like it" I get what you're swaying now. Also the points of risk and feminism make sense. And 1 Cor 7 is a separate discussion. I have never really tried to make a clear justification for it in my mind, I guess, other than thinking "it's my duty to make the next generation better", "sex is awesome", "she could help me w…

I've got (1) and (2). And of course I want sex, kids, intimacy, and all that too. And so does everyone. And eh, consultants are OK but overrated. Since when does one need a rationalization to want to get married?

Sounds like you're saying two things in part: "Too bad, bucko, you're on the subservient end of the stick no matter what. Make the best of it and get her to chase you anyway." I think this rings true in modern dating. Focus on having her help you in your mission more than on dating her. Well I need a helper to cook, clean, help with my finances, bounce business ideas off of, help me run a non-profit I manage, and in the long run someone to help me decide my professional brand (teaching software)…

Me neither. Even if she offers to pay, I pay. And I kind of like it when she doesn't offer to pay.

First, thanks for the thoughtful response. What to do vs What not to do Agreed scripts can be bad. But they can also serve as useful guidelines. I think a big thing I'm learning from RP advice in general is that most of it sums up to "become a good man and you will act like all the advice tels you to." Do what you want and understand the pros and cons. I want to understand the cons of what I'm doing. I do pay for all dates right now because I think it's right. I want to communicate to women that…

It is an exchange, though, isn't it? I have no problem with just giving - in fact, I give too much and don’t expect back naturally. That’s why I’m trying to hedge against that.

That all makes sense, thanks. I may be overthinking things.

I'm not looking for 27, I'm looking for 21-24. Regarding finding someone fitting my parameters: I don't believe you. Just want to be sure I don't "beta out" and ruin it is all.

I paid a matchmaker, I use lots of online dating apps, and I go to church a lot. 2 girls from church, rest from online dating/matchmaking. And it's more like 10-15 lol

I've heard people explain it both ways before. Totally unsure which way is the right one here. I don't want her to be a leech. But longterm I do want a girl who depends on me. And it's not an issue for me financially at all to pay. So the question of "pay or not?" really is all about how it defines the relationship, how it appears to her, and whether it motivates leechiness or sends a 'provider' message from me to her. As I said, unsure. Would like to hear more people's thoughts on who pays. So …

> What does "long term" mean? I have never been in an LTR, so I don't know much. I guess multiple months, because I've never gotten there (I've always been so focused on my career that I haven't carried relationships forward, until recently). Longest I've ever gone is 4 dates. After 4 in the past I've either fell for her too hard and ruined it or have just phased out because I focused on my work. > Are you looking for a spouse or a girlfriend? Open to a good spouse if it happens. Looking for a s…

I definitely want to save sex for marriage. I also don’t want to risk looking like a weak giver who doesn’t expect anything back (as RP always talks about). I’m just curious how to do that healthily as a Christian. I know I can also expect loyalty and define boundaries on my terms. Not sure when to do that though.

In my experience, attraction is not only "there", it's also generated. And that's mostly lead by the guy flirting/teasing/some touch to express his attraction. That creates desire in the girl, and she responds with touch/admiration/respect, which creates desire in the guy. As you continue dating attempt to create attraction. And add a little touch to the teasing. That' show you lead as a man IMO.

Really helpful, thanks. Especially "Chad's Bar" section. It makes total sense to start dripping out the tougher questions earlier to girls.

Yep, Nate. Pretty cool guy. Someone you could easily underestimate when you meet, but when he starts talking you find out how mature he is.

First, thanks for the challenging and thoughtful response, Chuck. > Glad to hear that you've repented in this area. I'm praying for you. Appreciate it. I really need to get my spiritual life back on track. > The further you get from your school days, the harder it becomes to build and maintain a social circle unless you're very intentional about it. What are you doing to fix this? I'm not doing a great job making it to events, but I'm trying. I'm in with a guy at church who helps run a thing cal…

I would say careful doing everything at once: starting a career, getting a wife, ending college, all at the same time. What will you do after? What will be your "mission" after that? So many people get all the "standard life stuff" that culture expects of them together right after college then end up mostly aimless. Figure yourself out while single and figure out your longterm mission, then add a wife to that later.

Knowledgable about everything else. And in this case the ones I even consider are just "mild" feminists. But even that screams "danger" to me.

Is it a problem that I have never been in a relationship or kissed a girl? I didn't kiss a girl until age 27. Just about all I did with my life was work and do some ministry, until this year. Then when I did open myself to dating, I managed to figure it out. Trust me, dating and kissing is a lot simpler than the other important parts of your life. You're only 20. Calm down on the girls. Build yourself. Build your mission. Build your relationship with God. Find a vision for your life that will in…
