To me, it seems like morality is the basis of trying to sort out human interaction and find what is best. If you have choice in what you're doing, it's involved with morality. An earthquake is amoral, a disease is amoral, but something implemented by humans is dealing with morality, even if the people implementing the system decide to ignore morals. I mean think of all the systems of history that have been used to oppress people (e.g. slavery), and I'm not saying the Red Pill is as bad as those,…

In the U.S. isn't this part of the point of Medicare? And I generally agree with Medicare and in some cases don't think it goes far enough. You don't really need to single out "incels" with that though, I think society has a duty to all elderly people.

No, none of that stuff matters. I understand you will disagree. Sleep around all you want. But be fucking honest to your prospective partners about it.Applies for both men and women.Sex isn't this casual. I never said anyone should lie about it. Lying about things to get to sex is unethical. Of course, I also disagree with judging someone for their partner count.

Not caring is easy. Granted it's easy for me for four reasons. I don't experience much jealousy I don't believe partner count really says anything about values Not caring fits my political ideology I'd be a hypocrite to care Other people get jealous or insecure. For them it's probably harder. I don't really think that excuses judging people for their number or the hypocrisy of sleeping around and then judging others (which you may or may not do, but that does happen).

No one is shaming people for asking the question, they're shaming people for caring about the partner count. It just turns out the people who are asking the question are the ones who care about partner count.

I think you're taking the wrong thing out of those threads. The usual BP position is that of course some women enjoy being submissive, but there's a difference between submission and abuse. The BP viewpoint would usually add that RPers take the existence of submissive woman and over-extrapolate by saying an overwhelming majority of woman enjoy it because of biological imperatives. I don't really see anything in those threads that say BP people don't believe submissive women exist. The first is m…

Satire isn't necessarily about being funny. Satire is about holding up some part of society you consider to be vice and putting it to ridicule. Help me here Wikipedia: "Laughter is not an essential component of satire; in fact there are types of satire that are not meant to be 'funny' at all." For example, Orwell's Animal Farm sometimes came with the subtitle "A Contemporary Satire" but most would not consider there to be much laughs in that book. More modern non-humorous examples include the fi…

First wave feminism back in the days of woman's suffrage was all about equal treatment under the law. Second and especially third wave (a.k.a modern) feminism tend to move beyond the law though, with the belief that more changes need to take place in society than just laws. This is something you'll see in modern feminism a lot, the idea that the ways in which we treat each other need to change, but it's not about making a law so that doesn't happen but trying to modify the social structures and …

I don't think internet piracy is accepted in our society. It's illegal, for one. And my cable company sends me a stern letter every time I download Game of Thrones. I can openly say "I pirate movies" to anyone I know, including family and co-workers, and no one thinks worse of me. This is true for the majority of people. It's socially acceptable. None of which can be demonstrated to have widespread negative social impacts. Well, I mean, I don't think it would have negative social impacts. I thin…

There are lots of things that are illegal but pretty much accepted in society. Say, internet piracy. The majority of people aren't crying about the "moral crisis" of youth because they pirate (whether they should be or not is not the point, people just aren't upset about it right now, so the practice of piracy is socially accepted). There are many other examples throughout history. Social acceptance and legality are not intrinsically linked. Having a mistress is nothing like polygamy. A mistress…

Yeah I just come down on the individualistic freedom side of this argument. They're not hurting anyone directly. They might hurt someone indirectly, but I doubt it will be as large a deal as you claim. Even if it was (which again, you have not proven and I am highly highly skeptical of), I pretty much stand with the individualistic side in regards to relationship choices.

No, it should not be accepted. It presents a legal nightmare. We can accept something without encoding it into law. Have near forms of polygamy (like the mistresses you mention) that are socially acceptable without actually having the legal marriage available. My comment wasn't about the social impacts, merely pointing out that just because it is a legal problem that is not a good argument as to why it should be socially condemned.

No, it's not? Regardless of which position you pick, you're still prioritizing one person's happiness over someone else's. If that logic is twisted you are just as guilty. When it comes to relationships I'm incredibly individualistic and I suspect most people are. Would you date someone you weren't happy with if it made them happy?

Yeah, but OP is asking if it should be accepted, not necessarily if it should be officially legalized.

Yeah, I don't see why not. Relationships are not and will never be a communist utopia. I seriously doubt the doomsday scenario of your argument, but even it that were the case, that's still not a reason to stand in front of other people's happiness.

Yeah, that was kind of my point, that averages have to be the same? I can accept the distributions being different, but people quote the "women have more sexual partners than men" statistic all the time as a serious statistic, even though that's mathematically impossible. I would just like people to think a little bit critically anytime they see it.

By the age of 21 they have had sex with an average of nine lovers - two more than their male partner. HOW??? I'm amazed I'm reading this stat for like the 5th time, and again without an explanation of the math. If they are taking the average amount of sexual partners for men and the average amount of sexual partners for women, they should be the same. For every one partner a woman has, a man will have one. That is the way sex works. You cannot increase one number without increasing the other an …

There's this idea called the "narcissism of small differences" that theorizes we dislike the people who are almost like us more than we dislike the people who are nothing at all like us. That's usually what I think when I see feminists spending so much energy fighting each other. If you give them a 100 question quiz they would probably agree on 99 of the answers but over that 1 last answer they differ on they're going to fight each other to the death. This isn't restrained to just feminism of co…

This article is trying so hard to create a straw feminist and also pretending feminists all say the same thing about sex.
