5	My problem with "Believe the victim" Imagine walking into a police station and saying "I just saw person X murder person Y." That, as with any other crime besides rape, would be insufficient to convict person X of a crime absent additional fucking evidence. The cops would want/require at least some form of corroborating evidence. Moreover, rape shield laws prevent the accused from providing character evidence against the accuser. It's entirely possible that I'm mistaken, but, the specific case I'm thinking of is the Virginia Military Institute one. I don't even remember the actual name of the case.
