To answer your question, my primary struggle is consistency ==> Maintaining assertiveness and a non-reactive mindest in work/social/relationships/health/fitness. I still let outside factors affect me more than they should and get in the way of progress. Are you suggesting I articulate these challenges more? Asking as a legitimate question, this isn't meant to come off as snide.

OYS 17 Dynamic with wife is progressing in the direction I want it to. I'm getting less and less defensive/reactive and maintaining a fun, flirty attitude. One instance this past week where I over engaged with her emotions. When this happens, I realizing that I need to recognize it in the moment and realize it for what it is - usually my wife seeking some kind of comfort from me. Think and recognize before speaking is a good motto for me. A few other instances of comfort seeking that I handled w…

Yes, sales. Not sure what numbers you're wanting to see.

OYS 16 I'd previously spoken about the need to increase my assertiveness in all areas of my life. Recently was a given a work opportunity to increase my customer base. To convert the opportunity will require a lot of assertiveness, so a very timely test for myself. So far, have hit the ground running with this and will need to maintain aggressiveness while also balancing tactfulness for the next couple of weeks. Consistent at the gym, although dragged through a few workouts from really poor slee…

OYS 15 30s, married 10+ yrs with kids Focused on being assertive this past week, and saw both positives and negatives. I was more spontaneous with sex and acted on it when I wanted to as opposed to let laziness/tiredness prevent me from being assertive. Also maintained a fun/flirty attitude. There were a few instances of defensiveness from me - I'm continuing to work on eliminating that completely. Being more assertive and engaging in social interactions as well. In the past, I've let my energy …

OYS 14 30s, married 10+ years w/ kids. Refocusing on my goals after slacking the past month - haven't put enough focus on my social and sex life. Gym routine and intensity is consistent. About 6 weeks into break from squats and deadlifts, as I was having nagging back soreness and decreasing strength. For time being, replaced with leg press and Romanian DL - this has improved back pain. Will evaluate when to start back and sq/dl. Overall, focused on lighter weight and more reps (8 - 12 range vs 5…

Appreciate these thoughts. Will be reflecting on how to incorporate. My mindset right now is not to create dread for the purpose of altering my wife's feelings and actions. I'm improving myself because that is what I want in life. I realize this can create dread, and so be it if it does. If my wife changes her behavior because of it... well that is outside my control. I'm just focused on being content with myself. That is the idealized version in my head at least. In actuality, some of my "self …

Thanks for the link and insights. I'll think about how to use praise more selectively and strategically in the future. As you allude to, I don't want to lay it on too thick given there remains a lot more engagement/enthusiasm I'd like to see from her. In terms of "you do things so well", she is not there yet from a sexual standpoint.

OYS 13 30s, married 10+ years with kids Gym routine has remained consistent and intensity of workouts strong. Small strength gain in BP this week, while taking time off from SQ and DL. The past month, lifts for both of these declined substantially. So I will see if a month off will allow my back rest up in order to reset. In the meantime, supplementing with other lower body lifts. Sounding like a broken record, but no weight gain this week. Simply need to eat more. I will start drinking a glass …

OYS 12 30s, married 10+ years with kids The good: - Work is going well; staying focused, adding value, managing existing relationahips, bringing on new clients, and keeping pipeline of prospects full - Social calendar has been full and will be for remainder of the year; for the last few social outings, I have brought more energy and am enjoying interactions more - Actively engaging strangers in small talk when I'm out; I don't have any outcomes in mind with this, just looking for an entertaining…

OYS 11 30s, married 10+ years with kids Spent time thinking about why I am doing certain things and what I expect out of them... making sure I avoid covert contracts. When I do something that has benefits (including for my wife), internalizing no benefit from it for myself other than the action being done. So organizing the house, taking charge with my kids, cooking, working out, helping a friend etc... making sure I have no expectations of benefit outside of the action being completed. Admitted…

OYS 10 30s, married 10+ years with kids The good: - Maintaining consistent gym routine - Eating more nutritious food, ie fruits and vegetables - Consistent with my sleep routine and mainly avoiding restless nights; 30 min of reading before lights out has been getting me in a solid restful state - Social calendar very full this month with a lot of activities and get together - Focus at work has been solid; have a solid amount of new sales in the pipeline with focus on closing these opportunities;…

OYS 9 30s, married 10+ years with kids. The Good: - Another week with strong focus and consistency at the gym - Sleep has been improving and tiredness throughout the day is having less of a negative effect - At work, reconnected with prospect that had previously gone cold. Had a good conversation where I was able to provide value around his concerns. Stay on top of this customer until deal is closed - Also connected with large customer who had previously complained about costs. After my brief ju…

OYS 8 30s, married 10+ years with kids The Good: Week was filled with a lot of fun social activities. I'm continuing to prioritize this aspect of my life. Also going out of my comfort zone to be social with more people/strangers. Not yet where I want to be, but making progress and being more assertive. Gym routine has remained consistent as have intensity of workouts. Sleep has been improving and my nightly routine has been consistent. Focus at work has been strong. Speaking with a lot of custom…

OYS 7 30s, married 10+ years with kids Fitness BP: 8 x 185lbs, SQ: 4 x 275, DL: 5 x 325 Strength gains have stalled last couple of weeks. Travel schedule has made it hard to hit all my workouts over that time frame, but that is behind me and ready to get back to consistent routine. Sleep quality has been steadily improving - I will continue with a consistent night routine. Career One prospect I've been working on past month has gone cold. Plan on touching base every week until I connect with him…

OYS 6 30s, married 10+ years with kids Fitness & Health BP: 8 x 185lbs, SQ: 4 x 275, DL: 3 x 325 Minimal gains this week. For the last 3 weeks, strength gains have been moderating. Consistency and intensity of my workouts are there. Not eating enough though, so I will have more discipline in my slow bulk. Improved quality of sleep will help as well. Also, going to spend more time on delts and shoulders - visually that seems to be what's lagging. Career Focused on situations where I can enhance a…

OYS 5 30s, married 10+ years with kids. Fitness & Health BP: 8x185lbs, SQ: 3x275, DL: 5x315. Strength gains are coming along more slowly as I get back to my prior highs, but this is to be expected. I'm in a very good routine now where I don't need motivation to go to the gym... it's simply part of my schedule. Focus on slow/steady weight gain will now be most important component of strength gains... so need to build same discipline around eating habits as I've built with gym routine. Sleep conti…

OYS 4 30s, married 10+ years with kids. Fitness & Health BP: 1 rep at 215lbs, SQ: 3 at 275, DL: 2 at 325. Still in a consistent gym routine but no strength gains this week. Sleep was hit or miss, so figuring this plus a continued small calorie surplus should correct this over the long term. Had a few poor nights of sleep even when following a good sleep routine... screens off after 9:30, reading 30 min prior to bed, etc. I will try having protein shake not so close to bed time. Don't know if thi…

OYS 3 Mid 30s, married 10+ years with multiple kids. Fitness & Health 6', 175lbs, BP: 1 rep for 215, SQ: 5 for 265, DL: 2 for 325. Another good week in the gym and making strength gains. Last 2 months I've built discipline around my workout schedule. Recently I haven't had many interruptions in my schedule, but continued discipline will pay off when that inevitable does happen. Body weight has remained flat the past month, so will have increased focus on eating at a small surplus. Sleep has been…

OYS 2 Married 10+ years, 30s w/ young kids. Fitness/Health 6', 175lbs. BP: 215 (1 rep), SQ: 265 (3 reps), DL: 325 (1 rep). A consistent week at the gym. I was focused and had solid workouts. Sleeping improved this past week as well - building more of a routine with minimal tv/phone after a certain time. Will continue being disciplined with this routine until it becomes habit. Career Slower period this past month. I have a few solid prospects lined up for the next few weeks however and a game pla…

No good reason they're happening, just my inability to maintain composure. An area I'm working to improve. I'm familiar with the former, will take a read of the provided link. Thanks for sharing that.

I don't so much encounter no's, but rather the customer deferring to make any decision at all. Regardless, this is good advice I will apply in these situations. Thanks for highlighting.

OYS 1 Married 10+ years, 30s w/ young kids Fitness/Health 6' // 175 lbs. BP: 175, SQ: 255, DL: 315 I've gotten into a consistent routine at the gym for the past month, after a lot of inconsistencies earlier this year. Goal is a slow bulk until I reach 1000lbs across those 3 lifts - setting six months to reach this (Feb '23). Poor sleep has been an issue and a drain on my energy level. Going to create more consistency in the evening - no screens after 9pm, finish the night with reading, no eating…
