Speaking from personal experience, I met my partner on a dating app 7 years ago. I was a freshman attending an all women’s university on a basketball scholarship, and I was working part time at a women’s boutique. All I did was go to practice, go to class, go to work, rinse and repeat. Next to zero chance I was ever going to meet a guy IRL while in that routine. I consider myself exceptionally lucky to have met him when I did, and I saved myself from having to really and truly enter the dating w…

Still together six years later! Dated LD for four years, and living together now for two.

He was tall and good looking, and his bio said that he was “kind of a nerd” lol. But what really stuck out to me the most was how easy it was to talk to him. We skipped small talk pretty much entirely and our conversation never seemed to stall out. We progressed quickly to text and phone calls and talked pretty much constantly for a few weeks. Would stay up late talking about anything and everything, and listening to crazy stories from his adolescence. It was so effortless, and I’ve never felt t…

Never have I ever had a hoe phase, nor felt the desire to participate in casual sex. Definitely didn’t feel as though I was missing out back in hs when all my friends were dating/hooking up etc. I can’t speak for anyone but myself, but it’s definitely not for me. I met my partner 6 years ago and he’s the only person I’ve ever been with.

I met my partner online back in 2016. We from dating app, to Snapchat, to texting and phone calls pretty much every day. After a few weeks I decided to ask him out. We had really connected over the past few weeks via these phone calls, and I hd never even met this man in person, only saw him in photos and Skype calls. We met in person for the first time about a month later, and then dated LD for 4 years before moving in together. If I was single at this point in my life, I don’t think I would be…

I don’t have a ton of dating experience, but as a general rule I’ve always gone Dutch on the first date. No obligation, no pressure. I have a job and can pay for myself, and I wouldn’t pay for essentially a strangers meal, nor would I request/suggest going somewhere expensive my first time meeting someone. Subsequent dates I also wouldn’t mind splitting the bill on, unless the other party insists on taking me out, at which case I’m fine with the “asker” footing the bill.

I can concur. I’m very independent in my career, but I like to defer to my partner about certain things and follow his lead. Takes pressure off of me to make a decision, and I trust his intuition. And if nothing else we can come together to discuss a solution.

I have only ever been with on person, but I do remember years ago having a conversation with a girl I wasn’t super good friends with where she assumed I had much more sexual experience. At the time I just laughed and told her no, but I should’ve asked what made her think that about me. Obviously she perceived me differently than I actually am, or perhaps just assumed.

Some of my coworkers (woman a few years younger then me) were discussing this the other day. While I’m familiar with the idea, I had never heard it called “the ick” before. In their discussion it mostly revolved around cringey or awkward behavior that it’s they were interested in displayed, something that was off-putting enough to make these women lose interest. In this context it all seemed like very superficial things (being turned off by how a guy dressed, goofy drunken behavior being seen as…

What’d the reasoning behind you acquiring more girlfriends? Whether or not you have friends is entirely up to you. I don’t have a best friend, or even many close friends, but I have lots of friends in a colloquial sense, I rarely if ever hang out with them. As I’ve gotten older I’ve gained a better understanding of the type of friend I am, and I can’t be good friends with people who aren’t like me in that way,

A for me. I’m very traditional in a lot of regards and looking forward to marrying my partner and raising a family someday. In the meantime, we’re both working, going back to school, and I’m pursuing running my own small business, it’s definitely the dream, but I’m not in any particular hurry. Still young enough to enjoy life with just the two of us before settling down.

Honestly couldn’t say. He has a really good job and skills that he can leverage into making a ton of money, so there’s that as well.

I’m thinking specifically about that one Rihanna quote, but, you kind of have to be? Fake it until he comes the reality, bc the alternative is worse. Realistically there’s always going to be someone better in a given category, but there’s also people who are worse.

Ooo that’s a toughie. My partner is an engineer and overall just a super smart and very ambitious guy. I’ve seen both sides of the spectrum within is friends group: very smart “nerdy” guys who fit the stereotype of someone who works with computers all day and doesn’t have a very successful dating life. Meanwhile my partner is intelligent and very good looking, and despite being super nerdy himself has never struggled with dating or sex. Idk maybe he’s just weird tho.

Nope, he’s definitely stronger than me. I prefaced my whole story with a comment and how I prefer men who are both bigger and stronger, however.

As a woman over 6ft I’ve never been particularly attracted to guys who who shorter than me; always wanted someone who was bigger and stronger than I was, etc. I do have a quick anecdote tho: my partner is 6’7 and he has two best friends, one guy is 6’3 and the other is 5’6. When they were younger (hs and freshmen in college) the 5’6 guy had much more success with women than the other two, including being the first in their group to lose his v card, dating and/or having sex with more girls during…

My partner and I met on tinder years ago. At the time he had a blank FB profile (as you needed one to make an account) but never posted anything and had no other social media to this day. Didn’t really bother me bc I’m not a huge fan of social media either, I really only use it for my job, so I’d say that it depends heavily on the individual, although I can definitely understand it coming across as unusual not to have any social media in this day and age.

Not me making a comment on other post the other day about how some short guys are Intimidated by tell women (as has been my experience as a woman over 6ft) and being told I was wrong lol. I am not at all attracted to short men, but then again, most of the ones I know have a whole complex about their height and always made me feel awkward around them because of it.

Partner and I waited a year for sex. Partly due to my upbringing, but also the fact the he was my first relationship (sexual or otherwise), and the fact that we were dating long distance and I saw him only a handful of times that first year.

Agreed. I actually asked my partner out, but the fact that a lot of women (mostly younger) are either afraid to ask a man out or have to “wait for him to make the first move” is just silly. I get it, it can be awkward asking someone out, and being asked out. Some people are just awkward or too forward, it’s all just a learning curve and you never know how it will go unless you try. And I get it, sometimes an advance can be unwanted etc. but beggars can’t be choosers, especially if you’re on a da…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
