Maybe people are downvoting because OP is incorrect. The United States does not have paid maternity leave. It is unpaid family leave, which fathers have the same right to take. Or maybe OP is in another country? WHenever a new mom takes time off from work, most just use the term "maternity leave" but it is unpaid.

You do know that maternity leave is not paid in the United States, right? It is taken as "family leave" which a father has the exact legal right to take as well. Note: "family leave" is the abbreviated term. The actual legal act is "The Family and Medical Leave Act" signed by Bill Clinton. And FMLA only applies to large companies and full time employees. Court ordered DNA tests require that BOTH parents get tested. So that the mother cannot bring in a different baby and cheat the system. This is also why court DNA tests are more expensive compared to other DNA tests. They are performed in a controlled environment and require ID and a thumbprint and some testing fascilities take a picture of the person they take DNA from. Any attempts to cheat, I imagine would be prosecuted.

Any and all procedures on yourself or the child requires consent, as it should be. There is nothing denying a parent a DNA test on their child. Look up this story on Snopes. The father never overpaid. He was found in contempt for not paying child support as outlined in his order. Most women do not want an abortion and most women live above the poverty line, so welfare would be a big step back for them if they became a single mother. I think your suggestion goes too far in shifting all risk onto the female and infringes on the rights of the child to have both parents. In cases of accidental pregnancy each parent should provide equal care with no financial support given to either parent unless one negotiates their share if they are unable or unwilling. This would inhibit any motive to be deceptive by either partner and allow children to be cared for. Also provide incentive for both partners to practice birth control.

the father is not allowed to take this route by himself, yet the mother is. Adoption requires the fathers signature. There are some loopholes in some states, but fathers can and have blocked adoptions. And FYI to you and others that think a mother would not have to pay child support if a father "adopts" his child from the mother. I think it is a federal law, so the same for every state. My father stopped paying child support for me and my siblings when he left the country and my mom tried to implement the revoking of his passport since he owed about $10000 in back support. They kept saying that as long as he pays some and stays in contact with them, they wouldn't do it. So she could not get them to help her, so they must apply this inconsistantly. Safe Havens are places that have agreed and are capable of providing immediate care to a newborn, and then they begin the adoption process. It is not abandonment. Abandoning would be leaving a baby in a wooded or similar area and walking away. Safe havens are transfering rights and responsibilities, abandoning is not.

yes, fathers also use safe havens. One father placed nine of his kids in a safe haven in Nebraska and then he later went on to have twins with his new girlfriend. I also just read a recent article that suggests it is sometimes fathers who bring the baby to the safe haven location.

the important factor that needs to be considered is how often fathers ask or want 50/50 custody. It may be assumed in the MRM that all fathers would want this, but from what I know it is only a small percentage of fathers that do. I think I read somewhere that only a small percentage of fathers ask for full or 50/50 custody, which would certainly account for the high number of mothers receiving more custody.

In my state there are a few requirements about education levels of the parent and record keeping, but there is no official agency to check, so homeschooling parents do not need to report to anyone.
