I think we were doing alright until the 90's hit and authoritarianism resurfaced. It really gained ground with the recently disempowered religious right and then the subsequently disempowered radical left. It seems to really find popularity with groups that recently lost power.

Well, if the career choice he had in mind required a master's degree and this could keep him from getting into grad school, then not only had his future been ruined but at least 4 years and thousands of dollars had been wasted. Not sure; I'm from the USA and there is almost never anonymity in any trial (except in very special circumstance, like the occasional mafia proceeding). This one might just be inapplicable to the US though. Perhaps in England it should be afforded? In the US though, neither the accused nor accuser is ever anonymous.
