From what I've seen, almost every single American will get a brace fitted in their adolescent years. I agree with the vast majority of what you're saying but I don't think you can completely negate the effect that culture has on individuals. From my own experience, women in the UK put up with far more shit from men because that's simply the 'done' thing, whereas in the US it seems more like the done thing to be constantly taking shit from your woman and pandering to her every need. I also do the same thing but only in spoken conversation because then it (should) be immediately obvious from the way you're talking. It's much harder to detect that via text and especially when you don't know the person. All you ever hear about is the insane stories from over the pond about the complete suing culture they have over there... I also am fairly sure that their legal system is inherently more corrupt. Our white knighting might be bad but I found it to be far worse over there.
