Choosing to yield to your partner instead of arguing or fighting to get your way is an important part of any relationship. To me, it's saying that "this issue isn't more important than our relationship, I'd rather let this go than cause any friction between us." I can give an example from my own relationship. A few days ago, my friend asked me for a favor that was slightly risky for me. I was happy to do it, but I told her I wanted to check with my husband to make sure. He was absolutely not ple…

Personally, I would say I would rather marry the graduate. I'm kind of a by-the-book rule follower and I'd like to marry someone who also values that kind of stability. It's admirable and all to have that kind of confidence in yourself to drop out and follow your ambitions, but in the long term, I wouldn't feel comfortable depending on someone who took those kinds of risks.

Oh my gosh I love this so much! This is going to make a perfect gift for T, I'm so excited :)

When you say he's mistreated you because of it, what exactly do you mean? From your post, it sounds like you guys have had arguments over it, which isn't mistreatment so much as disagreement. If he's been getting violent or abusive or been degrading you, obviously that is a whole different issue with different solutions. But, if your main issue is that he disagrees with you on how much you work, you have a few options. The thing is, RPW isn't about staying home and just doing enough feminine thi…

Hahaha, well I'm a little too old for guessing games and I'm not really interested in a discussion where your annoyance counts as a valid point. Thanks for your input so far, it was interesting to hear!

Hmmm okay, so men and women process and argue things differently. I suppose I do annoy my husband sometimes when I get emotional, but then he also annoys me when he can't understand the emotion behind it. But we stay together because we complement each other (and love each other) and still add value to each other's lives. I don't really see why the differences you point out are an argument against marriage?

Yeah, I agree, sex is high in supply but true partners are rare and still in high demand. But, as many men are happy to accept sex and pornography as a substitute for real relationships, women can get fatigued and wonder if the work is worth it.

Your point about having more time to devote to your career when single makes sense in theory, but in reality, married men on average actually make more money than their single counterparts. Employers favor married men with families over single men. In the fields I listed above, divorce rates are also among the lowest, hovering around 7%. I get it; divorce rates today are staggering, and they should give men pause when considering what kind of woman they want to marry. But, marriage is correlated…

Hahaha well, that's definitely a possibility, but do you care to elaborate?

It's a sad reality isn't it? Most men today are in it for the instant gratification. That's why it's so sad to read MGTOW because while they have removed themselves from the stresses of the market, they've also closed themselves to the respectability and status that comes from marriage. While women definitely stand to gain more status when it comes to marriage, men are also taken far more seriously in professional fields when they have a family. The top five most likely professions to be married…

That was another thing I was hoping to discuss; solutions. I think part of the reason there's such a high marriage rate in my culture, even in the US is that even though sex is easy, it that respect is largely driven by marriage status. A man is taken far more seriously when he has a respectable family in our culture. I add respectable because the man's family is highly involved in the decision process as well. Without parental approval, most of these couples break up and parental approval is ha…

Thanks for that! Sorry, I'm pretty new to posting on Reddit so formatting, especially on my phone, is a little difficult. Yeah, I do think the author overstates how much sex men are having. But the author also goes on to talk about how much pornography has replaced sex and relationships as well. There's a lot of instant gratification that happens that makes the delayed gratification of a relationship seem like too much hassle.

I actually brought up the issue to my husband too, mainly because I wanted to hear his thoughts on the issue. We didn't get one but you should open up the subject to him and see what he thinks about it. He may be completely on board and not need any convincing at all. Just tell him what you think and why and go from there.

One of my favorite rituals with T is our cup of tea together on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. I have a lovely little glass teapot with a matching sugar bowl and creamer pitcher that T gifted me, and I love setting it up on a sturdy wooden tray with a bowl filled with sugar cubes and a few cookies and each of our favorite mugs. (I also purchase sugar cubes especially for this little ritual because I always think sugar cubes are so much more satisfying to watch melt in a cup of hot tea.) Whateve…

As long as the shorts are long enough to cover you, it should be fine! It seems like he and his friends are pretty open so longish shorts shouldn't be an issue. personally like this set because it's pretty casual but still cute, and I love lace.

I completely agree with this. It's so ridiculous how some of these people try to interpret their one week of high school or undergraduate level evolutionary biology lessons and then try to claim that they are applicable to something as complex as human behavior. I get that RP is full of angry men who want to vent, but why on earth are they coming over to RPW to spout more of this nonsense? If this place is full of women who are overcoming their basic tendencies, why would we possibly think it's …

My husband is in a medical residency too, with the crazy 100+ hour work weeks so I sympathize with you completely, especially since we're long distance too. I wish I could tell you that it was going to let up but you have to be the strong one sometimes and be secure in the relationship when he can't reassure you. It's great that he's committed so much to this relationship that he spent hours on the phone with you despite his work schedule but I think if you want to keep this going, you have to b…

To be completely honest, I kind of think you were in the wrong. I think it's great that you communicated calmly and your boyfriend was sweet to apologize but it kind of sounds like you seriously overreacted. And from the way your boyfriend reacted, first by caving to your suggestion and then by taking it back and then immediately apologizing when you got upset, it sounds like he was nervous about disappointing you. He was doing his best despite having a sore throats and told you what he wanted t…

In some ways, yes! I think once I realized how important my appearance was, I started to notice it more in men too. And I started to appreciate the guys who take care with their appearance more. But it also made me realize that those guys who spent forever on their appearance weren't really my type, personality-wise. Maybe it was reading TRP, but I started getting the impression that a lot of these guys who'd spend ages on their appearance and flirt constantly were too focused on themselves and …

It actually mattered quite a bit to me, mostly because I was a virgin and I wanted to be with someone who recognized how hard it was to stay one in our culture and made the same sacrifices. When I first started dating my husband, one big red flag for me was that he was no longer a virgin. In the end, we worked past it and are super happy but N count is still pretty important to me.

I talked about this with my husband (as a wayyyy in the future hypothetical) and going in, I thought I would want him to wait outside for all the reasons some of you listed. I would be in pain and gross looking, and who really wants to be seen like that?? But as soon as I said that, he laughed and stopped me and told me that no one was going near his wife or child without him in the room. That if I needed a surgery, he was going to be the one to do it. That if anyone tried to stop him, they'd pr…

Hi Pink lady!! Hmm sounds like you and your boyfriend are going through a slump. In your past post, it sounded like you were so excited and couldn't get wait to get married and spend the rest of your life with him. So what changed? The thing is, slumps are a normal part of the relationship. Fairytales aren't real with their happy endings that require no work. The newness and the butterflies of the beginning can get lost unless you actively try to keep it alive. Things that were cute and endearin…

Can you give us an example of what you mean? Are you asking for favors in a friendship? If so, the best way I've found to get someone to do what I wanted was to show them how much I appreciate it. Return the favor my bringing in a few cookies or cupcakes for them, thanking them sincerely etc. Try your best not to make the person who you're asking a favor feel like you are taking advantage of them and they will most likely do it!

For me, RPW is about respecting my SO's place in our relationship and choosing to be happy rather than right or politically correct. The main idea of this subreddit is that men and women are different, and desire different things in a relationship. There's a lot more info on the sidebar about these differences that would be more useful for you to read in entirety without me restating them in a comment. But for me, reading and being involved in this community reminds me how lucky I am to be in a …

I like the idea of small cards and presents! I was trying to do care packages but it'd get kind of overwhelming to fill a whole box. But I could definitely do a small card pretty often! Thanks so much, I love that idea

That's definitely true! She does have agency, and he isn't responsible if she sinks the ship. But gaining weight and taking the other for granted hardly count as sinking the ship, especially when the taking for granted was on both sides. They obviously take a toll on the relationship but it is no excuse for cheating. Cheating is most definitely taking a torpedo to the ship though, and that's never something that a good Captain should do.

Whoa Ashley, based on your post history, this is more than just a simple request to encourage your husband. It sounds like you guys have some pretty serious issues that you've been dealing with for some time. Based on your post a year ago, it sounds like your husband was pretty irresponsible with money when he was given authority over it and jealousy seems to be an issue too. I'm not sure if those are still issues for you, but they seem pretty serious to me. If this was just about encouraging yo…

I think you're asking about how to make friends with women? If so, female friendships are fairly simple. Just smile a lot, and ask questions about them! Try to keep the questions superficial first, and dependent on the context you're in (like if you're in class together, ask what she thinks of it). And remember the answers so you can ask about them next time. Be open with them too, share a simple funny story, and laugh easily.

That's what I keep telling myself, that it will fly by :) But it does feel like forever right now. It's hard picking what to open up to him about right now because it all seems small in the face of what he's doing right now. But I know he wants to be there for me. As for whether it's worth it, I really believe it is. As much as I love taking care of him, I want to be able to have an impact on my community the way he is able to. This is something I've worked 6 years for and invested a lot of mone…

Oh gosh, this is a really tough situation to be in. I can't imagine the pain you're going through now. Its really tough to look at your own life and see how you contributed to the problem so I give you props for that. Cheating is such a fundamental betrayal of the relationship, especially when it's an ongoing affair and not just a one night stand. It takes a long time to build up that trust again between you two. Personally, no matter how I contributed to the situation, I don't think I could for…

Family is my priority too! Part of the reason I chose my field is because I can still help people and my community while still maintaining a good work life balance. A lot of dentists go part time and can still support their families. My husband really supports me in this, and wants me to finish, especially since I'm so close and it's something I've worked on for so long. But I'm really looking forward to being together more too :)
