1	Comp Sci vs Engineer Since you posted this to asktrp I assume you want more of a red pill response to your question. IMO - I would go the engineering route first. You can always learn to develop apps in your spare or free time but what has more benefit on society and what will give you fundamentals and theory to work off when making apps of social significance?
