Out of curiosity, did your wife try to date you?

Feminism is not about equality. You can tell by the name.

Not to hate on single moms/dads but most people don't want to be a step parent.

What did you say to get banned on AITA??? That feels so ironic.

Then literally a guy in a white shirt comes to her aid. Fucking white knights are just as bad.

Thanks for this. This is exactly what I'm looking for - ways to negotiate rather than retaliate. Next time she uses one of those terms, I'll consider asking why she uses that term. I know 100% she listens to feminist podcasts so there is definitely a lot of propaganda going on here.

I'd get some video of her describing men so sweepingly and nastily. I wish I could but taking photos/videos without consent from management is against company policy. It's also against privacy laws to record without the consent of the other party.

She is leaving the company in less than 2 months so I'm not going to put myself out there for someone who's already on the way out. Also, I've been friends with this person for nearly 5 years and she's only started this behavior in the last 6 months or so. Ruining her career is not on my agenda. I prefer to negotiate rather than retaliate. If I could talk to her to elicit a paradigm shift, that would be the ideal situation.

I wish I could do this but it is against both our company policy as well as privacy laws. From how I understand it, you must have consent from the opposite party to record them in order for that recording to be accepted in courts.

I know this extremely well as I've worked at a company where HR was the absolute worst and never helped employees. If you went to HR with a problem, you were seen as that problem. In my situation, I have to tread carefully. I work in a female dominated industry and the majority of management here are females. As shitty as it is, I cannot risk identifying myself as anti-feminist unless I absolutely have to.

I've been working with and been friends with this person for nearly 5 years now and she only developed this behavior in the last 6 months or so. I'm really hoping to find ways to talk to her about this instead of going to HR. She is leaving the company in a couple months anyway so I'm not going to make waves for someone who's already on their way out. I'm more on board with negotiation over retaliation. If I could push a paradigm shift, I rather go that route.

It does create a hostile work environment. Unfortunately this kind of behaviour is tolerated as I've heard it from women in multiple departments. Fortunately, I don't hear it THAT often. It would just be great if I could say something subtle to make them think twice about what they're saying.

This is good. Short and sweet and doesn't call them out on the feminism but the racism. I like it!

I feel bad for her boyfriend. You can see how tired he is of her shit at 1:41. What's funny is Key & Peele has a sketch of this exact situation.

Perhaps I'm reading into the language too literally but it really rubbed me the wrong way when she quoted that women don't have the choice to cycle to work when they do. I am a cyclist as well and I do wish conditions were safer for everyone. Given the choice, I would 100% of the time stick to dedicated, barriered bike lanes where cars cannot enter whatsoever. Ottawa introduced these a few years ago and they were really great for all cyclists! I still wouldn't bike to work though because of the …

Those are some very good points and examples. I agree that there are way too many factors in play here, especially when looking at cyclists going to work. Instead of focusing on the weekday commuter cyclist, the author should look at the female:male ratio of weekend riders. I'm sure that the "gender gap" would likely narrow for these cyclists.
/r/MensRights23/03/15 07:55 PM

Like I said in one of my other comments, I am interested in seeing if female ridership would actually go up if roads were safer for cyclists. My guess is no. There are other reasons people choose not to bike other than safety. In response to your first comment, I consider this a men's rights issue because the author essentially spun a safety issue into a gender issue where men somehow have it better than women. This is untrue. Feminists (whether the author is one or not) need to stop spreading a…

I work close enough to home where I can bike but I choose not to. My office is casual/business casual but really leans towards casual. Even as relaxed as my office is, I don't want to show up sweaty/dirty because I personally consider it unprofessional. I have the choice to bike but choose not to. There is no hidden agenda against me. There is no gender gap. There is no lack of choice.
/r/MensRights23/03/15 07:39 PM

What I am interested in seeing is if female ridership would actually go up if roads were safer for cyclists. Setting safety aside, I wonder how many women AND men choose not to bike to work because they don't want to show up sweaty/dirty.
/r/MensRights23/03/15 07:31 PM

She's not calling for women's-only bike lanes but I think saying “We want to build a city where cycling is a choice for women" implies that women don't even have the right to choose whether to cycle or not. I just find it hilarious that the issue of unsafe cycling conditions has been spun into some sort of gender-gap issue. There is no gender gap here. If women choose not to cycle, that's it - it was a choice they made.

It is. Your drive way as well as the walkway leading up to your front door is considered public in terms of expectation of privacy. At least that's how it works in Canada. Just imagine this was a condominium where the man was standing at his door with his penis out. People on the street can't see him but people in the hallway leading up to their front door can, which is why walkways/driveways are still considered public space from a privacy standpoint. You own the land but you have no expectatio…

Totally agree. I'm only commenting in this thread from the perspective of a photographer since that's what I'm familiar with (legal rights of photographers). I'm not sure if what he's doing is legal or not but it's definitely inappropriate.

OP in the thread said "The way the houses are set up she has to walk by that window. Her front door is right in front of that window and there is a driveway separating it."

He is definitely more in the wrong than she is for taking the photo.

Actually, since the window is visible from the front walkway, he has no expectation of privacy and she isn't breaking any laws by taking a photo through that window. If she took extra measures (for example: climbing over a fence) to gain access to said window, then she would be invading his privacy. Since she snapped her photo from a reasonably public position (she didn't go right up to the window and press her camera against it.. now that would enter some grey area), she wouldn't get in trouble…
