I think often narcissistic abuse flies under the radar or doesn’t exactly rise to the level necessary for abuse support organizations to recognize it for what it is. She doesn’t hit me. She yells at me and threatens me but it’s very he-said/she-said. I’ve called the crisis line. I meet with my therapist regularly. I’m on disability leave. I don’t know that there’s more I can do.

I don’t know the answer but one thing that helped me was looking at people who had already been divorced and how often they regretted getting divorced. Turns out most divorced people are very happy with their choice. I was on the fence about getting a divorce before I started the process last November. I understand how you feel. For me, the divorce brought out the worst in her and confirmed a lot of my suspicions about what she’s really like.

I’m already seeing a therapist. I can’t imagine going through this without her.

I went on disability for surgery in Nov 2025. Eventually the reasoning behind my being unable to go back to work shifted from recovering from surgery to mental health issues. My ex became volatile and threatening. Her behavior was dangerous to me and my son and it led to panic attacks and depression and anxiety.

I feel that. I also feel sad that I was so intent on trying to see the best in her that I didn't realize how she was equally intent in seeing the worst in me. I always approached things as if I had a partner who was trying to get through things with the same effort I was, but in retrospect she wasn't even doing the bare minimum. I feel sad for my lost years.

Yeah. I think we need a support group or something because she is draining the life out of me but she presents to others like she’s a saint lol

I’ve never heard of them and can’t imagine what they’d offer that I couldn’t find using free resources on reddit and YouTube

Sounds like a recipe for disaster. Things may work fine at first until they don’t.

I can’t imagine someone going through and expensive, lengthy and emotionally draining process and then being surprised by it’s permanence.

I have a son and I’m going through a divorce with a narcissist wife. We are mid-divorce. It’s been difficult as her narcissism has gotten worse through the divorce. I have met someone new and she is part of the reason I am getting a divorce. I was in a dark place because of my wife. I felt unlovable. My girlfriend showed me what a relationship could be like. I feel loved, valued and appreciated in a way I never thought possible. We share a sense of intimacy that fills a void that I’ve felt for y…

I’m in Canada. My understanding is that the amount of spousal support is prescribed based on our incomes and not very flexible.

Has she been slow to realize her life is different and she needs to learn things? Or are you anticipating she will be?

Instead of posting on social networks where I do it, I'm just going to donate money towards Prostate Cancer research.
