2	Gender Studies Career Again I think that misses the point. It isn’t about YOU. It’s about other people. I think we can agree the terminology here is flawed because it inherently makes you think it’s about you. It’s about a larger social construct that denies social and economic advancement as a result of skin color. You may think it doesn’t exist but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t. 1	Gender Studies Career While I agree that things have clearly improved since like the 60s and 70s, I would disagree with an argument to say racism or discrimination is “not so much today.” Gerrymandering, redlining, police brutality, mass incarceration of black men are all still real problems today. All linked to generational poverty and racism. The problem is that it’s both a systemic policy issue and a social issue. 0	Gender Studies Career I think you miss the point. The concept is meant to imply basically that whiteness is like the default settings of society.
