I guess it’s more about not wanting to ruin your chances with a new girl because the ex wants to stir up drama. That very likely could be the case.

I got divorced about 5 months ago from a woman who has NPD. I don’t go around telling friends and family about it.

Even if it was a good idea it’s not fair to the new girl you’re seeing.

As hard as you may be, It sounds like you know what you need to do. Listen to what your gut is telling you what to do. It’s never wrong.

Wow, if the kids want you two to get a divorce that really means you should. I’d take that as my one deciding factor.
/r/Divorce_Men14/08/23 11:53 PM

Well that’s a good reason honestly. BPD is no joke. I also didn’t know that it could develop later in life.
/r/Divorce_Men14/08/23 11:35 PM

Yea. even if they’re not vengeful and trying to take everything you have it’s still incredibly difficult. I still talk to my ex occasionally and we still want whats best for each other even if we’re not together anymore. Usually the super vengeful exes are the ones who’ve been cheated on. Not always, but that does increase the chance tremendously.

From my very similar experience, she won’t turn into a viper. She most likely has a disorganized attachment disorder. She actually probably feels crazy and guilty but not vengeful. My Narcissistic ex was the same. Had two small dogs she loved to death that she basically/luckily dumped on me. It’s so crazy how they can up and leave into a small ass apartment and leave major life obligations behind. It truly is a childhood mental disorder

I’ve been in the house for 5 months. yes, sometimes the memories come up. Best thing to do it purge everything/ re-organize and do what you can to make the space feel like your own. Paint can go a long way.

That’s not ironic, it’s expected. Before marriage put a bean in a jar every time you have sex. After Marriage, take a bean out every time you have sex. That jar will be full of beans for the rest of your life.

There are cases of sperm donors having to pay child support once it has been disclosed that they are the biological Father. Depending on where you live there’s a chance you will still be financially responsible even if you sign a doc saying you’re not. From what I heard there are no contracts you can make that override a states ability to collect child support. Each one of your sperm is like a blank check with your name on it.

Would you drive a car without insurance? A prenup is basically marriage insurance. Now would you get in your car and head out on a trip with a 50% chance of crashing?

$400 Wife’s Idea to get divorced and since we had no savings she wanted to file an uncontested divorce and do it on our own. It was all done within a month and half since she decided she wanted to end it. Looks like I got off easy.
/r/Divorce_Men04/07/23 05:30 PM

She feels like it lowers her self worth that you believe she can be replaced. Women subconsciously want men to be devastated after divorce for a long long time. Even more so if she is narcissistic.

I usually lean to trying to work things out but this is too much. If you met her today knowing what you do now, would you start dating her?
/r/Divorce_Men02/07/23 01:51 AM

Oh Karma comes for them in the end. I’ve very rarely heard storied of women changing like this, getting divorced and then them living happily ever after. It’s usually failed relationship after failed relationship faster and faster until the end up settling on someone worse than they started with.

I honestly think hormonal changes in the mid 30s - late 40s play a huge factor. It’s also well known that even stopping / starting birth control changes the type of guy women are attracted to. Biological hormones change drastically around this time in their lives.

After just 5 minutes I have concluded that POF truly is the bottom of the barrel. It’s like if people of Walmart started a dating website.

%100 Ex wife was extremely attractive but that did not translate to a good relationship at all. If anything it made me hold on longer to a dysfunctional relationship way longer than I should have.

That’s your best bet honestly. If you beg her to stay it only makes her want to push you away more. If she thinks you’ll always be there as a backup it empowers her to move on knowing you’re plan B backup dude. It’s very hard to do because it goes against your instinct to try harder but it does work. Tell her you’ve been thinking over things and you support her decision. then tell her you’ll need space to process things and that it would be best for her to communicate through email when necessar…

The only last hope would be to go full no contact for at least a month. Let it sink in for her what she’s giving up.

There are plenty of websites, costs about $30 I did it to screen employees at work. It is %100 legal. I would totally do it if I were you. Can’t risk it.

Not your problem to deal with. Unless you have kids that will be around him. Then yes, go for it. You can also check the sexual predator website to see if he’s been charged with anything like that. Very unlikely but worth a shot.

I think it would be considered as slander if she tried to smear you publicly. who cares anyway if she did. That’s probably just a scare tactic.

yep, ex would consciously or unconsciously sabotage your new relationship. And even if she didn’t the new girl would not be happy.
/r/Divorce_Men06/06/23 04:44 PM

yes, I got laid off 2 weeks after getting divorced and that’s what actually caused the most instability. Hoping to get something soon though..
/r/Divorce_Men06/06/23 03:51 PM

Maybe you could get a prescription for Ritalin or another AdHD med. It would be much safer and could stabilize you better.

My ex completely ruined my love of photography. She didn’t care to ever look at any of my pics and if I ever tried to take a nice pic of her she would turn into a complete bitch and complain about every little detail and say I was doing it weird or wrong. They hate to see you passionate about anything other then them. I also realized as I was going through divorce that she is a complete Antagonistic Narcissist.
/r/Divorce_Men04/06/23 03:58 PM

Fuck. just shows how most women are dream killers.
/r/Divorce_Men04/06/23 12:54 PM

whenever she put my clothes away she would hang my shirts inside out and backwards half the time and put the rest in whatever drawer she felt like. I told her I would just do it since it was always done super shitty but she would just keep doing it like that. This is just one of the hundreds of things but for some reason this one popped into my head right now.

Look into Apigenin. It’s the main compound in Chamomile tea that makes you sleepy. You could also bump up the melatonin to 3-5 mg. Ideally though, reset your circadian rhythm by Going outside right when you wake up and look at the sky in the direction of the sun (obviously don’t look directly at it.) Then the next natural benefitial was is to work out hard during the day and make your body tired. This will help sleep and also work as a natural antidepressant.
/r/Divorce_Men03/06/23 02:16 PM

It would be pretty off if you had absolutely no regrets. Even in bad situations people feel like they could have done things differently.

My dad went on a lot of business trips when I was little. Was gone for a week or two at a time every other month. even that messed me up. Your kids will constantly be thinking about you and wondering when you’ll come back. You’ll also trigger abandonment issues in them for sure.
/r/Divorce_Men29/05/23 02:45 PM

Honestly it sounds like no hope to turn this into a healthy relationship.
/r/Divorce_Men28/05/23 01:56 PM

Text him a few times a day if you can.
/r/Divorce_Men19/05/23 03:06 AM

whatever you do, learn from my mistake and don’t try to self medicate with alcohol to feel better. It is a depressant and tricks you into thinking it helps. I just got divorced and laid off 2 weeks after.

yep, same thing. After 13 years she could finally support herself she just decided it was over. I honestly think it’s hormone based to ditch a guy who hasn’t provided a child even though they don’t want it too.

Yep, I honestly think most of the time it has to do with hormonal changes. Right around 40 woman seem to completely change. switching Birth control has also been known to change the type of guy woman are interested in.

I’m in a shitty situation right now too. Just got divorced and laid off in the same month. DM me if you want to chat.

I married a non US citizen 13 years ago. Within the first three years in the US before getting her citizenship we had many bad arguments. She became very controlling. I had to go along with it since I knew if we broke up, I would be on the hook. She threatened to leave many times and I would beg her to stay and reconsider. She got the citizenship and after that I was so accustomed to do what she said I stayed in a controlling Marriage. It all recently fell apart and we actually submitted divorce…

Have you watched the youtube channel Narcdaily? It has really helped me understand what happened and realize what I actually went through. My Wife made me cut ties with my parents for over a year. Then when my Brother passed she didn’t even go to the funeral. These people are evil.

I’m currently getting out of a Narcissistic relationship. It’s funny how you see everything clearly once it’s over. Best way to describe it was like joining a cult. She separated me from friends and family, Convinced me to get rid of most of my possessions to move across the country and I basically had to go along with everything she said. I’m just glad that I never had kids with her.

This sounds exactly like me, I’m 39 and with 2 dogs. Wife is the same. Always has a handful of problems and things for me to fix. It’s overwhelming. I’m remodeling the whole bathroom on my own with no construction background. i have a full time job too and she complains it’s taking a long time. I told her I would only be willing to do it if she didn’t complain about how long it would take. Then on the weekends she always has other plans for me and things she wants me to do, Build garden beds etc…

/r/Divorce_Men19/02/23 11:46 PM

I’m actually also planning on helping my stbx of 13 years move out to her own apartment. She relied on my to do everything and keeps asking questions about things she’s going to have to do on her own. Shits tough but I’m now starting to see how controlling and unhealthy our relationship was. It does also make it easier that I don’t have any kids.
/r/Divorce_Men19/02/23 02:51 PM

Married 13 years, no kids. Still hard but that would be 10x worse for sure.
/r/Divorce_Men17/02/23 05:41 PM

Also Male dogs who are fixed are way more chill. Last thing anyone of us needs is another bitch

I knew even sooner than that. Right after we signed marriage paperwork outside the courthouse I held her hand and she let go right away… 20 min after.
/r/Divorce_Men01/02/23 07:40 PM
2

I’m in the exact same position. I think I stayed in a bad controlling relationship all because she was so attractive. She was a 10+ and always the hottest girl in the room. I have come to the conclusion that looks aren’t everything a man needs from a marriage.
/r/Divorce_Men31/01/23 01:47 PM

My wife just signed a year lease for an apartment on her own. Said it’s done but hasn’t really said anything about a divorce.. I’m in FL with no kids

Do you believe this man deserves 5 years in prison? I was under the impression that a photographer can take pictures of whomever and whatever they want in public as long as it doesn't invade the privacy of other, EG taking pictures up a girls skirt. This wasn't an invasion of privacy because the girls were proactive in exposing themselves to everyone. The Police officer should have just made the man delete the pictures. I'm sure he would have gladly done it after he found out they weren't of age…
