Like I said earlier, I was sexually assaulted twice before the age of 18. In both cases, the cops talked me out of pressing charges. No matter where I go, I never really feel safe. Others have been falsely accused, and are left out to dry, ostracized and robbed by the system. I said before that neither of these traumas should be devalued compared to the other, and I'm saying it again for you now. Priorities are subjective. Don't devalue mine by saying they aren't straight.

I agree and disagree. True, prosecuting false rape accusers does not keep real victims from coming forward, because they only have to be worried if they are lying. And ideally law enforcement shouldn't be let anecdotal evidence change the way they interview victims. But the importance of psychology cannot be underestimated here. I'm saying that even a purely self-interested feminist can see that this is a bad thing because of how it affects women. Most people's logic is based on self-interest. I have posted elsewhere on this page that false rape allegations are extremely damaging to men's lives, which you would have read if you scrolled down.

I do challenge non-egalitarian feminists, all the time. And I have many friends that continue to call themselves feminists because, like me, they hope that they can "take the word back". As for proving that I support you.. I don't really have anything but my word, and the fact that I have taken a lot of time to think about these issues and discuss them.

While you could have found a much less patronizing video, I understand the points raised. I guess it just irks me that more open-minded Christians, for example, can disespouse their ties to "those other fundamentalists" who have backed egregious human rights violations while still being called Christians, while I have to change what I am called because some other people fucked up.

At the risk of getting downvoted even further, I think the word "feminist" has been corrupted from its original definition (one who supports equal rights for men and women) to include connotations of rage and bigotry. It just makes me sad as a feminist to hear the word used that way, when I (and true feminists) agree with many of MR's central tenants.

I don't think any respectable feminists deny there is such a thing as a false rape accusation. And we don't think it's "no big deal" either; false accusations of rape make it all the harder for real victims of rape to come forward, for fear of being labeled a liar.
