Agreed. I meant OP no disrespect. It can take a little time to have things in order to move, whether that is liquid funds, finding the right apartment and timing it’s availability if someone is moving out or just timing things so she can use accrued vacation to take off the time needed to physically pack and move. She might have all of these things available today and be good to go.

I’m 39F, married, and I hear the complaint that the “cute girl next door” doesn’t exist any more. Could this be your niche or your style? Men certainly are drawn to it. The cute girl next door is clean, tidy, smiles, laughs readily, is kind, has natural colored hair, wears natural makeup tones and is just an all-around sweet girl with positive things to say, wholesome hobbies and interesting things going on in her life. My younger brother has taught all the teenage nephews that girls with skittl…

I was just going to say “gifts are clearly not his love language”! My husband (43M) is a little like this and my #2 language of love is gifts so I can give some insight. My hubby doesn’t like the forced expectation of giving a gift. Heavy-expectation, consumer-ish holidays like Christmas and Valentine’s Day annoy him. BUT every other day of the year he’s amazing. Last weekend he bought me a pomegranate tree and planted it in our yard just because I saw it at the nursery. He builds me beautiful l…

I agree with everything written. As a 39F I can say that my friends size 6-8 get the most male attention and have for years and years. Many a time we have had our girl’s night out conversations interrupted by someone cat calling one or another of us. My size 6-8 friends look lean but still have boobs & butts and thigh curves. I’ve noticed that ads geared towards women show ultra thin size 00 to size 2 females. Yet ads geared towards men (think beer ads and such) feature buxom size 6 women, maybe…

I think those who are born with the gift of beauty understand that they did not labor in advance for it or earn it by a choice they made; it just happened to be in their genetic coding at birth. Because of this, they understand genetic good looks is always just a roll of the dice and that it is what they choose to do that determines true beauty. We can choose to be kind, honest, and helpful to our fellow human beings. Such a heart of gold is incredibly beautiful! Also, naturally gorgeous people …

As a female, I recognize my own gut-level instinct that makes me momentarily bristle at the feminine woman my age who looks remarkably fit and well put together because instinctively I know men are incredibly drawn to that. I can logically dismiss the bristle - I suppose the involuntary reaction is there to protect my marriage from being wrecked and my child from being fatherless - but I understand that feeling on the rare occasions it happens. All women experience it (this is why some female “f…

Yes, yes, LOL, I should have mentioned a small smile in public! But for real, I might have to try the deranged huge smile some day just for laughs 😂 Masks are ruining all my best laid plans 😆

The book Fascinating Womanhood had a couple tips but the short answer for me was to have a ready laugh and to identify the humor in things quickly. Giggles are feminine! I tried to train myself to lightly laugh (if appropriate) after gasping “Oh my gosh” when something unexpected happened. I also give myself permission to smile in public. Literally walking around just smiling for no reason like a happy person - which people don’t seem to do much any more, even before masks. I like doing that bec…

My family has a very old pastry dough recipe. It was received from an older friend of my mother’s who had it as a special family-crafted recipe. It is thought to be close to 200 years old, with a delightful flavor. The ingredients have been updated to modern US measurements. This was made every Christmas morning until my mom grew exhausted when I was 14 and we went without it. At 15 years old, I copied the recipe from a very worn and faded sheet of old paper and began the tradition of making thi…

I’m an ex-Mormon female so I can give you some advice. First, if you are hoping for sex it is not likely. The Mormon religion really drives it home to girls that they need to wait until marriage or they are “chewed gum that no one wants”. (Yes, that is what they tell teenage Mormon girls during Sunday school lessons.) If she doesn’t wait to have sex until marriage, there are shameful consequences for her at church. These are very real and very public for her, even though the religion is a cult. …

I really do understand your perspective. You mentioned female cheating, which I think has become an epidemic. I don’t like it either. As a female who wanted to one day marry and have children, I remained a virgin and did everything my younger self knew to show a man that I was interested in being a good, honest, faithful, long-term spouse. My husband was not forced to propose; he was the first to hint about marriage and he popped the question. We did not get pregnant with our first child until 6…

Run, girl. R U N. Forty thousand is evidence of a monumental gambling addiction. You used words like rarely uses (but still uses) and relapse (as in, this has happened before). These are not good signs of a healthy man, a healthy mental state or a healthy relationship. Contemplating suicide is evidence of a serious mental issue needing therapy (that will likely amount to thousands of dollars as well). And that is if he can keep himself out of trouble with drugs, additional gambling, loans, furth…

Don’t underestimate food gifts - they really are wonderful to receive! Especially if it is something you can only get locally. Is there anything delicious and unique that you’ve seen at a farmer’s market? Do you live near a really good natural honey farm or pecan farm? A natural market near me imports small batch artisan olive oil (incredible flavor that is impossible from the best grocery store bottles!) that would be superb with a loaf of bakery bread. People don’t always splurge on themselves…

You really are doing amazing! I feel like I’m reading the opening pages of a sweet love story - like the guy is going to step into your life at any moment! Everything you are doing is ideal. Beyond ideal. Go for the things that truly make your eyes sparkle with happiness. Wine tasting and traveling sound dreamy! (And I hear that rock climbing gyms & clubs are good places to meet active single guys. Your fitness level would give you a great advantage.) If you are spiritual, maybe pray and ask God…

That was exactly the case with my friend who was offended by one winky face in a text. Unbeknownst to me her husband had been caught having an emotional affair a couple years before and at the time was actually having another one. His wife was picking up on the clues and everything any female did was suspect. I’m sorry she’s acting like that.

I’ve seen this several times and insecurity about the marriage relationship is always at the root. A number of things could be going on behind the scenes. I will say that if you feel the smallest amount of attraction towards her husband, she has picked up on it. And in that situation it is wise for a wife to not invite the attracted woman into their lives in any way. Out of OP’s control are other things that could be going on: OP herself is physically attractive and wife feels insecure because h…

Thank you for writing this hard truth. I wanted to wait for marriage and did. My husband (also a virgin) proposed after 9 months of dating. We will celebrate our 20 year wedding anniversary in January. It was not easy to abstain and wait but in the long run it is much easier than heartbreak. I was very lucky to be warned by female family members in advance about guarding my virtue until marriage. When a man is in love, the thought of another man having the woman he adores troubles him deeply. He…

I’m 39F with friends who have divorced so I’ve seen the real difficulties and fights first hand. I am so sorry for what you have experienced. Men are often remarkably polite, not wanting to push for uncomfortable personal details on a date. A concise phrase is going to be best for an initial explanation as to why you are divorced. Spoken gently, something like: “My ex-husband was my first sexual partner so I was slow to remedy the personal mistake I had made in marrying someone who later admitte…

I did talk to him little by little! His step-father was not very kind or loving towards him. The SF worked nights so all summer would scream at the kids (teen boy & sister 2 years younger) if they were loud while he was trying to sleep during the day. The sister was better about entertaining herself inside quietly. The teen boy would come sit on our porch to get away from his step father’s anger and stay out of trouble. Our house was across the street and five houses down from his; I remember ma…

I’m 39 years old, also the daughter of a narcissistic mother. My dad enjoyed working and worked long hours away from her, which I understand but he could have protected us more from the physical abuse and beatings she doled out frequently - almost daily - until my teenage years. She was a stay at home mom but I wanted to break the cycle of abuse. I married a wonderful man and we had one child (male factor infertility prevented us from having additional children and IVF failed). I enjoy raising m…

Years ago I actually learned from a psychology lecture that it is women who usually do initially spark the chase! But it is done very subtly, almost unconsciously on our part. We are the ones that make eye contact and hold it a fraction of a second too long (showing interest) or glance away and glance back (showing interest). We give the guy a smile. He takes all of these little cues and then makes the first move. But we actually did our part to invite that first move! Men are visual creatures s…

I’m going to agree with the advice you are being given here. It all boils down to self-improvement. If you have identified this tendency in yourself and desire to change it, do the research and mental work to improve yourself. (This will likely involve some journaling. Taking up bullet journaling or art journaling can be a great hobby to go along with this if it interests you.) It is self-improvement that gives you the confidence to feel like you are an equal partner worthy of love. You seek out…

I am so, so sorry about your future Mother in Law. You might want to research how to deal with narcissists (YouTube has great videos by therapists) because I’m seeing some behavioral red flags. My mother is a narcissist who acts similarly to what you described. My brother also wanted to marry someone kind, patient, gentle, loving, caring and feminine...which was the polar opposite of our mother. He did so. Be aware that this woman’s behavior will always have the potential to cause problems in yo…

One of my best friends divorced a controlling husband she had always been miserable with. She was taking the time to take care of herself, going to the gym and to her therapist regularly. She was at the gym one day when she was introduced to a divorced guy by a mutual friend. She was polite but because she knew she needed to improve herself and heal, she didn’t give any indication that she was interested in dating. That “improving myself right now” vibe she gave off was like a hit of a drug or a…

I don’t think we are ever happy with ourselves! I’m naturally large chested and my boobs sweat like crazy. Imagine having two slowly leaking water balloons soaking your sports bra so nothing stays dry if you’re outside in any kind of hot weather. Beyond miserable. Plus the genetic coding that seems to cause fat deposits in the chest area also seems to cause fat deposits on the back and arms - like fat deposited all the way around the body at boob level. (This is very true of my body and it’s ann…

Be as gentle as possible because he will play every word over and over in his mind, wondering what he did wrong, and will likely repeat your words to mutual friends. He may not want to be friends with you after being rejected as a love interest (or may not want to be friends at first). That’s okay. Try to say whatever you would want someone to say to you. Do point out his desirable qualities and mention that ‘logically’ you should be head over heels for him but you haven’t felt a level of chemis…

This! I think getting to know a person makes them more beautiful. But there does need to be a “threshold” so to speak of attractiveness that includes cleanliness and general hygiene/grooming. When I first met my husband I thought “hey, he’s kinda cute!” I got to know him and he seemed much more attractive as I fell in love with him.

My husband has male factor infertility so we were only able to have one miracle. One child is pretty easy. You are able to make a significant investment into their education and well being. The child usually is close with their parents so long as they are not spoiled. (Learn to say no a lot, encourage working & saving even if you could buy them everything.) I would have loved to have had two children but one has been a lot of fun. It has allowed me time to balance part-time in-home work, I am we…

When I first began reading, I was going to ask if you were gorgeous. Model? Check! Yep, gorgeous! Alas, men do find this hyperventilatingly intimidating. It really is okay to be the first person to say Hey or say something to open a conversation. Today’s society has made it almost unsafe for men to approach women so they appreciate the help here because no one wants to be labeled a creep. Let me tell you the secret I finally learned. My suggestion would be to try some personal experiments and social experiments as you practice different aspects of femininity. Like wearing dresses/skirts, speaking gently, deliberately smiling (not easy behind a mask) or brightly colored makeup & nail Polish vs natural makeup & nude toned nail polish. Did you feel different about yourself? Did others treat you differently when you were at the grocery store? Did your inner glow at feeling better about yourself impact how others treated you? Wha…

I’m female, just found this sub and had a similar reaction myself! I thought I was a dying breed being married to my only sexual partner and enjoying motherhood, home making/house keeping, budgeting, increasing my femininity and continuing self-improvement. Keep looking for a sweet young woman who embraces self-improvement and was raised by an “old-fashioned”, feminine mom. They are out there!

I met my future husband at 18 & a virgin my freshman year of college. Keep your cool if she tells you about someone she met and it seems serious. You may need to be fully okay with her marrying young. (I was 19. Hubby & I are celebrating 20 years married, 21 together!) My dad kept his cool and was supportive, which really helped.

Interesting advice from the dating coach! I got married young so by the time FB was invented and I joined (2005) I had already been married for a few years. My account naturally had very few male friends and 99% of those were my friends & neighbors husbands who we were couples friends with. I see wisdom in being choosy about which guys are your social media friends for a multitude of reasons. But I think it will be your overall femininity and personality that enchants him. 😊

“Women don’t love men as much as men love them.” I’m female and beginning to suspect this is true, even though I love my husband. I feel like my love is spread around more between him, our child, family, the animals under my care, etc. Where can I read more about this phenomena?

My husband and I were married 6 years before we got pregnant (now married 20 years) so I understand this question completely! My initial pieces of advice might seem silly but the short answer is that you can use your skills and effort to create a space that is peaceful because you are there, gracefully seeing to the care of everything around you. Men love this; you and the home atmosphere you create become his safe haven and you, yourself, his treasure. The woman truly is the heart of the home. …

You will! And it happens when you least expect it. A friend had invited me to a Thursday night Halloween party and I turned her down because I had reserved the entire evening to write a paper due the next day. I was done with the paper in an impossibly short amount of time. She called right before the party to check just ooooone more time if I wanted to join her and I said okay and went. I’m so, so sorry about your mom. It is wise for you to take the time to reflect on these things and how you feel. My mom was honest with me when I was a teenager, telling me she began having sex at 15 (around 1975) and felt uncomfortable about that now as an adult. She said she felt dirty afterwards, ashamed of her choice and then she made fun of virgins because there was no way to get her own virginity back. That stuck with me. I didn’t want to feel bad about myself. (Let me add that I was rais…
