Just answer the question you idiot. When you talk about mens' rights, why exclude India and China? Is it because there is some logical reason or is it because it's a fact you don't like?
/r/MensRights27/01/24 05:45 AM
1

Yes, exactly. Why are you excluding China and India from the discussion? Is it USMensRights?
/r/MensRights27/01/24 05:02 AM
1

What's your point? Are we only talking about certain places now? Why is that appropriate in a broad discussion about female and male rights?
/r/MensRights27/01/24 04:53 AM
1

Wow. That's damning to your own argument because I said in the feminist sub that privileges are as important as rights. Because I believe that women have a lot of privileges but not any real legal rights men don't.
/r/MensRights27/01/24 04:18 AM
1

You keep brining up individual situations to prove broad points about millions of people. No, I wouldn't say Andrew Tate has a monopoly on people who believe in mens' rights. He doesn't get to define what I believe. Donald Trump doesn't define what it means to be American. Also, to your point about one woman saying something about men as proof.... what about the 2 million plus infant girls that are killed every year because they are less desirable. Under your own logic, that would indicate the w…

I haven't found that. I have found roughly the exact same proportion of downvotes and no censorship from either. And you should work with the people who will work with you. In reality, the internet is driving the extremism. Both sides are absolutely extreme. I don't know a single person in real life who thinks like 95% of the comments I've gotten on this or on the feminist sub.

I'm not finding a lot of critical thinking so this is refreshing. Thanks!

Yes, thank you. Both (well-intentioned) people on both sides really want the same things. Lots of bad actors. But I agree, mens AND womens' rights are actually complementary. People here complain about dating. Women complain about fears for their safety. Ok, it sucks to not date. It sucks to feel unsafe. Dating will be better if women feel safe. Men should acknowledge that. Men help solve a problem women are facing and help solve an issue they are facing. Win-win. Women don't want to be body sha…

Well, I'm an insanely fast reader and typist so: One. One stupid professor saying one stupid thing is not a valid argument. Two: 1.6% of women were raped in ONE YEAR. And the men were too low to count. Seems like a pretty big disparity to me. And your 1.7% 'were made to penetrate a perpetrator in a year' is pretty ignorant because the study you linked to says: "In the United States, an estimated 19.3% of women and 1.7% of men have been raped during their lifetimes." That's the 1.7% you're referr…

I brought up the fact that women are assaulted and raped more by their dates and people disputed that. That is ignorant (at best.)

I don't understand the following: 'how do you want to tackle said issues if the cause -> upbringing of children + social security + consent is not agreed on how to do it properly to avoid discrimination?'

"What’s really interesting here is that not only are gay women more likely to commit DV then straight men there also more than likely to commit DV then gay men as well. Yet feminism has constantly screamed for decades that the majority of men commit DV." Well, your conclusions aren't necessarily accurate on that. For one, I'd prefer those statistics from a direct source, but even if they are true: 44% of lesbian women encountered domestic violence and 35% of heterosexual women. But the article n…

Well, I don't know which two I cited. But, you actually believe that men and women when going on dates with strangers are at equal risk? Let's just ignore the walking alone part, because I am much more sure about the dating aspect.

Ok, but what? I don't know what argument you're referring to that I made. Can you quote me in what you're responding to?
/r/MensRights23/01/24 07:21 AM

No, you need to pull up facts. Not examples, not anecdotes, not personal theories. Statistics, Pew research polls, studies, etc.
/r/MensRights23/01/24 07:19 AM
-1

Ok, you still didn't specify, but one example would be: men kill women more often than women kill men in relationships. That's a problem that mostly affects women that is mostly done by men. I can think of examples of things where men are disadvantaged. But again, you didn't tell me what you want examples of.
/r/MensRights23/01/24 07:18 AM

"I was asking you which examples." That has no meaning. You were asking me which examples.......what? Which examples do what? Are you asking me for examples of problems in general caused by women? What do you mean, "my" whole ideology? You all are arguing extremely emotionally. I want facts and discussion, not blanket generalizations and assumptive thinking.
/r/MensRights23/01/24 07:00 AM

Uh, no I am literally LOOKING for discussion. I am going through the comments attempting to find where you discussed anything. Have I missed it? Did you post a comment that responded to my post that I am somehow missing?
/r/MensRights23/01/24 06:58 AM

What are those things examples of? What is your argument? I can analyze data perfectly well, but you haven't given me any data, much less any argument to which I can use data to respond to. Hamburgers? Pickles, ketchup, sesame seed bun?
/r/MensRights23/01/24 06:57 AM

Then...stop asking questions and kindly leave the sub now that you made up your mind. Save yourself and go back on your mount Everest of wisdom. End of the story. What did you add to the discussion? Did I miss a comment of yours or is it hiding in a reply somewhere?

Examples of what? Examples of you cherry picking? Well, for starters, every single post I just saw exemplified a way in which men are being disadvantged. Unless you think that men are disadvantaged in every single facet of life, that IS cherry-picking. It's not that an individual post is factually incorrect or cherry-picks data. I'm sure that happens but the bigger problem is that every post is built around the narrative that men are disadvantaged. Every post and every comment I've seen. That is…

Because you can't discuss it? lol, look at the comments and tell me how many are even arguments.
/r/MensRights23/01/24 06:46 AM

I'm attempting to do that because I'm not one or the other. Not only is it possible for both to exist, but both actually are the same philosophy. The only difference seems to be the people on the feminist sub ignore the issues in which men get aa raw deal men and people on here ignore issues in which women get a raw deal.
/r/MensRights23/01/24 06:45 AM
-4

lol, you can't point out extremes and then claim that' what the other movement is about. Otherwise, I could say MRAs hate women and think they should only be sex slaves. I could quote any random ass person to "prove" it. Who made Susan Brownmiller from 1975 the authority on what a feminist is? You already know it's a bad argument because you try to derail the obvious counterpoint before I even make it.
/r/MensRights23/01/24 06:24 AM
-12

What about the feminists who don't do that? Obviously, if someone calls themselves a feminist but believes women reign supreme, they aren't a feminist. Just the same as an MRA who is mischaracterized as hating women. At the end of the day, you still have to work with women and society to accomplish an improvement in men's rights. I don't think the goals of feminists and MRAs are that different but the communities have obviously alienated each other. Having posted in both subs, I can see why. Mos…

It's hilarious. Apparently, both subs advocate exactly the same things and cherry pick at will to prove their points. I've never posted here but I'm thoroughly disappointed in the lack of thoughtful discourse.

I disagree. I don't know what else one could use to define 'purchasing power' than income. Unless you think American men's debt impoverishes them to a degree to be below a global average. Which is clearly not true.

Because, as I said, I think it is a confusing and nebulous term. For instance, some definitions of human trafficking only include cases where someone crosses a border. Others do not depend on any movement at all but categorize anyone who suffers abuse to be a victim of human trafficking. https://www.dressember.org/blog/does-human-trafficking-have-to-involve-movement#:~:text=Consent%3A%20Victims%20of%20trafficking%20provide,of%20smuggling%20normally%20provide%20consent.&text=Trafficking%20can%20o…

IMO, this is changing very quickly. There are entire countries (Canada, France, Sweden, Norway) where selling sex is legal but buying it is not. Also, many many people on here think the Johns are immoral and disgusting but sex workers are not. I don't know of polls that measure this but I would be curious to look it up.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/02/21 08:48 PM
2

Legalization actually increases trafficking. First things first, I want to stop using the term 'trafficking' if possible because the term is becoming nebulous. And I may not be meaning it in the same way as you. For example, I have seen some definitions where, for example, a prostitute in Venezuela gets help to cross into Colombia and is considered 'trafficked.' I only have an issue with that 'trafficking' if she is forced, coerced, manipulated or abused into the move or because of it. If that m…

Again, if you are claiming there are 'much' more', what is the source of that information? And 'not trafficked' isn't an marker for 'salubrious prostitution. Ok. So, Why would anyone regret [sex work]? Most [sex work] happen[s] for financial reasons so the woman doesn’t even blame herself. She’s making the difficult decision to not [live or raise her children in] poverty. As time goes on emotions fall and bc the decision was based on an objective, external reason it just gets cemented. Is that not valid?

So, what evidence do you have that most people regret sex work but not abortions? Or do you think three out of four people in one Vice article and six people in one graduate study that started with the assumption that people in the sex work are in need of a recovery program is evidence that the "overwhelming majority" of people in sex work regret it? If so, here is similar evidence to what you presented, but for abortion instead of sex work: https://will.illinois.edu/news/story/abortion-stories-…

It's impossible to prove her wrong because she isn't debating. She is committing so many fallacies, it is literally impossible to debate her. At this point, it's hard to believe she isn't doing it on purpose. For example, what she said was: "If you exclude the powerless and vulnerable, aka teens/runaways, the mentally ill, the desperately impoverished, foreigners/non-English speakers and drug addicts, sure. I don't know how many people have regrets about being sex workers. If someone thinks it is a good choice for them at a particular time, what gives me the special insight to think it isn't? I don't think it is any different from abortion in that way. Sure, maybe some people regret abortions. Does that mean we should restrict abortion?

I didn't say it wasn't a problem when someone is trafficked. I said it wasn't a big problem (as in not many people are trafficked.)

The Vice article only presented four cases. All of which used sex work to get out of worse circumstances. One of the people indicated it was a positive experience. One of the others indicated the sex work was not unpleasant, but the fear of arrest / organized crime involvement were. The second link detailed the recovery process of women who left sex work. So, the student actively sought out women who had left the sex industry and were experiencing problems. That isn't at all proof that women i…

But why do they think that? If there is no reason to think it, it's illogical. It seems logical that there are more cases than what is reported. It doesn't seem logical that there are thousands or millions of cases when the DOJ tries their best and only finds 657. There are other illicit crimes (drug-dealing, etc.) that the DOJ finds tens or hundreds of thousands of cases of. Even prostitution is easy to find. You aren't worth a well-reasoned argument. You consider your uninformed biases absolute fact and you consistently attack my character. If you want to debate, provide an actual argument and apologize for implying I don't care about women who are sex trafficked/abused.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/02/21 08:26 PM
2

Yeah, but I'm saying there is no evidence that sex trafficking is rampant. If you believe there are far more cases than reported, there has to be some reason. There are always more cases of crimes than what is reported. But, the DOJ is trying very hard to find cases and can only come up with 657. Not all of which are sex trafficking. So, I don't believe the problem is rampant.

If they are making the decision and you trust them to make those decisions, why do you believe you can judge it as harmful? In what way is it harming them that you would be aware of but they would have overlooked?

major anti trafficking organizations admit we have no idea how much is out there, but we know it's certainly far more than "official" stats. Read that again slowly.

Why do you think they are happening if studies aren't finding them? You're starting with a conclusion that trafficking is rampant and providing no evidence that it is rampant.

That's a bad analogy because in one of them men would be the victims. And, of course, that can never be true.

Abuse and trafficking are not big problems in the industry: https://www.state.gov/reports/2020-trafficking-in-persons-report/united-states/#:~:text=DOJ%20formally%20opened%20607%20human,from%20148%20in%20FY%202018. Otherwise, sure they should not be disrespectful or skirt consent / boundaries.

Totally false. Provide some facts. Here's the DOJ's report on human trafficking: https://www.state.gov/reports/2020-trafficking-in-persons-report/united-states/#:~:text=DOJ%20formally%20opened%20607%20human,from%20148%20in%20FY%202018.

So, you don't the trust women's ability to decide what to do with their bodies? You think they are harming themselves and aren't adult enough to make those decisions?
/r/PurplePillDebate21/02/21 07:49 PM

No. But sex-positive feminists have backed themselves into a corner. They can't attack prostitution without exerting control over another woman's body and choice. So, they wildly exaggerate claims of human trafficking in order to take away the prostitute's ability to consent de facto. Before you even start, you better come with some facts. Because in the 2020 Trafficking in Persons Report, the DOJ says they "formally opened 607 human trafficking investigations from 657 in FY 2018." https://www.s…

The Golden Rule can be an absolute also. Under that morality, it simply isn't possible to do anything for yourself at anyone else's expense. I don't believe in the Golden Rule as much as I believe in optimizing good outcomes.

You are committing the Tu quoque fallacy. My hypocrisy in no way makes your original scenario any more or less moral. Sorry, I didn't type that well and it was disorganized. I am not saying you are personally being hypocritical. I agree that the hypocrisy of others doesn't have any impact on whether the original thing is moral or not. I don't know where morality comes from. Like you, I would say it's mostly instinctual and an estimation of harm done. If good feelings are maximized, that seems ethical. And in that view, I believe infidelity does a comparatively minimal amount of harm. I think if I knew or had very good reason to suspect harm would come from my actions, they would be immoral. Or, if I expected neither I or the person committing infidelity to get nothing out of it. Or some combination of the two. But, I don't ne…

/r/PurplePillDebate20/02/21 08:14 PM
1

Why is this true? I have no right to blame the person who bangs my partner. I can still blame my partner. I am not claiming that infidelity isn't wrong. I'm saying that you can't blame it on the person you aren't in a relationship with. They aren't doing anything wrong.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/02/21 08:10 PM
1

I fail to understand the consistency of this argument. If it is wrong to do in general, why is it not wrong to do if you are getting paid? For clarity, I think the husbands are the only ones committing infidelity.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/02/21 08:09 PM

Yes, I would feel the same. I wouldn't blame anyone but my partner.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/02/21 08:06 PM

I never said someone shouldn't care. I'm saying they should only blame their partner. I would care but I would not blame some stranger who had sex with my wife while she was on a business trip, for instance. Like, I don't know the guy and he never promised me anything. It's the spouse who is committing infidelity.

Hmm, from a utilitarian standpoint, I do not know how such a society would be. If cheating were that common, I expect it would become an acceptable part of the culture. The other effects of it, I don't know. I ascribe to he theory that you should be honest and keep promises to people you love. 1

At what point is enabling behavior actively wrong? If I sell cigarettes is that wrong? What about alcohol? What about drugs? I don't believe I can be responsible for anybody's behavior but my own. If we are all morally responsible for other people's behavior, that's a very high hurdle for morality.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/02/21 07:43 PM

I agree but 1.) I am not sure how much pain my actions are inflicting. 2). I don't believe it's my action that causes the hurt so much as the person in the relationship.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/02/21 07:41 PM

Again, the question is, "Is it moral?" The fact that someone may face consequences over doing it doesn't have anything to do with it. Also, I'm not sure why everyone is making this about ME personally when it is a hypothetical, moral question. Whatever my personal behavior or thoughts, the argument about morality is independent.

If someone kills a person because of an affair, that is that person's fault and that person's fault alone. And again, the person cheating is the one that is doing harm to their own kids. I didn't defend their decisions.

Well, I don't think it is. I don't want to retype other comments I made in full. In summary, people are free to do what they want. The outside party never agreed to honor the other two people's agreement. Also, the outside party doesn't know what the outcome of his or her actions will be or if they will even be negative.

First of all, you have very little to lose by choosing not to sleep with that person.. Well, that depends on the person and how badly you want to sleep with them specifically. I would say agree it is generally comparatively little but it is relative. In the specific example of a car, I would much rather sleep with some women than have a car that costs $10,000 more. Second of all, your analogy is ridiculous. Buying a luxury car has no direct impact on other people’s lives. Active vs. passive and …

He wasn't my friend. I didn't know him well. Still, that kind of thing happens all the time in other areas. I don't think most people would say it is immoral for a salesperson to try and persuade someone to switch lawn services, right?

Oh, he knew. I just didn't blame him. He never promised me he wouldn't go after this girl and we weren't friends. So, he didn't owe me anything. I don't understand a system where people are free to exit the contract of marriage when they want to (divorce). Yet, a totally outside party to the contract is somehow responsible for ensuring its enforcement. Are you a man or woman? I was also asking if opinions tended to differ by gender but I'm not getting any info on that.

Sorry, DMS? On here or you mean people you know personally through FB or Instagram? I mean, the partner may deserve to know. They may be a great person. I just don't think the outside party is the one doing them damage. To me, that is on the partner inside the relationship.

The threat of physical violence doesn't address the moral component of the argument. Just because someone might shoot a cheater doesn't mean it was morally wrong, which is what I'm getting at. Is it morally wrong and do different genders have a general difference there?

For one, we can forget the threat of violence. I don't frequently engage in the behavior. And when I did, it was in other countries so I think I'm ok, there. And, I don't think you are doing it, but some others seem to imply that someone who has consensual sex with another person should meet a violent death, which I completely disagree with. Also, I don't think having different morals makes someone a loser. If someone does have the moral that cheating is wrong, and then does it anyway, they are …

To be extra clear, I am not saying you shouldn't be mad at your partner. I am only saying the person outside the relationship does not deserve the blame. Yes, the Golden Rule you mentioned would dictate I have no right to be angry at someone who interfered in a committed relationship I was in. And I wouldn't be. It's happened to me before and I haven't been upset with the guy that came in and put the moves on the person I was dating. I was definitely upset by it. It didn't make me feel good. But…

Right, but if I don't share your opinion on the immorality of it, I don't believe I should feel like a scumbag. I truly don't think it's wrong. Ok, but why? If a person is consenting and I am also, what duty do I owe to another person? If you are saying I owe a duty to another person to sacrifice my own happiness, most people are hypocrites. Let me explain. Case 1: I should not get something I want (sex) that may have negative effects on another party (the aggrieved spouse.) No, why would this post be a troll? I have a legitimate opinion on the morality of cheating for someone not involved in a relationship. I think my arguments have been very reasonable and logical. If you don't think they are, and you have another argument, I am open to the CMV part of this post.

From a practical standpoint, aren't you worried about the spouse siding with their spouse over you and you getting all the hate just for being the messenger?
/r/PurplePillDebate20/02/21 06:35 AM

I think you are misunderstanding. I think the spouse should be very angry at their spouse. Just not angry at the person outside the relationship.

So, is that justified? Someone should be shot because they sleep with someone's wife? Isn't that a roundabout way of not respecting a woman's right to her sexual freedom?

From a practical standpoint, I don't disagree. And it does avoid problems. I'm not advocating people do it. Just expressing an opinion on the morality of it and wondering if it differs between sexes.

Well, I understand the desire for simplification and think that it is probably a better, and less stressful, way to live. I just don't believe it's morally wrong. Was wondering if that conclusion is universal or different between genders.

I'm definitely not trying to convince you but I'll at least explain the way I thin about it. We can express emotions; we just can't let them impact us without being viewed as weak by a lot of people. If men get dismissed and castigated for being emotional too much, they lose the ability to emote, in my opinion. Emotions are there to elicit reactions and help from other people. If you never get a reaction or help from expressing emotions, you simply stop showing and feeling emotions as much.

Well, no but there are legitimate reasons for concern about long-lasting or permanent side effects. I would agree that if keeping your hair is very important than it is worth considering. I don't want to overdramatize but I still encourage every balding man to shave your head. I'm very familiar with the constant sense of shame that comes with balding. I changed it to *can have. Still, those side effects may be permanent. Finasteride also may reduce typical masculine features, which may counteract the reason for taking the drug to begin with. Most importantly, it doesn't deal with the real issue, which is insecurity. A lot of the times, confident men without hair are more attractive than insecure men with hair. And shaving your head can definitely improve your confidence.

Yes. I'm a 35 year old. Biggest age gap was 11 years; she was 23 and I was 34. Of course the women aren't going to want older men who don't take care of themselves and are broke... And being bald has nothing to do with it.

Gaining bodyweight will help you. I went from 155 to 170 at 6'0 and I noticed a difference. It isn't even about fitness or being in shape because 1.) A lot of women want to be feel small and2.) People are very fat now and are claiming it is muscle. So, the perception of you is you will be weaker than another man if you are physically smaller than him. Even if a significant portion of his bulk is just fat.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/01/21 09:13 PM

Here is the thing, though. You just indicated fat, ugly women should be entitled to sleep with men who aren't gross losers. Why? I honestly don't mean any offense but why is being a fat, ugly woman not considered being a gross loser? I'm not saying anyone is a loser. I just mean, if someone is going to judge men as "gross" or "losers" it only seems fair to apply that same language to both sexes.

You can't tell. A lot of women refuse to date men their own attractiveness. So, in my experience you can go ahead and give yourself at least a point or two above the women you typically date. Maybe even 3 if it's an extreme. With a more broad view, she enjoys sex with the millionaire more if she chooses to do it. Imagine someone has a choice between two jobs: digging ditches for $1,000 an hour or testing out amusement park rides for $10 an hour. If they enjoy the money aspect of digging ditches, they enjoy digging ditches more. Sure, they have more immediate fun at the amusement park. But overall, the enjoyment they get from digging ditches is higher because of the things that money gets them.

MENSA tests are voluntary and largely sought out by people who are a noxious combination of awkward, insecure and arrogant. You can't use MENSA test scores to judge whether women find intelligence attractive because it isn't a random sample. Not only that, but intelligence can take many forms. MENSA doesn't have a monopoly on judging it.

You said Tinder isn't quality. Implying you knew that there were other sites that were. So, either you don't know or you're choosing to not tell someone for no reason. Don't think women are better than men just because they are women. As I have said before, my female friends have no qualms about trying to set me up with any of their friends without any consideration of their attractiveness, income, etc. But when they try to set up their female friends, they would never set them up with someone overweight, or someone who doesn't make good money, etc.

Yes, but that is the question. Why is it so common on OLD profiles in the U.S. and not common in other countries and cultures. It isn't just online dating. It's the idea that women need to be 'badasses.' Some women legitimately are badasses. Great. Some men are, too. Great. hahaha, nope. And ad for a show that aired over a decade ago? Or a book you can find for free on the internet if you search?

Yes. I am unsure if he said other, more objectionable things later on. Some people have mischaracterized or transmogrified some of what he said also.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/01/21 06:48 PM

I think it's a realistic expectation to be rejected by some people no matter what. Yeah, I think anyone that gets obsessive is on the wrong track. The advice in the book was not to let this kind of thing define your life.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/01/21 06:31 PM
1

Yeah, initially men have to make the effort. Why would an attractive woman approach any man when she is getting approached constantly? It's fair to expect men to match your effort and energy, but men still generally have to at least initiate.

It isn't just learning it. It was seeing someone actually do it, believing it could work to some degree, and having the encouragement to practice it. It's just like a trainer or a coach. They say some pretty basic stuff. But it always helps to have a third party who has been in that situation to give advice and motivation.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/01/21 06:11 AM
2

Yes. But I'm just talking about what he wrote in his book. I don't know his personal life and if he took his own advice, or to what extent. For all I know, it worked for him. Maybe it didn't. It doesn't really matter. A pastor can have a great sermon about infidelity that you can learn a lot from. If it later turns out he is cheating on his wife, it doesn't mean that you didn't learn anything.

No one can avoid rejection or failure all the time. It's just like a job where they train you to be a better salesperson. Let's say all the course does is train you to - Improve your "sales rate" from 5% to 8%. - Get nicer rejections that actually lead to some referral sales 1% of the time. - Get quicker at getting rejections, which raises your number of prospects you approach by 5%. - Get emotionally better at handling rejections, which further raises the number of people you approach by 2%. No does mean no. But the book does say it applies for people looking for relationships. And the way I applied persistence in my own life was different than this. I used to get so uncomfortable, I would leave if I thought things had even the potential of going south. For example: if someone had said, "Do you hit on a lot of women?", I would have left. But did that mean she was interested and wanted an actual answer? Or does that mean she thought I was annoying and was about to follow up with an i…

Gotcha. So people, know, I thought of the idea of posting it and then found the book online just to make sure I was remembering it correctly. So, what I typed is almost word-for-word. If he said other things I am unaware of that contradict this, then I didn't know that.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/01/21 02:54 AM

Some just don't. So, do you think books and ideas like that help those people?
/r/PurplePillDebate06/01/21 02:47 AM

Yes, social media may have changed some things. I think the key, though is getting better at reading people. I also don't know if many men get falsely accused of things just by politely talking to a woman in a bar.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/01/21 02:45 AM
3

I agree that someone will generally be attracted to you or not. I more took it as, "don't expect someone to start a relationship or have sex with you after 5 minutes." As in, they will put in some work and you also have to persist in furthering the relationship. If it isn't meant that way, I agree with you.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/01/21 02:39 AM

Thanks for the link. Goddamn. Those aren't good numbers. I would really think this was much better before online dating and smaller dating pools. How tall are you if you don't mind saying?

Where's that from? I may need to use it sometimes in arguments.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/01/21 06:47 AM

I'm sure it would be harder. I just would like to know if there is some resource or study. Something like- 20% of women won't date a man under 6'0 30% won't date a man under 5'10 Some small percentage of women probably don't care at all. But I'm sure it's fairly small. And the problem has probably been worsened by online dating.

As a not fat man, I think there are other differences. My girl friends have often tried to set me up with their fat friends. I have NEVER seen them to to set up any of their friends (fat or not) with a fat guy. Plus, I feel like I'm expected to have more positive qualities than a woman. Again, on setups they just tell me their friends are "nice" or "sweet" or "kind." Meanwhile, I have to be described as "fit, funny, smart, ambitious, nice", etc.

Having to rely on status and money would be beta though because the implication is she's not actually attracted to you and just using you for your wealth. Even women usually admit that a guy's wealth does not turn them on in a sexual sense. First, I could say status / money can turn people on. But, let's say that it doesn't. If you're a lawyer making $200 or $300 an hour, wouldn't it be more economical to just hire prostitutes? But I think a lot of people hate it for personal reasons and claim they are thinking about the societal damages. Thanks for being respectful, unlike many of the other posters.

It IS a strawman because no one is arguing your quixotic point. I don't know how much clearer I can make it that abuse and trafficking are valid reasons to argue against a thing. So.... you gonna keep just making shit up about what I ACTUALLY mean I guess? If that's what you want to do, it would be easier if you just replied for me.

hahaha It IS great logic. The authors simply assume that poverty drives prostitution without evidence. They then say that allows them to ignore low-income countries. They have no evidence or rationale for doing this. Watch what happens if you change it from "poverty" to "legal policy". We all know that legal policy is a main driver for the supply of prostitution. Therefore, countries where prostitution is legal are outside the scope of this paper, as we assume no prostitutes are trafficked there…

I supplied the actual quote here you're referring to here since yours was highly misleading" "Whereas current policies – decriminalization, criminalization of the buy or sell sides, and licensing – are ineffective against trafficking or harm voluntary suppliers, we show that an alternative policy can restore the benchmark outcome " It doesn't say anything about relative levels. It also is referring to CURRENT decriminalization policies, which include substantial differences between actual decrim…

Straw man. "Only" to me meant "only" as far as the number of reasons to argue. Not their validity. For you to assign my words a different meaning is unethical and cowardly. No one suggested women's lives were "inconsequential" except you.

How about this? - The London Study is more robust because it simplistically assigns a binary score to the legality of prostitution. The study I cited uses real world laws eg. (The Swedish system, the Dutch system, etc.) - The London Study logically argues against its own point. The study states, "Trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation requires that clients in a potential destination country have sufficient purchasing power to pay for such services, as well as requiring domestic suppl…

I know what it is. I'm not looking for a summary of the entire paper. I want you to prove that you are arguing in good faith and not sending random articles that you Googled. You are aware, I assume that the paper is not a quantitative study? So, what makes you believe in the researchers empirical model? Or, is that you actually didn't fucking read it at all?
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/20 04:48 AM

haha, maybe the person shouldn't randomly cite things as evidence if they don't know what is in it. I made an argument. Someone citing a random paper they don't know anything about doesn't mean I now have to disprove it. Poster does not know what argument they are making

Yeah, I studied it. I also have a logical argument, which is simply, "Criminalizing /stigmatizing does not get rid of it. It makes it go underground, makes it secretive, and provides less protection to those involved." I also have examples of other things where this happened (abortion, alcohol, mental illness, LBGTQ people, AIDs.) I cannot think of any instance where the opposite happened and would ask you to provide one. I also have met enough prostitutes, even just in the course of online dati…

I read that entire article carefully. The author did not once cite any source that said what she claimed. So, essentially, it is her opinion, one not even based on logic. She only cited one person, the mayor of Amsterdam, who said: “We’ve realized this is no longer about small-scale entrepreneurs, but that big crime organizations are involved here in trafficking women, drugs, killings and other criminal activities.” It isn't a logical argument. Nor is it an actual study that shows human traffick…

How is that hurting their lives, safety and freedom? If you outlaw prostitution, then you can't regulate it. And the women don't have the legal protections they do if it is legal. Remember the Secret Service getting busted for refusing to pay prostitutes in Colombia? The only reason those women got paid is because they prostitution is acceptable enough there that they feel comfortable calling the police. Also, if women are freely choosing to take risks with their safety, why can they not make th…

Sure, we benefit. But we benefit less than other people. No one gets a tax deductions or legal advantages for being single. But if you are some combination of married, and/or have kids, you get actual legal advantages. Additionally, children use more tax dollars and single people pay a greater share of their income to supporting that.

Some ways better, some ways worse. Better: Have more money and flexibility now and can travel and date interesting, attractive women. Worse: Most women my age (34) in my area who are single and baggage-free have chosen to be single. So, no real local dating opportunities.

You also have to consider the role of prostitutes. I would say that the distribution for women would be much more uneven than it is for men. As in, most women have fewer partners than men. But, others have many, many more.

You're right. The questions are legitimate but poorly phrased. Of course, rather than respond the other comments straw man him to death. When OP says this, what he really means is this. Maybe he means that secretly. But, if we all go around assigning our own, completely contrary meanings to what someone has said, communication becomes impossible. And thus, people have invented an entire character for the guy and are busy assassinating it.

I agree with you and m saying that is is very much the same for any two people of the same age. But it's like a Venn diagram. 100% of women who bounce around for 10 years will end up trying to settle down later in life. Maybe 20% of women who don't bounce around end up trying to settle down later in life. So, I was just saying that there is a disadvantage to sleeping around for years because you are 100% guaranteed to enter the dating pool later in life. Which, as you say, becomes more difficult…

I mean, if a woman sleeps around a lot and decides to settle down at 34. She is going to enter a bad dating market. It's not so much the n count, it's the age. It is bullshit. It doesn't explain why it is different in other countries and cultures. Men have much, much more power in the marriage market and larger society in other places. And women are definitely more ride or die in those places.

Yeah, and men are getting a raw deal. American women are the most overweight in the world. No way to quantify this but also not very nice. American men are some of the richest, tallest and most respectful of women in the world. So, that's why a lot of us are bowing out or going for foreign women. At least the ones that have the initiative and money to travel.

What about women who rejected every commitment until they were 34? And then decided to get serious about settling down and are having some major dating difficulties. Are they not experiencing major consequences? If you don't want kids or a committed relationship, there probably aren't any major consequences at all. Otherwise, there are definite consequences to waiting too long to settle down.

Not a comment on your sister but overweight people much prefer cycling. This is definitely one of the sports that attracts a lot of ATHLETES. For one, weight is almost irrelevant on flat sections and actually helps on downhills. So, it's pretty easy to be an overweight cyclist if you don't ride hills. Secondly, there are a lot of ways to buy speed. That's why a lot of amateur cyclists are spending so much money on their bikes. They can simply buy speed and think they are getting fitter.

Yeah, but I think that adds up to 20% pretty quickly. If a woman randomly had sex with seven men unprotected, that would be: 7*.0285=.1995, or almost exactly 20%. However, you're right that the protected sex is much lower. So, there is a chance women are having a lot more random hookups while using protection. I guess someone would have to get the numbers on condom usage to figure that out. The interesting thing is the men, at 1.7%, or .0017. Their herpes rate is only half the women's at 10%, ri…

Some people may mean that and that is reasonable. Other people for SURE do not want that. They essentially want an impossible slate of characteristics for one person to have. Well, that isn't what I meant when I said men need to be 'charming, handsome, fit, rich, intelligent, etc.' And they still need to be something to attract these women. Handsome, charming. Or, in the case of paying women, obviously that's using money. To get women with standards, men need to have most or all of those things.

Because player has a connotation of going after women with standards. Nobody refers to someone having sex with drug addicts because he has crack as a "player." On a global scale, the average 'Western' man is tall, rich and respectful of women. Other reason: the prettiest 10% of girls in bars in most cities here would be pretty average in some other places where the women actually TRY to look gorgeous. So, a beautiful woman in Rio de Janeiro isn't exactly as iso…

I didn't say it's ok to have a prejudice towards an unknown person. I'm saying you have to judge individuals as individuals. You are the one that called all women prostitutes in other countries. You said, "Why would I have to know someone? The diff between first and third world is economic opportunity. Women behaving like prostitutes is nothing new, nor are the men who pursue them lmao. Nothing wrong with it, might as well own it. " But sure, I'll trust your blanket judgement on literally billio…

No, I didn't. What did I assume about all Western women? You could have said the reduced economic opportunities in some countries might make one wary that some women will marry men for money. Clear difference between judging saying groups and individuals. 67% of American women are overweight / obese is a factual statement. Saying, "You're fat because you're American even if I have never seen you" is a prejudice.

You're going to have to explain what you're referring to. What is the context of "when people called a spade a spade?" And how am I "hiding" behind xenophobia?" Is it not xenophobic to assume someone is a prostitute because she lives in Brazil, Colombia, Thailand or wherever? You realize I'm not the one that suggested staying with a woman for free, right? Why would you rant at me for something someone else said?

That article is totally anecdotal. It takes a few, isolated cases and tries to make a larger point, which is scientifically invalid. This I agree with mostly. But men are usually judged on more than looks so it just doesn't matter as much. For instance, I was going bald and shaved my head and was pretty worried about what it would do to my dating life. But, it didn't have a noticeable effect. If a woman was bald, I think she would struggle more.

Instead of arguing point by point, consider this. If men hit the wall at the same time, how is it that older men can still attract younger women but older women can't attract younger men? The opposite sex determines when someone has "hit the wall." Here is a link from 'Dataclysm', a book by the OKCupid founder. Basically, younger women are always more attractive to men but women find men their own age to be the most attractive. https://metro.co.uk/2019/02/22/men-regardless-age-will-always-attrac…

Yes, they are subsidizing kids. Meaning women can depend on the government to provide for those kids instead of a two-parent household. Which, financially, renders a male partner less important. Single parenthood has been an absolute disaster. Look up the statistics about children from single-parent households. Even equalizing for income, it is the most predictive factor of poor outcomes. And I don't mean that being with a closeted lesbian is a good option. But 60 years ago, it might have actually been ok. I reread it and I see your point. But that doesn't explain the falling marriage rate or the fact that 2% more women identify as lesbians. Those things are both at an all-time high which would indicate less women are in serious, monogamous relationships with men than before. Most convincingly, please look at that first link (from Pew.) Agree with other posters. The market isn't CLOSE to being unregulated. I, as a single, self employed man, am forced to pay for other men's kids, for instance. If the market were actually unregulated, it would be entirely different. Where the market is more unregulated, it's entirely different.

It's a question worth asking but, most of the time, women are the ones that select the men. So, if they are alone, it is their own doing. Maybe they end up as sad, but they are the one that caused it. If a man is lonely and single, it may not be his fault at all.
