Looking after your property and potentially family safety is totally a douche move.

Thats nice go turn your house into a homeless shelter. Anyone else has a right to their property.

That article seems off...I see 847 deaths from suffocation/strangulation and 81 from motor vehicles in 2010. http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nvsr/nvsr61/nvsr61_04.pdf (Table 21 for relevant statistics) Now I see nothing for circumcision but I see 22 deaths for medical related complications. But it could also be put under hemoragings or infection related deaths, idk. I couldn't link to or read the study quoted in the article.

She is also anti-vaccination and believes tampons make you infertile. Also feeds child by prechewing its food... Be all pro-intact as you want but this woman is a nutcase.

Nothing you wrote about AIPAC contradicts what I said. It is the most powerful foreign lobby, but definitely not the most powerful lobby (neither largest nor spends the most money). As a lobby its job is promote an interest, in this case favorable diplomacy with Israel. There are thousands of people at the executive levels in the media industry. Even taking raw position into account, being a CEO doesn't mean ownership or anything resembling absolute authority. Company operations are more complex…

The AIPAC may be the strongest foreign interest lobby group but they are far from the strongest lobbying group. Many spend vastly more than the AIPAC on lobbying efforts, notably pharmaceuticals spent the most, amounting the a few billion in the last decade. As being successful in the media? Its not overwhelmingly Jewish, there are Jews in some high up position. Guess we will tell them to just be less successful at what they do so you can feel better about yourself.

Given the that circumcision is done in general right after birth or 8 days religiously and the statute of limitiations on medical malpractice is on average 3 years depending on state.... Sure you can sue you will just have to file before you turn 3 or something....

If the issue isn't the abortions why is this a men's rights issue? The wife's poor communication is not a men's rights issue. If she kept the child against the OPs original will it would have been.
/r/MensRights31/12/13 06:29 PM

Definitely agree with you on all your points. I just feel entering the conversation with anger or disappointment would validate those feelings and not open her up. The communication issues are on the wifes side but everything from that thread makes me think this a marriage worth saving. I'm not agreeing with the comments over there condemning the OP but I don't agree with the ones here condemning the wife to such a harsh degree here.
/r/MensRights31/12/13 02:29 PM

A possibility, he doesn't seem to give a stance on abortion or mention he would have wanted to keep the babyhad he been told. I'm just saying I can understand where the wife is coming from and I don't believe it was her intent to harm her husband. Of course this is an assumption and of course I agree she is responsible for a breakdown in communication. As you said, she should have told her husband when she got pregnant the first time.
/r/MensRights31/12/13 02:13 PM

He didn't want to be a father though, seems the OP made it clear in those comments he never wanted to be. I never said he was a scumbag. Its an unfortunate situation from a lack of communication on the wifes end but I don't think there is any reason to think there was malicious intent or the wife trying to control his reproductive rights. Based on what the OP said if that were the case the wife would have kept the child. He needs to have a talk with her and so far up to this point the OP has beh…

Not sure why he should be angry. It is possible that she was declared infertile and still ended up pregnant. The tests to determine such aren't always rock solid. So it doesn't necessarily mean she lied about that. As far as the abortions, given his deal breaker about kids she probably fear he would leave her if he found out she got pregnant. She clearly wants these kids and if she didn't care about her husbands feelings she wouldn't have had 3 abortions. He didn't want kids and she has kept her…

Well zionism would be a political movement for the establishment of the Jewish state of Israel. Circumcision is a religious issue e.g Judaism and Islam. Don't see why zionist would care.

Garden City Group's revenues have doubled since 2009 to $200 million. I think this is has more to do with them benefiting from the financial crisis being a company that specializes in bankruptcy cases and class action settlements than the diversity of their work force.

No idea why the divorce was initiated or why the husband refused to sign. Its very uncommon that a husband refuses to sign. When the husband is 'made' obligated to sign the Get he is usually kinda excommunicated from the community till he signs. Beating is only done in extreme cases from what I know of and is extremely rare. Obviously only done in very traditional orthodox communities, it is not followed by modern orthodox and less observant Jewish movements.
/r/MensRights10/10/13 08:13 PM

No a wife can end a marriage, if her basic marital needs are being neglected she can file. Note a woman needs a reason, a husband does not need a reason. Basically a Rabbinic court compels the husband to initiate divorce proceedings on the wife's behalf. Abuse is definitely a reason. For a divorce to be finalized both parties must sign the Get. The method of beating the husband is only used when he refuses to sign a Get that was determined valid already. Its really done to prevent agunot.
/r/MensRights10/10/13 06:40 PM

Kinda true, now adays women can in most Orthodox circles intiate a divorce. Jewish divorce laws can be extremely complex, the only time torture is done is when the husband refuses to sign the Get, basically makes it so the woman can't move on/ remarry and such. Sometimes in Judaism a divorce can be compelled on both parties even if neither initiates.

The following of the sabbath and brit milah are still different. The actions of the brit milah are explicitly stated, dogmatically the only thing that has changed is the amount of foreskin removed. What a Jew is and isn't allowed to do is something continually debated even in the most religious circles. You might be familiar with the whole sabbath being a day of rest where one isn't suppose to work (which isn't an end all be all there are higher laws that allow you to break the sabbath, like sav…

Haha dude you can't take the actions of Jews who don't believe in the faith (hence don't have to do brit milah) as those who do (hence do perform brit milah). So I merely said their actions don't matter when you are talking about religious practices. Not sure why that is hard to grasp. Its like asking why a catholic turned atheist doesn't baptize their child. On FGM, it is hadith, a text on traditions and codes of conduct. It is a fundemental text of Islam. Technically the Quran doesn't mention …

You apparently know very little about Judaism and the following and interpretation of its tenants. Clearly we have chosen to disagree that religion is a complete subset of culture as oppose to an entity that influences culture. Just saying more of the Chinese governments efforts were for control not the well being of their citizens. Same as this is more another thinly veiled attempt at the continued religion suppression of the European Jewery, as I have mentioned several other legistlative laws …

Yes I believe in my faith I don't expect you to understand. You can ethnically be Jewish but if you start going on about a debate of religious tenants and their following you have to stick to the religion. Atheists Jews are not religiously Jewish. Foot Binding didn't have any religious significance (Brit Milah is a central part of Judaism), so its not a direct comparison. When the chinese communist took over they did a lot of things, many of which I hope you wouldn't agree with.

Intent is relevant if you are declaring it to be torture. I think you are losing validity if you declaring it to on the level of waterboarding, or maybe your comparing it more medieval forms of torture? That is from an obscure hadith whose religious validity is questionable. You probably also think Jews for Jesus are Jewish. It is commanded by God in our holiest text, key to Judaism is the divinity of the Torah. Atheist Jews are just that, atheists. Atheists are hardly a qualified sources of rel…

Actually yes the Brit milah is a pivotal part of Judaism as it is commanded by God to do it and it has always been done in Judaism. There have bee. Changes in the ritual have taken place but the fundamentals have been the same. there actually where changes in the amount of foreskin removed. Judaism is an odd religion where much is interpreted and reinterpreted. But no punching the balls isn't an option...

Torture? You'd have to show that it is done for the purpose of inflicting extreme pain or disability. What religious doctrine requires FGM? For MGM it is the brit milah, as it is found in our Holiest texts. Jews are not exempt from bring judged for rational reasons, these notions are coming from a culture that still as large anti-semtic influences so forgive us for being skeptical that this is done for legitmate reasons. You don't want to circumcise your son go ahead.
/r/MensRights03/10/13 05:07 PM

As I said FGM is not a religious practice, religion can impact cuture but they are not one in the same. I'm sure this viewed all great by an outsider but to me this is just a continuation of centuries of religious oppression, just as there was always justifications for the Holocaust, blood libel, ghettos, inquisitions and expulsions. This and attempts to cull other religious rituals like Kashrut are just continued oppression. Just another step to exterminating a group of people.

Seems like the user above is advocating religious suppression. They can either die off/convert/jail/expulsion. Sounds like pre world war two Germany. Or maybe the Spanish inquisition is better? Sorry but religious suppression is a sensitive subject

"If people don't change their practices to conform with the law, throw them in jail" Would concentration camps work better for you?
/r/MensRights03/10/13 03:52 PM

I don't know of any religions explicitly requiring that as a religious ritual. Seems more of a cultural practice to punish women in the majority of cases.
/r/MensRights03/10/13 03:31 PM

See this is a reasonable approach it is not a necessary operation but for some religions it is a pivotal ritual.

Honestly not a bad way to look at things and just because it is worded to only gender doesn't mean that it isn't something that men can apply about girlfriends. I think a major problems in relationships is complacency. Many people end up stuck in sour relationships (lack of sex, abusive, boring) and would do well to periodically reevaluated if this was what they wanted. And for people who do intend to get married dating is kinda an audition to see how well you could possibly workout.

So if you were to have what components of my religion should I be allowed to pass down to my kids as I raise them? Cause judging from some of the more hostile responses here, some members would rather see my religion just die.

I was fine with your statement till the second line. As far as I am concerned with greater society and our laws, religion should not bleed into it. I think we can agree on that.

This is false, simply because all religion is odd. Having no religion is odd. Existing is odd. :) Lol true. I get some funny stares when I describe some of the things. The Talmud is especially great, get things like debates for many stars need to be in the sky for it to be night on Shabbat. A bar mitzvah is correct. Takes place when a boy turns 13, which is a man in the religious community. I do know this. So many different thoughts and opinions. Does it mean don't work at all, such as pushing b…

People land on different conclusions on what life means. I reached a different conclusion from my sisters. You deciding to be atheist is a completely valid conclusion to reach. I will in the end raise my kids the manner I believe best suited, including religious precepts. Once they are sent off into the world I will respect and support what ever personal choices they decide to make. I just hope they will live a good life and be good to others. I didn't say it wasn't mutilation. Technical definition since it is deforming the appearance is that it is mutilation. And believe me I understand the humanitarian concerns you are raising and it is valid. It is a very touchy subject where a secular society meets a religious group. I guess I've always been of the opinion to just leave my community alone. But Judaism is a religion open to changes to an extent and as this issue surfaces more in society I'm sure it will be debated more in the commu…

Essentially yes. Same applies to other religions, each has their book and rituals they follow. And of course there are Atheists who don't believe in any of that so the concept of following a holy book is a logical concept. Its a matter of faith.

Haha thank you for the clearification and fair question. Judaism is a very odd religion. In the Torah (one of our religious texts passed to us by God, as our belief goes) it commands that as a sign of our covenant with God that the males will be ritually circumcised by having the foreskin removed on the 8th day of their birth. A lot of what what you are asking about in our circumcision is defined as what is today in Judaism can be found in Tractate Shabbat Chapter 19, you might be able to find i…

The Torah says to do it on the 8th day. Its merely a sign of the covenant between the Jewish people and God. In Judaism the Torah is God given, the written law given to the Jewish people at Sinai.

Haha, guess it is different. Didn't realize so many jimmies would be rustled by stating a part of my religion. But its kinda funny (the no-haha way) that those who are quick squeal about their own rights being violated/limited/or otherwise circumvented are quick to also push their beliefs on someone else. Which I suppose you would argue that would enforce my beliefs on my kid through religion, but between family is different than unrelated individuals. As I said I have no idea why you Non-Jews c…

What exactly on it? The emphasis on: It was dictated by man, and is not the biblical commanded circumcision rite. Thats just a reflection by someone not well versed in Judaism. Judaism is a religion that is open to interpretation. This is My covenant, which you shall observe between Me and between you and between your seed after you, that every male among you be circumcised. And you shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin, and it shall be as the sign of a covenant between Me and between you.…

A bodybuilder should never have skinny legs. In a competition one of the main things a bodybuilder is judged on is symmetry. This is why many bodybuilders don't like having a 'best' body part, since that would mean the other areas are lagging. But its true women hate the amount of time a guy takes to look good but they love the result.

The laws are much more detailed then what I explained but generally yea it can be a harsh religion. Marriage is a very interesting and complicated topic in Judaism. But adultery is right up there with murder, incest, and idolatry. They are all considered sins a Jew should rather die before committing.
/r/MensRights07/05/13 02:42 PM

As a Jew I especially like the Jewish reference in that article. Judaism certainly isn't kind to adultery. A child born of such a relationship can't marry a Jew and in ancient times both the adulterous wife and the guy she was with were subject to capital punishment. So not quite sure where that author got their sources from...
