Nah, it’s the consensus of research.

Happy for you! I am very sexually attracted to women but I have never managed to fall in love with one. I wish I could, then the likelihood of me finding a partner I'm physically attracted to would skyrocket.

This is how I feel. Being with someone I'm attracted to > being single > being with someone I'm not attracted to.

Barely anyone has "self-discipline." It's a myth.

You're attributing a societal failure to individuals. I'm sure if you think about it for a moment you'll realize that's an error.

Agreed. I'm fat and I'm not attracted to fat people. Guess I'll be alone forever  Edit: reading from these statistics I'm actually totally average for an American woman lol

Wtf did I just read? I want children. It's better for them if they have two parents instead of one. I'll have kids on my own if I don't meet someone in time, but ugh but nannies are so expensive. I'd rather fall in love and then have a nanny for free!

1) I guess at age 30, more than 40 would be "high" 2) As long as it wasn't because he was a sex addict, I would think it's cool. I guess it's a plus because I'm sure he'd have lots of interesting stories to match mine? Though I'd get concerned that our sex drives might not match if it was super high - as long as he was ok with non-monogamy that wouldn't be a problem though. 3) That's silly 4) Nah

I envision the opposite for my life. I can't imagine giving up my career for a child. I hope I meet a guy that can be the primary care taker of the children. If he makes as much money as me, great, we can hire a full time nanny and they can be the primary care taker.

That doesn't apply to hotness lol. When most people say 7/10 they mean "in the 70th percentile," in this case "hotter than 70% of people."

In my friend group, at least four of my woman friends outearn their boyfriends. One of them complains about it and she's the most traditional out of the four for sure. The others don't care.

Isn't this the norm? Women have to compromise to be in a relationship because as a whole the female population wants a relationship earlier than the male one, therefore attractive men can date slightly younger women, and older women are left with less attractive men.

If it makes you feel any better, I have not one but TWO friends who refuse to take anyone over 5'10. One is 5'3 and one is 4'10. The one that's 5'3 has a boyfriend that's 5'3 also. The one that's 4'10 has a boyfriend that's 5'5. I'm not like this though. 5'3 and if someone's really awesome I'm mot flexible, but preference for 5'9 and taller.

It’s definitely the norm in my circles, and I’m not interested in dating outside of that.

That has nothing to do with what I’ve said. Obesity is not due to personal decision making and neither is weight loss. Certain societies eat less “gargantuan amounts of crap” because it’s the norm. The opposite is the norm in the states. But once someone reaches a certain set point because of growing up in that norm, it’s very unlikely they will go under it for a significant amount of time. The body will try everything it can to maintain its excess weight, and on top of that that norm is still a…

Wow are there still people out there that think others can just "lose weight" despite the masses of scientific literature showing that it's nearly impossible to keep it off? The only successful method for weight loss is drastic surgery and even that only has a long term success rate of under 50%. The war on obesity has been lost. Fat acceptance is the future until we can create a pill that changes our chemistry. Get used to it.

What is a hobby exactly? I don't think I have hobbies. I work full time, am in school on the side, ride my bike for transportation, read periodicals for knowledge, and workout for health. I think of a hobby as something one does for pure pleasure. There's nothing in my life like that besides cooking and hanging out with friends, and those activities are too universal to be called "hobbies." I guess I have my plants. Sure, I tend to my plants as a hobby.

You asked a question. I answered it. Those values are no longer the norm. You're welcome to have them, but you shouldn't wonder why most of society will be "bothered" by them.

You've gotten "recent years" older. The older you get, the more women leave Tinder because they're looking for something serious, but the guys stay.

I prefer open relationships so I don't really believe in "cheating" unless there's some deception/secrecy. But if I had a partner that wanted to be monogamous, I would absolutely respect that and would never betray them. So why would I cheat? I wouldn't.

Literally just someone that I want to have sex with and that I want to spend time with, and that will put in equal effort into building a relationship, a home, and a family. Edit: if you’re asking what personality traits do men I want to spend time with tend to have? Smart, reasonable (not hot tempered), communicative, confident, and has ideology I can at least have a conversation with.

Hate to say this but I’m gonna bet you feel this way precisely because you don’t have experience with women. My last relationship was with a sensitive little emo boy (tall though!) that cried in front of me multiple times. I found it endearing and loved that I could be the one to comfort him a bit. He is a sweetheart. You, on the other hand, sound like a drain. I imagine your conversations with these new friends develop into a spiral of negativity. Even my level of fatness is rated as less attractive for most men, but that’s what I think a lot of people here don’t get. Just because someone lacks the body type that’s the MOST attractive to another person doesn’t mean that they aren’t attracted to them as well. Most men have a preference for normal sized women, but at least half of them are also attracted to women clearly in the overweight or even the edge of obese BMI (like myself). I’m speaking about in the US -and Europe- course it’s diff…

There's a good amount in my face I think, but they even do it when I'm wearing a mask. Some men are attracted to larger women - it's a fact. Much more than people on this sub seem to think. Especially when they have exaggerated hourglass figures like me.

I keep hearing this but it doesn't match up to my lived experience at all. I am overweight and unfortunately I get catcalled at least once a week. When I was younger it was even worse. No, none of these rude men are attractive to me, but they are attracted to me, so to say all fat women are ugly to men is silly. I also get politely hit on in public once a month. A couple months ago I was literally in the middle of eating what as left of a messy falafel, hovering over the trash can as tahini drop…

I’m not asking you to care. I’m asking you not to say “women do not like younger men at all.” It depends on the woman and on the culture. My mom is 4 years older than my dad by the way, and my mom’s best friend is 6 years older than her husband!
/r/PurplePillDebate15/09/21 10:44 AM

Nah, I am not attracted to older men, period. All my dating apps are set to 6 years younger than me and 2 years older than me, begrudgingly. I’ve never slept with someone more than 3 years older than me, but I’ve slept with people 9 years younger than me.

Your first paragraph proved my point and then you came back to harping on evolutionary process. Everything you said in your last paragraph isn’t consequential because of what you’ve illustrated in your fist paragraph. Why does the reason why boobs evolved important here?

And doing it to someone you don’t know is degrading. They’re trying to go about their business and you feel the need to make them stop to listen to you say something about their body. The vast majority of women do not want to hear compliments from strangers unless that is appropriate in the context.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/09/21 10:12 AM
2

If you were posting a pic whose purpose was to get compliments, then no. But if you were posting a pic for some other purpose, then yeah, why should people say sexual comments to you without your consent?
/r/PurplePillDebate15/09/21 02:10 AM

But we aren't talking about whether or not partnership is a joke. We are talking about choosing a partner. We are talking about whether women are more picky than men when it comes to looks, for the purposes of selecting a partner.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/09/21 02:07 AM
1

No, I claim that they are not inherently more sexual than other aspects of the body. Currently they are sexualized, but if women ran around topless as much as men, we'd become desensitized. It's like hair in societies where women cover their heads vs. in societies where they don't. They were genetically selected because females with those features were more likely to survive and reproduce. So were a lot of things we don't care about today, which is why I'm saying it doesn't really matter for the…

Upvoted for mentioning Asimov. Downvoted for suggesting that tits are inherently sexual. If women walked around with tits out just like men do, their allure would be on par with men's chests to women. They're sexualized because they're hidden and forbidden.

It's not just boobs, it's anything. Why would you compliment a stranger in public? I would find it incredibly degrading. All the more so an "intimate" part of the body. Whenever a guy says something about my ass in public I literally want to maul him.

Women are hoe. Also, women have no sex drive. Make it make sense. Also not sure where you're getting the idea that women are virtually asexual? I have a normal sex drive. All the women I've slept with have a normal sex drive as far as I know.

I know my dating prospectives will be different because I've cycled the same weight on and off for over a decade. Of course it's physically possible. But so are a lot of things that the average person doesn't have the willpower to do, so it's kinda besides the point. I've done many physically and mentally difficult things in my life - parents being too poor to give us xmas presents, bootcamp in combat unit, moving to different countries not knowing a soul - and I can tell you that nothing I have…

I also lost the weight a few times, just gained it back every time. The body really really wants to get back to its highest weight. Each time it becomes more and more difficult to resist everything my body is telling me. Who knows, maybe next time it’ll stick? I used to jog 3-5x a week but had to stop because it was grating cartilage off my mis-aligned kneecap. I mean who cares about me? Just putting some data out there. By tall I mean probably 5'9+. Anything more is bonus. Oh I noticed you legit asked my opinion. Wearing "women's" clothing is next level. I'm not against it, but it doesn't do anything for me. It's more the pretty-boy face, lack of body hair, no big beard, maybe some nail polish. I like a feminine tinge, especially with personality traits like sensitivity, sweetness, tact. Mix that with confidence and wit and I'm ded.

I'm from the US and actually gained 20 pounds when I moved to Europe 5 years ago (so many good pastries, so cheap, so available!) and haven't been able to lose it. Now I'm back in the US. Before the pandemic I rode my bike 1.5 hours a day to work (don't drive, don't live in a driving city, too hot or too cold I take the subway). Lol "get fit." I mean, I can't blame you, not everyone keeps up with scientific studies. It's nearly impossible for someone to lose weight and keep it off. Over 90% of people who do gain it back. How many of us are lucky to be in the 5-10% of human beings with exceptional fortitude? Considering I've been trying to lose weight for 15 years, it's unlikely that I'm in that group.

I've never been fond of vibrators and don't own one. While they feel intense, the actual intensity of the orgasm doesn't increase for me, only the speed. The few times I've used one I've been left desensitized, which is unpleasant. I understand that they are vital for some people with clits/vaginas, but in my case it's just overstimulation without reward. Ah now you change your tune. Calling someone who is 15 pounds over the "normal" BMI "chubby" is debatable but at least not hilariously off-base like the "obese" you kept doubling down on. Glad you could listen to reason. Ciao <3
/r/PurplePillDebate11/09/21 07:29 PM

Sounds like you're talking about the BMI? Even by your own metric, as a 145 5'3 person I was exactly 4 pounds into the "overweight" category. "Normal" is up to 141 for my height. 170 is the very start of the "obese" category so unless you use totally different math than the rest of us and 145=169 then, no. In those pics I was around 160, which is "overweight" according to BMI, but still not borderline obese.

A job can't just fire you and hire someone half your age because they feel like it. If a job does want to let you go, they have to pay you 'redundancy' money (which can be a huge amount) You obviously do not live in the USA. Companies can fire anyone for practically any reason, and severance is not legally mandated. There is no redundancy money.

I think the question is flawed. It assumes that reasonable standards (which we could define as "standards that will yield many options") are more desirable than unreasonable standards ("standards that will not yield many options"). It's not desirable to lower one's standards only to get into relationships with people they aren't attracted to. It's more desirable to maintain unreasonable standards and remain single. It's not a slippery slope - we are talking about the boundaries of one's own body. It is a literal parasitical relationship, not a metaphorical parasitical relationship like you are talking about. If we can protect some stupid plant or an insect from going extinct we can sure as hell deem that all human life is worth protecting. We protect the survival of these plants and insects on the level of species, not individuals. This comparison could only possibly apply once humans become an endangered species. You have rights and it is the duty of our modern civilization to make good in upholding your rights Glad you mentioned that. I have a right over my body. The government can't even harvest …

Do you believe that consenting to sex also entails consenting to getting pregnant? Yes, you consent to the possibility of getting pregnant, just like you consent to the possibility of catching a disease, bothering the neighbors, or getting less sleep. And if one of those possibilities comes true, say, you do get an unwanted disease, you can get some antibiotics. If you get an unwanted pregnancy, you can get an abortion. Do you think abortion until birth is good or bad? Good. Unwanted fetuses are…

I prefer dating other bisexuals because they don't tend to suffer from the same degree of gender role bullshit as straight people. Having sex with someone of your own gender removes the ability to rely on gender norms and roles, and that's liberating.

As a bi woman, I would be over the moon to date a bi guy. Ultimate dream. Maximum threesome potential.

I prefer to be in non-monogamous relationships but am happy to compromise. I'd be monogamous if that was really important to my hypothetical partner.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/09/21 02:00 PM

I don't see this in my friends but I see it in me, and I'm the only perpetually single one. I usually go on a date every week or two but am never both physically and intellectually attracted to the guy. I'm not attractive enough to attracted the ones I'm into. I will certainly never be in a relationship with someone I'm not attracted to, so I've resigned to being single forever.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/09/21 01:57 PM

Well I did have other options, but this was convenient, low effort, lucrative.

I'd give it 4.5/5 stars. The only issue in my mind is that our physical bodies have not caught up with our more abstract liberties. I might have focused on finding a partner a little earlier instead of fooling around if I would have considered that it's slim pickings in our 30's, and my ovaries won't be around forever.

If I'm an outlier then all of my friends are also outliers. Apparently there are enough outliers that men who cry should be able to find women that don't care.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/08/21 05:15 PM
1

And you're basing this claim on what, exactly? I'm basing my claims on decades of lived experience and observations of my women friends' experiences. This covers six cities, three countries, and hundreds of people. Of course I have gravitated to certain social circles throughout my life and they will skew differently than yours, but these blanket statements are simply laughable.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/08/21 01:31 PM
6

This is just laughable. What are you basing these claims on? People want casual sex with hot, confident people. In the casual sex domain, people don't want their partner to be emotionally needy because they're not there to give emotional support. Many guys would also be turned off by a woman suddenly being vulnerable and sharing TMI in a casual setting.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/08/21 01:29 PM
3

Very interesting rhetorical strategy you have there. I respond to someone's blanket statement of "X applies to all women" with "X does not apply to all women, instead, Y applies to at least some women"...and you reply with "actually, Y doesn't apply to all women."
/r/PurplePillDebate15/08/21 01:26 PM
1

The statement I was responding to was "this works on all women" not "this tends to work more on demure, feminine women."
/r/PurplePillDebate15/08/21 01:25 PM
1

I think it's important that we be honest here. Indeed, which is why I'm going to be honest and say that a man who acts stoic would not be attractive to me nor any of my close friends. So I'm coming from a place of being a woman, knowing lots of women, knowing the kind of guys those women have been interested in and what kind of guys they are in relationships in. You're coming from..."I think it works on all women."
/r/PurplePillDebate14/08/21 06:03 PM

Sure, just decide my experiences aren't valid. I guess that helps reinforce this imaginary dichotomy you've created. I hope you see through it someday <3
/r/PurplePillDebate14/08/21 05:27 PM

timid, defensive, and needy Strawman argument. No one is saying men should act like this. Wanting a normal level of emotional support doesn't make a person needy, it's wanting a high level of emotional support unendingly that does.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/08/21 05:05 PM
4

Same here. Guys crying is normal. I'd never date a guy that was afraid to express his emotions.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/08/21 05:03 PM
2

This is the norm in my social circles. You are in the wrong circles is this is what you are looking for. Last time a guy cried I totally swooned and fell for him. It was amazing that he felt comfortable enough with me to express his true emotions, and it made me think much more highly of him.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/08/21 05:03 PM
0

Of course people can be emotionally stable and still experience normal human emotions like frustration, anger, and sadness. Also why would I want to see my hypothetical bf as a "masculine man that can protect me?" Ew.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/08/21 05:01 PM
2

Why would that turn me off? I'd love how vulnerable he was being and would want to nurture and comfort him.

A LOT of women lose attraction over the slightest loss of frame, sometimes to the point where it seems they want somebody who almost shows no "human" traits at all. Dude, you are in the wrong social circles. This is not real life.

I have a cartoonishly feminine, short, pudgy figure and my style is decidedly girly, but I'm anything but demure and can be quite dominant (personality wise). I work in an industry that's probably 90% male but have typical feminine interests and love to cook and entertain company. So I guess if I were a guy I would be tall and exaggeratedly masculine in body type and attire, but have many typically feminine personality traits. One of my best friends who I think is gorgeous, smart, and interesting is dating someone who is sweet but not really her equal (literally shorter than her - she's 5'4 and he's 5'3). When I asked why she loves him it was mostly about him treating her well. So, yeah. More women are looking for relationships than men. Just don't be an asshole and apparently you can get a gf.

If he insisted on paying and I wanted to see him again I would let him on the condition that i pay next time. But I don’t understand your rationale - “I truly enjoyed your company and it is my pleasure as a man” - why couldn’t I also truly enjoy someone’s company and it’s my pleasure as a woman?

Not sure there's been a journey - I stumbled upon TRP subreddit years ago, and now after many years of relationship experience, I am even more convinced than ever that most of it does not reflect my reality nor the reality of my friends. The things they said I would grow to want, I never did.

I don't want a submissive man. I don't want anyone to be submissive or dominant. I want an egalitarian relationship. I find it extremely hard to believe that 95% of women want a dominant man. You're equating them as being in the same category of ideas, not as being the same idea. That category of ideas is "concepts that could be defined through this chart of emotions."
/r/PurplePillDebate11/08/21 03:49 PM

It does detract because you are comparing "submission" to "love" and both of them to a list of emotions. Love is often thought of as an emotion or feeling, but submission is not. These two are not comparable.

We care about it because this data was evaluated before data privacy was part of the mainstream discourse, and when OKC was the top free app. We probably won't get insights like this from any other app in the future because of ethics and liability considerations.

The study doesn't show how many messages there are total, it compares the percentage of messages from men that go to the most attractive vs average vs least attractive women. Supply doesn't matter here, it's about the relative distribution.

Society may go in the direction of more people being single. More men will learn to thrive without a partner the way many women already do. It won't be the downfall of society.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/08/21 01:59 PM

The analysis showed that too many men are chasing too few women on the apps. Like or message, it’s saying that if they broadened their scope as much as the women, they would get more matches.

Actually, I have anecdotal evidence that this wouldn’t work for me. When lockdown began, I didn’t sleep with anyone for four months. I didn’t even meet a new person IRL. You're right, it is possible in theory, and I'm sure some people have done it. But let's not call casual sex "someone using you for your body." It's people engaging in an activity they enjoy together.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/08/21 07:17 PM

Worst case a man approaches women he's not thrilled about rather than be single I feel like plenty of people end up doing this, but it just doesn't appeal to me. I'm already satisfied with my life, so someone would have to significantly add to it for a relationship to be worth it.

One assumes you are sleeping with men out of your league and that could potentially hinder you by making that your baseline reference for sexual experiences. Why would it be in my interest to reduce my baseline if it's great? Have you told your therapist that you'd like to try and conquer your unhealthy attraction to men out of your league physically? /r/PurplePillDebate10/08/21 01:56 PM

I wasn't expecting the content of this post when I saw the title. I see a big deal of men paying for dates but from the other side - I don't want to feel a power or resource imbalance on a date. If a man pays for me, an imbalance has been created, whether or not he minds doing so. He has exerted more of himself towards our two hour experience together than I have. Even if he doesn't feel like I owe him anything, social norms dictate that favors are returned, and I don't want to feel obligated to…

However for the kind of men I'm interested in, more like a 4. I tend to be drawn to snotty, over-educated men and they tend to seek the similarly high achievers, which I am not.
