Man we must be living the same life! I was such a simp and blinded by the fact I wanted to keep our family together that I still tried counseling one more time after discovering she was having at minimum an emotional affair during the first round of counseling 🤦‍♂️. After all that everything was still somehow my fault during counseling sessions. I finally called it quits. Sad I let it go that long but I guess the silver lining is I left knowing I tried everything to keep it together for my kids.

👆This. A big contributing factor in 50% of marriages ending in divorce is one of the partners just “isn’t happy anymore.” That same partner will go cheat on their spouse in many cases, looking for that happiness. Not near as many spouses willing to sacrifice anymore for the sake of their family. Never mind the trauma you put your kids through when you rip your family apart! If your not happy 100% of the time like all your friends appear to be on social media, file a divorce and start over! No ne…

I’ll probably get a lot of downvotes for this but, based on your limited assets, the house being your parents, and your comment below saying she’s a good mom and you want 50% custody, I would do this (assuming you are 100% sure you want out of this marriage). -Take half the money out of joint account now -Confront her on Monday, let her know you discovered the cheating, and she needs to be out of your house within a week. Tell her you are willing to move forward with this divorce through a joint…

I have 3 kids (9, 6, 4) I share 50% custody with. My ex-wife and I are in the process of getting divorced and I moved out and rented an apartment 6 months ago, so our timeline is pretty similar. It’s been a transition getting adjusted to the new schedule, as half the time I’m super busy taking care of them all (dinner after work, homework, baths, stories/prayers at bedtime, planning fun activities for us all on the weekend). The other half the time I don’t have them it’s only me and 100% opposit…

Fair point. I’m about 10 years older than you so we probably are in different stages of our lives. Based on the few comments I read from your profile, I think your ex is a dipshit and you are a beautiful soul. I’m sure things will work out in your favor. Sending positive vibes and prayers to you and your kid!

No way! I think women are more likely to want that commitment from men. I feel like there are more people than I realized initially that married, had kids, separated for whatever reason, and now don’t want to ever repeat it (both men and women). A woman with the response you stated above would be the kind of partner I would be looking for.

Amen to that! Finally getting out of a marriage I tried so hard to make work for my kids. I doubt I ever find anyone else but if so they will know upfront I’m never getting married. My wife totally changed once she had a ring on. Sorry you are going through this hurt OP. I have been there and no words can really help right now. Just know it can only go up from here. I tried working through marriage counseling on and off for a year after I found text messages between her and what I thought was a …
