“Wahh wahh wahh not my fault wahh wahh you should be grateful you can support me cos I’ll be making lots of money like at LEAST $11 an hour and mom says I can stay in her basement as long as I like”

So much this. I’ve been involved in the feminist movement since the 80s (in varying degrees subject to personal commitments). Back then, we were so concerned about carving out spaces for women, we didn’t stop to ask whether we were including ALL women. We didn’t address the different needs of women of colour. We didn’t include them in the way we should have. I was very young then, so I didn’t see it or understand it. But then time passed and I kept seeing this same concern - and justifiable ange…

That looks so pretty on you. Love that style. I’m the same, I don’t wear much jewellery but what I do have is good quality. No way I’m wearing something that will turn my skin green to seem “grateful” for the thought, just as no man who likes a good watch is going to wear a cheap plastic gum ball one.

Ugh being an angry cryer is the worst. They think you’re being sad and emotional over them when really it’s a “you’re a fucking douchebag” response.

If any mods want to groom me into hating men, I like chocolate covered raisins and cheese straws.

Are you sure you’re even a woman? I mean, he was going to give you a RING! Isn’t that what you’ve been pining for all these years? Just kidding. Well done for moving on, suggest you tell him to sell the ring to fund his beachside banana stand or whatever it is he’s doing.

Have you ever read The Women’s Room? One of its strongest messages is - don’t ever be financially dependant on a man.

For the avoidance of doubt to any woman reading this who has been in this position - if he ignored you or pressured you to carry on, and you felt you had to because he “couldn’t stop” - if his mother had suddenly walked into the room he would have leapt off you. He can ALWAYS stop, he chose not to.

Things like this are worded incorrectly. It’s not a case of “would you LET”, but rather “would you choose to be with someone who...”. When issues like this come up in a relationship, it’s not a case of allowing or disallowing something, but making your boundaries clear and letting them know that while they are free to make these choices, you have choices too. Phrasing it as “would you let” perpetuates the idea that to disagree is to be controlling, rather than being true to your boundaries.

He doesn’t MIND the age gap? He doesn’t MIND? What an absolute saint of a man. I hope she makes note of that so she can tell her future children (where any daughter will obviously look like her) how much of a selfless man their father is. “Kids he could have gone after a woman his own age, but he took pity on me and sacrificed himself even though I was barely 18. Tiffany, don’t wear that short PJ set please, you know how it distracts him”

I married quite late in life (40s), by which point I’d raised two children as a single parent and they were young adults. I was quite sure that I didn’t want to then take on another young family. You should have seen the absolute shock some of these men had that I wouldn’t consider dating them if they had young children - they absolutely saw it as a selling point.

Not following the logic. I don’t mind if my husband uses his body to put up some shelves for my friend. I’d rather he didn’t use it to fuck her.

Men like this cannot conceive of a feminism that doesn’t centre them. This is what liberal feminism has done - made them think that we have to consider the male perspective. MEN can consider the male perspective. They can look out for themselves, they’ve always managed that just fine in the past.

If you’re tempted to do this - think about someone you know, or in your past. Someone who you dated that you can’t believe you ever had feelings for. Now imagine that that paragraph you’ve written is from that person to you. Does it make you feel all warm and fuzzy towards him, or does it make you cringe and feel embarrassed for him. Silence says everything.

Is it “fair” that men have no say from the point of conception? I can understand why some think not. But that doesn’t change anything. It’s not “fair” that women carry a pregnancy. It’s not “fair” that a woman gives birth. It’s not “fair” that child rearing takes a hit to a woman’s earning potential. So for the sake of argument let’s agree that’s it’s not “fair” men are on the hook - they need to understand that and accept that their only way out of years of responsibility is either get a vasect…

I got this too, and another similar one a few days ago. Dunno about “needing a man”, my husband might have something to say about that.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
