| 4 | Divorced then back together? My aunt did this when I was about 8. Divorced him because he was cheating on her, and he even tried to tell the judge their kids weren’t his. Judge said no way - they looked just like him (this was about 50 years ago, so paternity tests weren’t used). So I grew up knowing Uncle was a dirtbag. Then ten years later he got cancer, his girlfriend dumped him, and my aunt remarried him so she could take care of him while he was dying, also while looking after her aging mother. She was a saint. | 2 | At what point do you need a lawyer? Not in our state - you have to live apart for a year and a day before filing for divorce. Luckily they never combined finances. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/09/22 11:16 AM |
| 1 | At what point do you need a lawyer? They’ve been married only 2 years and had the house for 1. They have no joint accounts whatsoever, and he’s made every house payment out of his own account. I know in our state what they brought to the marriage is theirs. I’ve also heard that if they didn’t co-mingle funds it’s possible they will just divide up the house and furnishings and be done. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/09/22 12:40 AM |
| 3 | At what point do you need a lawyer? It was actually the other way around - he did it first out of frustration with her horrible alcoholism. She did it to get back at him. They overpaid for the house, so not much equity in it. He’s made all the house payments since they bought it about a year ago. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/09/22 08:23 PM |

| 2 | At what point do you need a lawyer? That’s what I told him, plus he’s the only one who has been making the payments on it. In our state you have to be physically separated for a year and a day before filing for divorce, so he needs to figure out how to make that happen as soon as possible. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/09/22 05:52 PM |
