I feel like a broken record because I just posted this a few hours ago but: read Deleuze and Guattari's Anti-Oedipus: Capitalism and Schizophrenia. The "mental healthcare" industry is the mother of all scams, a single page of Anti-Oedipus was more edifying to me than years of therapy.

This is the fundamental paradox of age gap criticism that I never see anyone highlight. If age gap relationships are bad because of power imbalance, and if stipulatively you are a loser (qua being cripplingly behind in social and career development or however you want to precisely define this), then by the very logic that is animating the criticism in the first place, you should be looking to people younger than you to avoid a power imbalance. The malicious character here is the guy who could ha…

I feel like there's something overlooked here in that your commentary about women centers on deliberate and intentional transgression of gender roles (e.g. a woman shaving her head and cross-dressing) but in order to point out supposed hypocrisy you are making this the equivalent of unwanted and unintentional failure to live up to gender roles on the part of men. These are quite different phenomena. A proper example would be to point to someone like Imane Khelif who was widely attacked for being…

But what i can not understand is why not go to a therapist or a psychiatrist if they are depressed. I strongly encourage you read Deleuze and Guattari's Anti-Oedipus (easy to find online), it's an immensely challenging text but also an immensely rewarding one that dealt a definitive blow to psychiatry as a legitimate enterprise. Psychiatry's actual function is to reify social hierarchies by molding the people who destabilize them back into stable elements. "If desire is repressed, it is because …

An epiphany I had while watching an NWSL game: it's pretty common in this sub and on reddit in general, when people are running through the litany of social organizations men can join to meet women naturally and form connections, to recommend local rec sports leagues. But even at the rec level, sports leagues are gender-segregated, aren't they?

I was gonna write the exact same thing, I've seen it happen online but literally never once in my life have I heard a man of any age or background complain about women dressing scantily.

This, 75% of what I see people say about bars on here makes me think they've never hung out in a bar in their life and are basing their entire understanding on Hollywood movies where some guy walks into a bar, sits next to a lone woman at the counter, and then it cuts to them having sex. In reality I almost never see women go to bars solo, most are with a date/boyfriend and the rest are with their girl friends for a night out.

Oh okay, that makes sense. As someone who hasn't had Instagram since 2012 I've been kind of blindsided by the way it apparently turned into a huge part of dating.

Well of course you can't, if you already weeded out any woman with standards and self respect. Maybe you should choose different standards and not just a woman who is fine with minimal to no effort. I've said this before but I seriously can't wrap my mind around how many people in this sub seem to believe that men with a batting average of 0 would somehow increase their success by having higher standards. If you're 35 years old and have never had a woman attracted to you in your life, your only …

Dumb question but what are the screenshots you've been posting from, Tinder chat? Grindr? Android? I don't recognize the UI.

Rape is about power, not sex. This is a very old and tired canard. I'm not sure if I can link it here but there's a great article that touches on this 'it's not about sex' nonsense from a Marxist blogger: Another example of the above trend highlighted by MacKinnon, this time within the feminist movement, is the tendency for some feminists (e.g. Susan Brownmiller in her book Against Our Will) to essentially define violent / harmful sex out of existence by claiming that rape is "violence" and not …

Over the course of my 20s I've come to the odd realization that I seem to have a thing for voices, on two separate occasions I heard a woman say something while outside my field of vision and was just immediately smitten by her (the top comment reminded me of this because in at least one case I remember it being some corny joke/comment). One of them turned out to be in a relationship already, the second I ended up spending a fair bit of time with and to this day she's the only woman I have ever …

I've seen tons of obvious ChatGPT-written stuff here recently (to the point where it annoys the hell out of me) but I don't get that vibe from this at all.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/11/25 08:07 AM

I recently read Hans Asperger's original clinal report on what we now just call autism and interestingly his term for it was "autistic psychopathy", he considered the whole phenomenon to be something under the umbrella of psychopathy.

I will never understand why everyone on reddit talks about this like we all live in Amsterdam and not countries where prostitution is a highly illegal underground business. Might as well be saying "just go buy some heroin and an RPG-7."

Of all genres of bizarre takes that keep coming up in this sub, "men who have never had a woman attracted to them should have higher standards" is one of the strangest. It's like saying some impoverished Dalit in Bangalore should be more picky about the job offers he's getting from New York financial firms.

Books men like to read vs books women like to read Not beating the allegations given I have a reading list of like 20k pages and it's almost all philosophy and political theory. Then again the list is itself for the purpose of writing romance/erotica so I'm left in a paradox.

I think the emphasis there is specifically on one. Like I have an extremely close group of friends that I've known for 15 years but even still it's often awkward to keep a conversation going one-on-one. There's a popular comedy sketch about this exact phenomenon but sadly it's not in English.

Okay I'm glad I'm not the only one, every time I start browsing this sub again for a few days I legit come out mentally broken and shellshocked in a way I've never really experienced anywhere else on the internet.

Steroid and PED use has skyrocketed among teen and young men I thought this was a canard but a few weeks back I came across some account of someone looksmaxxing with low steroid doses, then I got to the end and it said something like "I'm 15 now but when I'm 18 I want to hop on tren too". Almost spit my drink.

Free porn, affordable video games you can play with friends online, social media where you can get hours off dopamine hits from your sofa I'll grant you the rise of UberEats type stuff, but the quoted aspects were exactly the same 10 years ago (speaking as someone who was 19 in 2015).

you will naturally find yourself in environments where those people are and this is where the magic happens As someone who spent 11 years in academia bouncing between Ivy League and Russell Group universities I honestly can't say it made one iota of a difference. If I could go back in time to 2014 I would have gone into agriculture or something.

Fascinating that black women are by far the most morally consistent when it comes to judging male vs female infidelity.

it seems that many men here ignore / don’t know about the option of dating through your social circle (“warm” approach) I'm positive that anyone here with women in their social circle would be doing this first and foremost, the problem comes when you don't have women in your social circle.

In real life, people are much less adept at guessing individuals’ ages than you might think This is a hugely important factor that I never see come up in age gap discourse. I just experienced this at a bar last week when I struck up a conversation with a guy who I figured was maybe a bit younger than me, say 26 or 27, and then learned he was 38.

In what universe is a 22 year old "super young"? The whole premise of this exchange is bizarre to me because 22 is post-college age, I (29) certainly am in the same stage I was at 22.

If you’re choosier as a man, your attention means more to us ladies. You're conflating population-level and individual-level phenomena here. In essence -- and I feel like a lot of the issues that come up in this sub could be likened to this -- it's a giant Prisoner's Dilemma where everybody is defecting. But since everybody is defecting, the one guy who tries to make a difference by cooperating is only screwing himself over. For this to work you'd need to simultaneously convince every man in the…

If you go through 4 years of college and are trying to interact with women 'normally' but have received zero interest, then that is a clear sign you are pretty unattractive to the opposite sex. This is exactly my answer after seeing so much discussion on the ForeverAlone subreddit about when it's too early to claim to be FA. If you make it through college with zero dates it doesn't mean you're already doomed but you are undeniably not normal in some regard.

This is the essence of like 99% of misunderstanding and animosity in this sub. Men who aren't even having IRL interactions with women in the first place are constantly assumed to be the same group of men having toxic and alienating interactions with women and told to fix their personal/moral failings, which in turn pisses people off, which in turn spurs even more recriminations.

No joke my parents met in a library, granted this was in the early 90s so a very different dating landscape from today.
