She bought a plane ticket for the following Friday and just up and left me and our daughter. I filed for divorce a year later using The Hague convention international service.

Yeah, it’s quite the conflict of interest for them as a business!

I told mine. Told him my mediation / court schedule, including deadlines for filing documents, etc. It made it so much easier to navigate this time in my life. He was very supportive and accommodating. Best boss ever.

Thankfully, my ex fucked off to a foreign country and the most we ever deal with is a half hour FaceTime call each week. But … it has made getting a passport for my daughter difficult, because my ex refuses to fill out the proper paperwork to give consent.

Sorry you’re going through this. Really. For me what has worked is just to consider the woman who I have those happy memories with as dead. Replaced by someone else with whom I have to deal with solely due to co-parenting, nothing more. They are not the same person to me.

Think about what you want life to look like a couple years from now, and start making it a reality. A journey of a thousands miles begins with one step. Take that step, take another, then another. Treat as such. That doesn’t mean be petty or what not. It means be smart, and look out for your own int…

Really disappointed I didn’t get to see the one person who stopped to check on the guy.
