Bi-polar or borderline? Either is a PITA.

It's definitely something you'd have to plan and execute very, very carefully. More details of how you accomplished this would be helpful. I could think of specifically documenting her deficiencies as being helpful.

If you're suggesting marrying the woman to slightly increase chances of gaining custody, I'd strongly discourage that. Married women have more claims on a guy than unmarried ones. Right now the issue is child support and custody. Not other assets and/or ongoing abuse claims.

Finding out what statutory CS payments are likely to be, what the formula is based on, how this varies with changes in situation, and how locked-in the support payments can be made (the usual problem is that you're locked into a relationship with ex + child for the next 18 years, and she'll try additional games).

This. If you're lawyering up, she doesn't need to know until the court date (well, there will be filings and stuff before then, but this isn't information you volunteer in an adversarial situation).

This is what is known in the trade as "grasping at straws". I've witnessed similar when an attorney's got little else to go on. Actually, it's like he's not even trying that hard if this is the best he can come up with. Basically pleading for a bit of compassion / lenience / sympathy. Didn't get him much by the judgment and sentence.

That quote is from her attorney. She's getting her money's worth from him in the press if not the courts. The judge and jury have spoken. She's a bad person. Good people don't go to gaol convicted of crimes (though truthfully she should do more time).

I moved cross-country for my senior year of HS. Old school was good but reasonably sane about discipline. New school had crazy stupid policies like not being able to use the library without a pass. I was in the library at lunch working on an assignment, got sent to the principle's office. Told Mom when I got home. They called her and got a German mother earful about how mind-bogglingly idiotic their policies were. Never heard another thing about it. I love you, Mom.

Some years back when I was working at a Boys & Girls Club, one of the brighter middle school students asked for help with an essay she was writing. She showed me the citation format her teacher had requested, and I suggested she use MLA, showed her how and turned up the format online. Came back a few days later to say she'd gotten extra credit on account of that. Really bright kid. She'd be finishing HS / starting college about now.

Doesn't matter so long as there's a vocal minority, even of one, on the PTA. Particularly if this hits the news. See my post above: http://www.reddit.com/r/MensRights/comments/12xwml/im_in_high_school_and_just_got_an_0_on_an_essay/c6z6zfu

The more broadly you air this, the more likely you'll find someone who sympathizes with your PoV. Even if most don't, either opposing it or not caring, you're going to create conflict. By documenting and citing references supporting his statements, Dohreen can substantiate both that his facts do square, and note that the issue on which he was graded wasn't rhetoric or composition, but his point of view. The teacher, and more so the principle and school board, abhor conflict, in general. This cou…

All the more reason to take care of yourself. Good Calories, Bad Calories. Several more recent books as well. Taubes did an AMA here yesterday. What if it's all been a big fat lie is the digest version of GCBC.

With that much Pepsi (unless it's diet), I'd still suspect diabetes. Even the diet stuff ain't great for you. Water, tea. What you're meant to drink.

Not an attorney, not that familiar with the process. My general understanding of any legal agreement (essentially: a binding contract) is that everything's up for negotiation. The prenup sets the baseline, but if something falls outside of it (and many child custody arrangements do, as might significant changes to wealth or other issues), then that becomes a bargaining point. Movies, last I checked, aren't binding legal precedent.

There are also limits (varying by state) as to what a prenup can and cannot protect, as well as how far in advance of the marriage the prenup must be signed (to prevent coercive agreements). Prenups generally will NOT absolve you of child support or other obligations, many of which will exist regardless of your marriage status at the time of any child's birth. In some states (I'm familiar with California), division of assets is fairly formulaic, and assets (or debts) pre-existing the marriage ar…
