No, but they do change based on who counts them. And wage gap numbers are always given as a range because every study comes up with something different. The gap is shown to be around 22 percent most of the time, adjusted pay gap is around 4-7. Only the adjusted pay gap implies discrimination, so 4-7% doesn't make up the base if the total is 22%. Decisions are the base, not discrimination.

Unpaid work is completely irrelevant to a discussion about wage, unpaid work is mostly voluntary, how often you need to do the laundry, clean the house, etc. They are chores, and somebody shouldn't be paid more in their job because they do a lot of chores at home.

Or how the gap takes all median incomes from all men and women to get the large numbers, and that gap shrinks significantly when you factor in experience and job type? After a bit more reading on adjusted wage gap it does seem like it's pretty unexplainable, which implies discrimination. It does vary a lot depending on who is doing the study though. I agree that the gap we have is due to our culture and how it places women as the household figures and men as the bread winners. It's an earning gap, not a wage gap. I forget the country, one of the Scandinavian ones, but it does year to year surveys like this to track data, and they've found almost the exact opposite gap when comparing men who are primary care takers to single women. There is a culture of women doing the housework that is effecting this gap, but it's not discrimination and honestly, not an issue.

Now I don't have all the details, but a guy I went to school with made a case in a child rape case that he was effectively a minor because of his mental state. Some kind of psychologist met with him and testified in court that he had the mental state of someone 17 years old or younger. He was 20 at the time he slept with a 15 year old. He might have had to still register as a sex offender but his final sentence had no jail time.
