If it were mandatory to give women period leave, who would want to hire women- having to pay the same rate for them to be at work 75% of the time? Waste of cash. And then the hiring preference for people who dont need such leave would be seen as misogyny

Oh but they're also asked disgusting questions about who designed their expensive outfits that they were totally not wearing to be asked about

Yeah the percentage of anything will go up super high if you narrow things down enough with the right factors

I checked the stats earlier and it's looking like ~75% men. I looked at a few sources from like the 80s up til 2014, and the numbers hardly changed, even outside the US. They put so much effort into twisting words around to make it look like women have it worse. I have to do a video on this.

Wow that is a good point. I'm probably going to do a full video on this later today. Another point I noticed is that they say that 65% of mass shooting victims are women and children, but that doesn't really mean anything for her point that this is a women's issue. How many of those kids were boys? If someone shoots up a classroom at an all-boys school with a female teacher, 100% of the fatalities would be "women and children" and Hillary could call that a women's issue, even though women would …

Apart from that, how does that number stack up against men who are shot and killed by either gender? I mean like by people other than their partners?

Good to know unicorns exist too then. Actually if I think about it, does this mean it will cease to exist once we acknowledge its existence? This logic is so dumb.

Another problem though is that women tend to not get into much trouble for illegal stuff as men do

I like that his idea of standing up for women is taking a little less of their money. 10/10 gg He's probably doing a favour for men though- I bet there are tons who would have considered wasting $40 on one of his shows, but wouldn't drop 100, and now they don't have to do either.

From what I know about Men's Studies and its goals, I think it's better that it has fewer books

I think that might actually be her point though- she thinks the good people who want equality for everyone should be called normal, and everyone else should be called sexist, whether they're more biased towards men or women. Judging by the other stuff she said in that interview, she doesn't seem to believe that all modern feminists fit the "dictionary" definition of what feminists should be like.

But guys, feminism is about equality, and it wants to help men too

There seem to be a lot of comments in here from people who are confused about the significance of the martial arts girl. She is very clearly fighting The Patriarchy, and if you can't see this, I know it's because you are choosing to ignore it. (For real though what the fuck was that about?) Anyway onto the main point, I love how they're like "hmmm... We pay so much attention to girls early in life, and very little boys, and as such, girls do very well early in life... It feels like there's a pro…

I could tell from the beginning that this would be what happens to BLM. They have the most convenient excuse to say and do whatever they want, because if you criticise them, it means you think black lives don't matter. Exactly the same way disagreeing with feminism or a feminist makes you a misogynist.

Got a BA Hons in Cultural Studies, and while this may be a pleb degree, I think I'm qualified to say that complaining about cultural appropriation is dumb. Cultures die by keeping to themselves.

"Where's Egypt? Can you tell me where Egypt is?" Does she know that not all African people are black? And that her being black doesn't mean she's from Africa, and doesn't mean her culture has anything to do with Egyptian culture? There are just so many flaws in her logic.

Girl: daddy, I wanna be a web developer! Father: that's great, Susan, you can do anything. Boy: me too! I also want to develop stuff! Father: you can fuck right off with that male privilege of yours. Go do your sister's homework or something.

Either way, I'm surprised and quite happy to see something from BuzzFeed posted here not because it's dumb, but because they actually brought up something that affects men and not women.

This is even worse than what's normally called victim blaming though- normally that means the victim is at fault for being the target of a crime. In this case, the victims are actually being called the criminals

Using words like this in any kind of professional setting just seems so cringy
/r/MensRights11/02/16 02:13 PM

My point is that everything you've been saying suggests you believe people accused of crimes are guilty until proven innocent

So you know that he isn't guilty of everything he's been accused of, and you still feel it should be illegal for him to say so?
/r/MensRights24/01/16 12:56 AM

We. Do. Not. Know. That. He Is. Guilty. Yet. He probably did rape a lot of the women who accused him, but we don't know that he raped every single person who accused him of rape.
/r/MensRights24/01/16 12:53 AM

Just because the court makes mistakes in some, or even many cases, it doesn't mean you personally would judge every case better than the court would
/r/MensRights24/01/16 12:47 AM
6

Because the point of court cases and stuff is to allow people to defend themselves- if it can't be proven beyond reasonable doubt that they committed the crimes, they should not be punished, because nobody is guilty until they are proven to be guilty. He's not defending himself against accusations of crimes he did commit, he's defending himself against accusations of crimes he's been accused of having committed, and there is a difference.
/r/MensRights24/01/16 12:44 AM

Like how it was proven that Cosby raped every women who accused him? Even if he raped one, or even most of them, 99%≠100%. People should not be punished for crimes they did not commit, even if there were other crimes they did commit, and it should never be illegal to defend yourself from accusations.

Why did you rape me at that party last weekend? And all the other people commenting on this post too? What kind of disgusting person are you? I bet you'll even deny it ever happened, you despicable human. You should go to jail for acting like it never happened.

Men suck at oppressing women if we do it by inserting information biased towards them on every article possible.

I noticed those exact things when I saw this on Facebook. In a comment, she claims she's survived rape 10 times- if the other 9 times were anything like this example, there were so many steps she could have taken Of course rape is bad, and the rapists are in the wrong, but how stupid do you have to be to let yourself get caught in that kind of situation ten times? All this stuff is doing is teaching women that they aren't responsible for their own safety, and they don't have to try to be cautiou…

Yeah, men in Germany should have to wear like a yellow badge or something to show that they are male, so that the country knows how to treat them. Why stop at a curfew? They should be sent to camps, and kept there to die, because every one of them is responsible for what a few of them have done. Just gas them.

I wanted to find out what the male statistics are like, and while I couldn't find the stats for 2015, I got the rates for 2010-2012, and it's pretty much exactly what everyone here was expecting. Ctrl+F Table 10 if you want to find the part of the page I'm talking about. Total homicides of women from 2010-2012: 182 Total homicides of men from 2010-2012: 328 That's 36% women and 64% men It should be noted that males are stated to have made up 85% of the offenders (453 male offenders vs 79 females…

You know how in 1984 they have the newspeak dictionary? And every so often The Party would release a new edition with certain words having been removed and some being given completely new meanings? I feel like that's what wikipedia's becoming

Censorship is definitely one of the key issues of GamerGate. It's also one of the worst things about feminism. A lot of emphasis is placed on deflecting criticism, and one of the main ways they do this is by attacking the credibility of their critics. The "Gamers are Dead" articles were a fantastic example of this behaviour. Gamers shouldn't be believed when criticising journalists or developers, because they're just misogynistic cishet white males who live in their mothers' basements anyway. Ap…

This post was so close to being a good one. So close that I feel the problem with it could easily be missed. It's not a major issue, but I feel that subtle stuff like this is still a problem

I'm not the one who's closed off debate though- they don't listen to anything I say at all, and if they do, it's just to take my words out of context. I'm sure at some point they'll basically calm down though, and they'll be more open to hearing my side of things eventually. It's just that right now it's making me feel quite alone.

Thanks :P my supervisor is fantastic, but the research proposal committee thing is all politically correct and stuff, so he suggested I write the proposal to make it look like a subcultural analysis on third and fourth wave feminism. Good luck with your MA too :) it sounds like a really interesting topic. I'm really glad I found this subreddit, because as sad as a lot of the content is, there's also a lot of really nice stuff here, and I always feel a lot better after coming here. The users and …

It's actually really creepy to think about :/ especially when you look at it from enough of a distance, and it just seems so innocuous. I mean it's supposed to be a movement empowering women and getting rid of their disadvantages- how could that possibly be bad? A few years ago, I had no idea feminism was such a terrible movement, and I really do think that's what makes it so dangerous.

Thanks so much for all your comments- I really appreciate all the stuff everyone's saying, and it's helping me be a little more optimistic. Even though I am losing all of these friends, I'm sure I'll meet more good ones who aren't crazy. Maybe the ones I lost will come to their senses, but even if I don't you guys are right, and it's not a massive loss.

I'm really sorry to hear about all of that, but thanks for your comment. I'm actually doing my MA (in Media and Cultural Studies) on how subcultures become trash, and my main example is feminism. I like to think that feminism is dying, but I saw a video of a CH Sommers interview from 1994 and she was complaining about the same stuff- fake statistics, guilt tripping non-feminist women, and everything else we complain about now. I really hope it doesn't go on for another 20 years.

I always pick my words very carefully when talking about this kind of stuff, but the problem was that I didn't realise my friends weren't actually listening to what I was saying anyway

Thanks a lot for this message. The other thing about this is that I'm not even usually the one who starts it. In most of the cases, I was just in the middle of a normal conversation with them, when their views would come up, and I'd disagree with them, and before the even gave me a chance to explain why I disagree, they stopped listening and made my arguments for me. I'll definitely start looking around for some men's groups, and if I can't find any, I'll try start one.
