And that's kind of my point. I'm sure lots of people would agree with that binary regardless of how accurate it is as a statistical claim. It's a useful rhetorical tactic.

I assume they are trying to apply those words in the same way that homophobia could argued to be applied. When you think about it, homophobia is probably more of an accusation about the inner workings of the so-called homophobe than an indictment of their actual opinion of homosexuality. You know how there's been some vocally anti-gay preachers over the years who eventually were caught having wild, gay sex, sometimes with boys or prostitutes? That proves that people who are vocally against the n…

It's only brainwashing when the person making the accusation doesn't agree with the end result. It's kind of similar to the application of words like propaganda and conspiracy theory.

.. circumcision. Gotcha. That has nothing to do with my question. I'm not even saying I necessarily agree with the religious motivations people have for things because I'm not religious myself. I just mean that just because someone's reasoning is questionable doesn't mean the position itself is one that ought to be discarded, although I'm also not saying that one should adopt positions unless there is a compelling argument for it either. There's also an interesting talk about how the plant based…

What exactly are you arguing here? That because the most vocal opponents of abortion are religious (or even are against abortion for religious reasons), abortion is ethical / moral by default?

If I may ask, what exactly are you arguing for here? That we not criticize feminists or feminism? And to what end? Are you suggesting that the reputation of the MRM is because of people being broadly critical of feminism?

Also, just the introduction of male birth control in general. Of course, that's more of a technological issue than an issue of rights. I have no doubt that whatever company develops a male birth control pill with tolerable side effects would probably go down in history as one of the most profitable drug companies.

"Reproductive rights" is a phrase borders on doublespeak IMO. Reproductive rights are essentially a euphemistic phrase for women having access to abortion, which is kind of the opposite of reproduction. Perhaps there are actually other things under the umbrella of "reproductive rights," but 10 times out of 10 (at least in my experience), when that phrase is used, they're arguing for abortion. Beyond that, the obvious link between a woman's right to choose whether or not to abort the child is tha…

Presumably less than 30% of them since women initiate ~70% of divorces.

I don't think /u/kellykebab's point was that the drug war hasn't disproportionately affected black males. His point is that the sentencing disparity is far worse when you compare men and women vs. black and white. I suppose the implication being that even if we assume both disparities are predominantly due to discrimination in whatever way you'd like to argue, you would get a bigger bang for your buck by focusing on the gender disparity rather than the racial disparity.

For those who were asking for timestamps, I happened to be listening to Rantzerker 99 on HBR and the section in which he's referencing is about 30 minutes in (at least in their audio platform). The quote OP posted was basically in the context of someone saying they don't like Jordan Peterson due to him being a tradcon. (youtube link) I don't know if we can really say that she is in opposition to men's "liberation" based on the 3-4 minute clip of her talking about her sympathizing with people lik…

It's not really a strawman as much as it's a no true scottsman fallacy. Feminism is an ideology, not an action. Western feminists are no less feminist than this lady, assuming she even identifies as one. As such, I have an issue with the framing of this meme. I've always thought the problem with feminism, especially in the context of the MRM, is that it's an incomplete, subjective, simplistic and non-falsifiable set of hypotheses that assumes, in the end, women are the only demographic about who…

Given the circumstance, I could look past that gaffe if that was the only dumb thing he said. The guy just said "What about Aleppo" without any real context, and if they were talking about something different previously, I could certainly understand not remembering right off the significance of Aleppo. His tone policing about the phrase illegal immigrants during an interview was what made me realize I coudln't vote for Johnson.

The when, where and how of these alleged trickle down benefits are anybody's guess. I think a much more fundamental question must be answered before we even get to the discussion of how dismantling patriarchy helps men. How can we ever know when patriarchy has been defeated? Patriarchy as a concept is unfalsifiable, so I have no idea how you can ever empirically say when patriarchy is no longer an issue.

MRA and Feminists made totally different points, and I can't understand who is right, the truth has to be in the middle. Is that still her position? The fact she no longer identifies as a feminist makes me think she doesn't really believe the truth is in the middle anymore. The video diaries were shot, AFAIK, when she was still doing her interviews, so they were taken when she her brain was still processing that info. I hear the "masturbation decreases your chance of colon cancer" quite often. Is that anything more than a correlation? Observational studies are really only good enough to make a hypothesis and quite often newspapers and magazines will publish these kinds of findings from one of these observational studies as though it closes the book on a given subject. That's why there's always a new cure and/or cause for cancer every week. That being said, NoFap is less about the masturbation and more about t…

Right. It seems we're using the words more or less the same. I just wanted to make sure we weren't talking past each other. Is this just a gut feeling for you, or do you have something a little less anecdotal to base those assertions on? I'm willing to assume I'm not representative of the male gender, but I don't think that part of me is that unfounded in males. Internalizing a certain amount of criticism is necessary for improvement. Externalizing failure would mean that guy is never improving.…

I'm not sure if I understand what you mean. Is feminism not the epitome of the externalization of failure? This very post is a study attempting to prove the external cause of why women are underrepresented in tech. That sounds like "externalizing failure" if I've ever heard it. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you mean. Women do seem to be a bit more self critical, but I've never known (non-insecure) men to place the blame for their failures on others. Elliot Rogers is a good example of a man who…

I'd say having the kid is the woman's "right," but I don't believe the father should be forced to support the child if he didn't want to have the kid in the first place. A financial abortion if you will. So in the circumstance where the man wants the kid but the woman does not, I would say the woman's right to choose overrides a man's desire for the kid. In the opposite situation, a man's unwillingness to support the child doesn't hinder the woman's right to choose to have the child. Woman shoul…

MRA has been used as an insult for as long as I've known the term, which has only been for a couple years to be fair. It makes sense when you consider that men are thought to be "in power." It's like if a group was started up to fight for "white's rights." It just sounds sexist.. because reasons.

I'm confused. That's Julien from Real Social Dynamics. "msdoom99" likely has nothing to do with him since he has his own youtube channels. As far as Julien's game, shrug. I don't even know the stuff in that video is the worst the guy has done. This is the guy who is pretty well known for calling women sluts and dogs. Taken out of context, I'm sure that sounds horrible. I'm not defending the guy, and it's not like the "PUA scene" is in particularly great standing with conventional society anyway.

Or as you talk to a girl, you next her because she's not fitting your criteria in a conversation, even though she might be ultra interested in you and attractive. Sounds like qualification.

That's about as close as you can get using English equivalents but saying it in its original language it wouldn't sound like under at all. Here's a video about Japanese maidcafes -- the point I've linked to the girl says "tsudere course." (both say tsundere a couple times after that initial one) Not very close to "under," in other words.

That's actually a good point. Most people who go to those types of places, more often than not, go with friends and very rarely venture to meet people outside of their social circle. I know that's been my experience whenever I've gone to a bar or a club with anyone in my social circle -- we generally talk amongst ourselves and only meet people if someone from within our social circle happens to know that "outsider." Of course, that's also bearing in mind the fact that it's probably been a year s…

I'm not really sure what the purpose of this question is. For what it's worth, I'm probably "worse" in every conceivable objective way than you in this area. 31 years old, virgin, never kissed, never been on a date, etc. I've also never really made my feelings known to a girl to whom I was attracted. Movies can teach you things you will use in your 20's. Not all of them but some of them are worth your time. I suppose the tricky question is how can you really tell whether or not a movie is worth your time until you watch it? Do you only watch what other people tell you you "should" watch? I watch a fair amount of media, but most of it doesn't help me relate to people. I'm still "waiting" to meet someone in real life who doesn't balk at the fact the majority of music I listen to is in Japanese…

I'm not the grandparent, but I for one took that UCLA questionnaire and that in itself depressed me. I had "Often" more often than any other option (0 Nevers). "Extreme" loneliness. Many of the questions are things that go through my head verbatim quite frequently about my current social circle. Heh, this article was tailor made for me. I kinda realized the fantasies I have about myself and where I'll be in the next few years weren't really helping me any. I imagine myself being a fit, suave motherfucker in a club and I definitely feel the dopamine hit; I knew it wasn't a good thing how satisfied I felt after I'd imagine myself being in some exotic place (which for me is pretty much anywhere outside of the Bible Belt for me) or approaching some hot woman.. but I suppose I didn't know wh…

That's why you have to be unafraid of failure. You aren't going to be able to internalize what the "right" thing to say is without fucking up a lot previously. So yes, not shutting up might not help you with that single interaction, but making a fool of yourself probably helps a lot more in the long run than agonizing over whether or not you're saying the "right thing." Besides, I'm sure the intent behind those words will make a much bigger difference to their reaction to you instead of the word…

Ultimately this is something only you can decide for yourself. Neither your friends nor some random people on the Internet can decide what makes you authentic. Do you enjoy being extroverted before it tires you out? Are you sure you're not confusing introversion with shyness and/or social anxiety? I'm as introverted as the next guy; social situations where I'm not completely comfortable make me tired as hell. It's definitely something that takes practice, but it becomes second nature after a while. I suppose I had heard of nouning about three years ago, but where I heard it, it was called keyboard backtracking. The idea was the same; listen for potential keywords in their statements and use it to thread the conversation. It's the first time I've heard it called that, but I do it all the time. Take tonight, there was a new girl that came to my skeptics group. I wasn't trying to "game" her but just to get to know her a bit. I didn't really talk directly to her initially but talked to the whole side of my table (there was probably around 12 people so I really only talked to about 5-6 at a time). Just like pick up in general, there are many variables that are out of your control. She might be in a bad mood for some reason. No matter how "smooth" you are, you won't catch the interest of every person/set/girl you approach. It might also just be that you haven't really given her anything that she's interested in talking about. Women are definitely more communal than men, but that does not mean men are stronger or even necessarily independent. The suicide rate for men compared to women also speaks against men being "self healing." Society's idea of a man being a weakling if he asks for help from somebody else is one of the things that got me interested in the MRM in the first place. Lying to a women in order to get her to sleep with you is manipulation. How can you be clear with your intentions and congruent with your intentions if you're lying? As I said, people can be manipulative with or without reading a book on how to have success with women. The very idea of creating an "abundance mentality" (an idea to have enough success with women to feel you have "options") with women might sound manipulative, but that's kinda stretching the meaning of the word. Ultimately, what someone does with the material they learn from the pickup community is up to them, and they may use it to "manipulate" women into sleeping with them. It is not an inherent part of pickup as it is taught now by most of the popular teachers I look at. In fact, most of the general principles of pickup as they are taught now run counter to trying to manipulate someone. But how will I find it out by "shutting down"? Meditation is not "shutting down." Reading your original post, meditation is actually what you need, because it cultivates your ability to be present to the moment. Maybe I should look for a new hobby, or way to put in my time? It never hurts to try something new, however, I also think it's important to avoid the mindset of "some guy said I should get some hobbies so my game improves." You're totally missing the point if that's what you're getting from me. It worked both ways. You're a nice guy if you give thinking you'll get some kind of emotional reciprocation from it You're also a nice guy (well maybe not a nice guy but the same idea as a nice guy) if you actively avoid doing things for somebody thinking you'll get some kind of emotional reaction from the person. I suppose it's because I'm one of those (recovering?) "nice guys," I don't believe this type of person is as much of a minority as you seem to think it is. It's not even people like me are "secretly scheming dicks," it's that because of that insecurity I believed at one point that all I had to offer is what I could do for other people. Why is it still so hard for women to open up? Or if a man openly and very verbally wants to express that he is in fact looking for sex, why is it so hard? Why do people still need a probable deniability tactic when inviting/going to someone's place? It's human nature. I think the way people act has less to do with genetics and more to do with the way one was raised and how they look at the world. There might be a small part of our personality that is genetic, but I'm pretty sure that the vast majority of "alpha male" characteristics can be learned. The fact natural game that goes beyond routines and gambits seems to work at all is proof enough of that fact.

It's sad that a person must pretend that they do not care about the opinion of the one they are hoping to court, in order to obtain their favor. There's a difference between not caring about others and what this submission is suggesting. The key difference is this: we want people who care about us, but I don't think anyone wants to be wrapped up in somebody else's identity. Somebody who is visibly distraught because of a single missed date is a sure sign of somebody who has way too much invested…

It may be a cliche but "life is what happens when you're busy making plans." If nothing else, I definitely know that feel. I get stuck in my head a lot less than I used to, but it's still something that happens a little more than I'd like it to.

Some people go much beyond a "little Fap'n." I think NoFap is good for those kinds of people who have created almost a lifestyle out of masturbating in order to break those habits. It's very easy spend all day inside masturbating if you don't have express reasons for going outside when you get into those kinds of habits. I never made it to a 90 day streak (longest was 38 days), but it seems the habitual fapping I did before attempting to go cold turkey.. those habits are broken. I'm not "NoFappi…

I'm always a little hesitant to "ra-ra go introverts!" when articles like this come up. Not only that, but it seems to be preaching to the choir to an extent with this being posted to a subreddit dedicated to people trying to get off the Internet more than anything else. If anything, it might be interesting to use this as a jump off point about how pick up affects introverts. To be honest, I haven't really started working on my "outer game" yet, but I suppose that's why I mostly lurk. I do agree…

RSD stands for Real Social Dynamics. It's the company that put out Blueprint. If you saw the video for "Hardcase newbies" that was posted a day or two ago, that was also from RSD. From the founder (right?) of the company, actually.

How's that going for you? That's actually kinda hard to answer honestly. Only turned 30 about 6 months ago it didn't really happen that long ago. I could go on forever out my issues, but meh they aren't that interesting anyway. I suppose most of the reason I responded to the post was because he mentioned jacking off and video games, which were both basically the way I passed the time back in the day.. how I avoided life without getting bored. I did eventually get bored of video games once I star…

For what it's worth, I was one of those guys. Thing that sucks for me is that I didn't "wake up" until well after I turned 30. It's pretty easy look back on the last 30 years and be depressed about things, but like you said later.. stay positive, right?

Subscribe to the channel that the video is from if you enjoyed it. Tyler posts blogs and snippets pretty frequently. This is the first one I've seen strictly for hardcore newbies.. but most of the stuff I've seen from him is good.

Heh, in a similar vein -- go to technical school for Microcomputer Programming. I think there was about 3 girls in the whole two years I went to that school.

Yeah, that's what I gathered from it too. I feel like we're missing a few steps in between step 1.) join seddit, ... profit! Like was posted a few days ago, whether it's a FR or a LR, it's nice to point out things other sedditors can learn from your situation.. rather than it just being an excuse to say "see, look what I got."

That quote is very true, even if only technically. Still, I think you're putting words into his mouth he doesn't mean. For example, in that article I linked to you he wrote: Won’t that lead to complacency? If you are fulfilled by watching TV, then yes you will be a bum. You may be motivated by saving endangered animals from a burning rainforest or killing noobs in Modern Warfare. For most of us there will be something that brings excitement to our day and this should motivate us to perform that …

"Not giving a fuck" is not the same as being a selfish asshole. It's better phrased as not being attached to an outcome or something similar to that, but "not giving a fuck" packs a bigger punch than that I suppose. But no where in the actual bullet points does he say anything about not caring about things. Reading his other article about why you shouldn't give a fuck might shed some light on that. Hell, if the guy who wrote that site/blog truly didn't give a fuck, why would he have even written…

So you're saying I should dress in black so I can more easily roundhouse kick her in the back of the head without her noticing?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
