Honestly I'm just sticking around hoping the sub will come back. I miss it a lot.

Love this quote, I'd not heard it before. So true.

Love everything about this. I have to stop forgetting it!

This post is so eye-opening, I'm glad I saw it. If you have to ask for it, it's not something they're putting the thought and effort in to do for you of their own accord (which they should be.)

I've started shushing my male family members whenever they interrupt me and they don't like it. :)

My old ass scrote neighbor told me he married the wrong woman blah blah (he's now divorced), and six months later admitted to cheating on her while married multiple times. Married the wrong woman as in he married a woman who wouldn't put up with his lying, cheating ass. Good for her for leaving.

I've since learned this with romantic relationships but have yet to put it into practice with familial ones. Your post is a welcome reminder.

What a gorgeous arrangement! Seeing flowers always brightens my day. I learned this in my last relationship with a NV ex, everything I've ever dreamed about in life I can give to myself. I'm not waiting for anyone to buy me flowers anymore.

Fantastic post! When I decentered men from my life I become so much happier and less anxious about my future, because I know it'll be awesome regardless if I find the right partner or not.

You absolutely did the right thing, what a creep. Who ghosts someone then shows up at their door two years later and completely unannounced? You dodged a major red flag.

Through a crappy 5 year relationship with a NVM, after ending it I realized that everything I've wanted in life, I gave to myself. Travels to amazing countries, gifts, treating myself well. You have to love yourself enough to give yourself everything you've dreamed about, rather than hope to stumble across a HVM who will do it for you (because more likely they'll be LV anyway.)
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy28/02/22 07:20 PM
15

Wow talk about the trash taking itself out but at the worst possible time. I'm so sorry this happened to you, screw this guy. You'll be okay friend, we are here for you!

Wow this sums up everyone I've ever seen on OLD back before I quit using it. This is hilarious!
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy22/02/22 09:41 PM

As someone who's tried a lot of them, none. It's LVM across the board. I stay away from dating apps now.

I'm glad this worked for you but ohh dear would it never work for me. I would never want to date anyone remotely related to my dad's friends! They are the definition of LV.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy17/02/22 10:18 PM

As a bookworm and a coffee lover, this is comforting to read. I'm fairly introverted and do the majority of my reading at home, so in order to (hopefully) meet HV people I've started gathering a list of cafes to visit and read in.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy17/02/22 10:16 PM

Hard agree. Finally figuring this out has been a welcome addition to my vetting strategy- if they fluff around and mention we should "hang out" or suggest anything LV (coffee date, walk in the park, drinks) then I know this is not a person I would like to invest my time and effort into. Being thoughtful is not that hard, they just don't want to do it.

I mean.. This is clever of her, however if none of the guys she was dating got her flowers for Valentine's Day (literally the bare minimum) I would drop them and start over.

Personally, I believe that you should never hinge your worth/self love/happiness on something you can lose (ie a relationship). Because when that thing leaves, you're left with yourself, and may be tempted to jump into another relationship (likely unhealthy) so that you don't have to be alone. Its important to cultivate a healthy relationship with a partner yes, however I would say its even more important to cultivate a healthy relationship with yourself.

When I was browsing Netflix on the weekend I saw Love is Blind Japan pop up and was curious but didn't end up watching. At your post I will now, as I'm curious to see how the interactions differ compared to where I live. That is awesome these women are seriously vetting their future husband, its important and something I wish the majority of women did in North America.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy15/02/22 03:56 PM

That was not even remotely funny.

I've had this happen to me a lot back when I was OLD, all the guys kept asking for my phone number, instagram or to use other messaging apps. Its frustrating they can't just utilize the dating app chat for a while first (if they are actually serious about dating that is). I know better now to not give out my socials.

Throughout those months after the relationship ending I hadn't blocked him on anything (pre-FDS me) and had attempted to maintain a civil friendship. (narrator: this did not work) He was an asshole to me on my birthday, bailed on our plans and by that point I was fed up. I blocked his phone number, Facebook, Whatsapp, Instagram, everywhere I could think of but had somehow forgotten to get rid of his Snapchat. Then while I was travelling in the Netherlands I saw his private snap story and laughed…

I had to learn this the hard way with my ex some years ago, afterwards I promised myself to never again date a man's potential. Because years in, he was still pulling the same old shit and going nowhere.

What has helped me most is actually studying royal family members from around the world and trying to emulate their dynamic neutral expression. I try to keep my face "soft", soft eyes and soft relaxed mouth/smile muscles and I find that helps take the tension and expressiveness out of my face. This is a great tactic and I will be trying to emulate this myself!

I would've done the same thing- I have this rule as well. There's no way I'm shelling out a ton of money for makeup, hair and a dress only for it to get ruined with icing on my special day. Good on her for leaving!

Thank you for your edit, I have an android and was wondering if there was an equivalent. As a woman who solo travels this is especially frightening. Looks like we have to start checking our coat pockets, hoods and purses before going back to our accommodations now. Ffs.

Honestly big same. I most recently had this experience while dating, the guy was an avoidant type and it felt like pulling teeth to get him to keep up regular communication. So I didn't. And stopped seeing him. Thankfully it was only five dates and I had my eyes opened to this behaviour by FDS.

Speaking as someone with a LVM brother myself, you can't. Instead you should focus on yourself, because you can't save someone from themselves. I learned this the hard way after all the stress and headaches I experienced after trying to help my own younger brother from not going down that path.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy29/11/21 05:40 PM

Absolutely loathe the "let's play it by ear/see how we feel that day" lines. My time is way more valuable than that.

the house in which the couple lives belongs to the mother of the woman. in case of a divorce, the property will not be split This is the plan I have for my future house, it'll be under my parents name so that in case I move a guy in, if we ever split/get married and then split/etc then he can't take half. Just like my grandmother warned my mother who warned me- you have to protect your assets.

Hoooly this absolutely. You can attempt to communicate with him until the cows come home but if he refuses to also make the effort to actively listen and engage with you, it's like talking to a brick wall. I'm glad I know now but wow did I waste so many years trying to get through to someone with their head up their ass.

As a Canadian who's been saving up for a house for the last 4 years, tell me about it ;; and prices are expected to keep rising too. At this rate I'll be a homeowner when I'm in my fifties.

As someone who identifies as demisexual, I do agree that it should be the baseline however there are a ton of men out there (I would venture to even say the majority) who don't subscribe to that and prefer hookup culture instead of building true, genuine connections with partners. The moment you tell them you don't experience sexual attraction until an emotional connection is made, they disappear. Its a shame what has become normalized nowadays.

Love this so much. With my last relationship I definitely learned the hard way not to fall in love with potential. If they wanted to, they would, and if it's not a fuck yes, it's a no!

My boyfriend (who I met after following FDS principles!) waited as long as I wanted to have sex, and then when we did, he told me the first time might not be great because he wanted to go slow and learn what I like and make sure I’m comfortable. It is fantastic that he said this! I'm currently still in the vetting stage with a new prospect and I'll be sure to keep this in mind when/if I decide to progress further to sleeping with him.

If we are speaking strictly in terms of weight loss (and not glow ups in other aspects as well), in my opinion no. I was just as awesome a person as before (when I was at a higher weight) as I am now (at a lower weight) and if he didn't recognize that and didn't pursue me at the weight I was before, there's no way I would date him at the lower weight that I am now. That tells me that he dug everything about me but just couldn't look past the weight, which imo is a bit shallow because looks fade.…

Absolutely fantastic of you to say that to him, I can only hope that if/when I get put in a similar situation that I will have the confidence and strength to say something similar. I think calling men on their shit is an absolute necessity. Guaranteed he's only saying that as a front for not wanting to pursue commitment, and that upon dating him for a while (maybe even years) he still wouldn't be ready/willing to commit. If a relationship traumatized him that badly (of which I doubt) then he sho…

Love this. According to 4B, the movement has at least 4,000 followers, and a feminist YouTube channel that features messages of boycotting marriage has more than 100k subs. Anyone know the name of the Youtube channel they reference? Would love to check it out.

This was me in my last long term relationship. We had been together five years and here I was like a clown, planning for life together, while he had been making future plans for his life, not our life. Of which I was just supposed to go along and still provide him all the benefits with none of the commitment. Thankfully I finally wizened up and left him. Not going through that again, that's for sure.

This whole post rings so true with my experience. My ex was a gamer and spent so much time playing video games rather than develop other hobbies. One year he took an entire year off of work for a "mental health break" (lol), couldn't buy me any presents/do anything for me for Valentines day, our anniversary, my birthday or Christmas (we're talking not even a card folks), BUT he had enough cash to build an entire gaming PC rig with all the trimmings because he needed it for his mental health. My ex in a nutshell. You can try to communicate until the cows come home but if they refuse to comprehend, its like talking to a wall- you're just wasting your energy. I wish I had known about that book sooner, I'll have to read it!

Experienced this firsthand with my last relationship. Communication doesn't work if you're talking to a wall. You can try to communicate until the cows come home but if the other person doesn't want to listen or put in effort to change, then honestly you're better off saving your energy and just leaving. I'm not here to teach someone how to be a good partner.

Same. Turning 28 next month and so much stress from dealing with LVM in my early twenties would've been avoided had I adopted this mindset earlier, though thankfully we know now! There is more to life than marriage and kids- I'm not going to put my life on hold and stop myself from experiencing it just because I'm not willing to settle.

Newb here- what kind of things do you normally talk about during these screening phone calls? I think I should start doing these.

Oof.. Drinks at a bar is no effort, and on the driving thing.. Coming from someone who's ex seemed to think that just driving to see me was effort (its really not, driving requires no thought, effort or planning), I would just delete and move on.

I'd not heard this song before, thank you for sharing it. Really resonates with me!

Please feel free to book plans on your weekend without considering him. After all he hasn't called yet and is only a prospect who you've barely gone out with, make him work around your schedule (rather than planning your schedule around a potential date.) I personally think if he calls on Friday it would be too last minute, but I also plan my schedule in advance and prefer lots of notice. I'm also on team "its a bit odd he hasn't contact you yet"- in this day and age there's really no excuse for…

As a first date? Absolutely. Also you have no idea if he's planning on murdering you and hiding your body in the woods, I would definitely avoid hiking the first few dates until you've properly gotten to know them. Better to be safe.

Oof as an introvert that would exhaust me. Be honest with him! Tell him you aren't a fan of texting and would prefer he didn't chat with you so much.

This is beautiful. It actually warmed my cynical heart a bit to think there are HVM like this out there somewhere.

As someone who recently went on a coffee date (before I had discovered this sub) that ended up being mediocre and not worth my time, I really wish I would've stumbled across this sooner! Spent the entire time sitting there listening to him talk about himself. :/ Then the next day he texted me saying he'd love to meet up again, not likely. Now I know exactly what to say the next time someone suggests a low effort date, thank you!

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
