because i like extreme metal vocals (which i practice in a band and teach on the weekends), progressive metal, art history, graphic design (which i study) and politics. while all of these can be included in a conversation none of these are relatable icebreakers and certainly don‘t make for a flirty convo (as i have been saying before). i didnt want to specify to not seem too „full of myself“ but here we are.

who am i blaming? all i said is that i have trouble striking up promising conversations with certain types of girls that (seem to have, at least on the bio surface level) „basic“ interests that i simply can‘t relate to. also how the hell am i conceited by acknowledging that i simply fill my life with kinda niche stuff that a lot of people can‘t relate too.

i really feel like you think that because you can‘t relate to me or my position but that‘s fine i guess. cheers mate

also “just talking about interests” is sadly not really an option for me at the starting point of an interaction (from my experience at least). i have to get people to be invested in me and my character first. this probably sounds super douche-y to you but again that is my experience. that’s why getting to a point of relatability is usually what i feel is necessary.

oh i have no problem working tinder in general @therocksays2020. @throwawaygang21 i didn’t really mean they are boring people in general, that’s what you read into that. some just seem to have super basic general interests which can be hard for me to relate to, especially when trying to strike up a convo via text. all i was looking for were general principles for these kinds of conversations that would make it easier to find common ground that could then lead to finding out if you’re compatible …

Why so passive aggressive? I thought this would be a place for discussing communication strategies.

i have made some great experiences with tinder and my profile is pretty much on point at this point. if you have any insight on chatting with the mire basic girls irl i‘d gladly take that as well :)

well the problem lies exactly there. i am specifically referring to the kind of girls that are pretty but have stuff like „i like series/food/traveling“ in their bio. there is nothing to inspire an interesting opener. i‘m sure a conversation in reallife would be no problem, but i first have to get the formalities right online.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
