There are more stages to a woman's cycle than the part where we bleed, and each stage contributes a different surge of hormones/ accompanying mood changes and physical symptoms. I can see it being useful for a man to realize that maybe his partner is tired, sore, irritable etc. and to understand why. Once the bleeding starts most of the other, less visible, symptoms have passed. Like others have said though, I don't think it should be expected/ required for men to keep track.
