When I'm feeling stuck and depressed, I like to write down my feelings in a journal. It's kind of like having a mini pity party for myself. After I'm done writing though, that's it: no more wallowing. If you'd like, you could burn the page too. Then, I write one specific goal for myself for the day: it could be as small as doing a chore that you have had to do for a while, or calling up a friend, or exercising for 30 minutes. It's just one thing, so it doesn't seem hard. But I force myself to do…

Hello all! I've been a longtime lurker on RPW but I wanted to introduce myself in the new year :) I'm hoping to start contributing, at least to the weekly goals. I feel like weekly goals are a good way to keep myself accountable and watch my progress. And I love reading about all of your progress because it really motivates me to keep going in my own journey. A little info about me: I'm a 22 year old grad student, just starting dental school. So a lot of my time right now goes into studying, but…

My grandfather used to say that a man isn't someone who uses the power he has to hurt those weaker than him, but someone who uses it to protect those who are weaker. From the things you said, especially about needlessly hurting animals, it sounds like your boyfriend may be in the former category. Obviously, I don't know your boyfriend, so these isolated incidents may not reflect who he is to you, but it's just something to keep in mind. As for being an emotional person, I have this same issue so…

It sounds like your biggest worry is being a financial burden to him. That does seem like a legitimate worry, especially since (like you say) you could make a significant amount of money. But if I were you, I'd also consider how working full-time in a high paying job might affect your relationship; whether you'll be too stressed out to enjoy your time with family or be a real partner to him. Since your motive for working isn't financial in nature, working part-time or in a low stress job might w…

That's great for you! Just a follow-up question: how big a role do finances play in your decision to go to work? If if doesn't play as big a factor, you could consider working part-time or a few days a week so that you can still make your first priority your family. Whatever you decide, talk with your boyfriend about it and let him know that he will always be your first priority :) Good luck!

I'm very new to posting to RPW but I think the most important thing for you right now is keeping calm in small situations like this. It sounds like you get anxious and aggressive very quickly over small issues that could easily be resolved if you remain calm. That can be exhausting for a SO to keep up with. For example, in this situation, if you had perhaps calmly explained that you were a tired after your trip and were worried about entertaining, you and your SO could have come up with other op…

In my home, RP values were ingrained early on as part of my culture. But I came across the RP subreddit by accident one day on reddit. At first, it was shocking to see the anger on the subreddit and I felt rather defensive. Even so, I recognized the truth in a lot of their statements and I soon came across RPW. I loved the atmosphere here and the advice about maintaining your femininity in relationships. I could see a lot of it being applied in my parents' relationship (happily married 30+ years…
