2	Man has to pay $50k. They were never married. I tried finding the actual decision (I'm a lawyer), but couldn't. Some other sources show that the $50,000 was for fraud. The guy shot himself in the foot by testifiying in court that he never intended to marry the chick, despite having proposed and given her a $10K engagement ring. That's an admission of fraud. 6	Man has to pay $50k. They were never married. I bet there's a lot being left out of this article. Note that the "meretricious relationship" argument was the dude's. He was arguing the chick was a glorified prositute (true) and their payment agreement couldn't be enforced by a court, being that such an agreement is illegal. What's very likely being left out is that there was a marriage agreement of some kind, something more than what you see in a normal engagement.
