If they aren't asking for advice, don't give advice. Not a lot of people want their ideas or opinions shot down. Your problem with them is that you think they're lying to themselves, but their problem with you is going to be that some people just want to chat and aren't interested in someone being overly argumentative. Part of being likable is being agreeable when the situation calls for it.

I think you misunderstand what it means to be a philosopher. I didn't say he was a prophet, he's just writing like philosophers write, and it's not always easy for the uneducated to understand.
