I think the point where the differences become barely noticeable when it comes to shoes is quite high. There's a clear difference between $700 shoes and $1500 shoes; mostly in leather quality and finish at that price range though. It's three in the morning here so I'm off to bed. You're right in the sense that most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference but so is the case of fine wines too. If you don't have an interest in shoes then there's really no reason to spend more than $200 because you and almost everyone else won't notice the difference. I generally don't consider anything below Carmina, C&J and similar brands to be of good quality and those are at least 350+ (depending on what country you buy them in ofc).
