It's not just cowardice, it's pissing against the wind. Not everyone wants to deal with the blowback so it's kept as a personal opinion. The environment has been carefully fostered to not allow such dissent so as long as the "stake holders" aren't on board you might as well bide your time

Its the norms that men often practice that aren't healthy in nature such as bottling up their emotions or sexist attitudes towards women and homophobic viewpoints towards non-straight men. These aren't norms, these are just stances on certain aspects of life. Some men bottle up their emotions, some men dump their emotions to anyone who'd listen, it depends on their character, life experience, growing up, etc. Both can be toxic or be absolutely normal men. Both can be unhealthy.

But I also think it gets exaggerated as well It's just not worth risking it usually. There were very few situations in my life where not shedding tears had been impossible, in the ones that were avoidable if I had more restraint the outcome is a mixed bag. I'd rather not cry when I can as the fallout from it can be very unpleasant

This is not a strawman argument. If women were to perform the same as men in all roles and you could get away by paying them less then any company that would mass hire women for all and any roles would get a massive competitive edge on the market. There is no way there is no company like that right now because reasons. You don't need to counter the feminist argument, you need to present a different perspective, in this case economical.

Corporations are always on the lookout to reduce labor costs with automation and hiring immigrants who'd do the same labor for less but when it comes to potential savings on labor by hiring women it's suddenly "bros before hoes, glory to the patriarchy" on the corpo part.

I see what you mean with LGBT community thing but this is also differs from individual to individual. My gay bros with whom I play trivia time to time with don't have patience for anything feminine and genuinely enjoy typical male hobbies and dress accordingly. When it comes to greater hivemind, yeah masculine things aren't embraced. Some people even say gay men are white men of LGBT community as in "top of the privilege" and casually dismissed

Men's equality movement winning sounds like a huge cope for now. It only started registering on people's radars because of how bad things are getting. I wouldn't say it's particularly winning, it's that the situation has gotten so bad that it's becoming a necessity to have such a movement. It's still an uphill fight from here.

There's stuff to like, and not to like. But I do not agree with the "unhinged" part. He's seriously unhinged when he weighs in on stuff directly outside of his field of expertise and that's what he weighs in on all the time lately. It's weird how we as a society are perfectly aware about damage the unrealistic body standards and stereotypes are causing, we are actively fighting against them for women but when it comes to men the whole society takes a real concentrated effort to say "it's different in this case." Is there any insight you can offer to help us navigate this situation given that you've seen a previous similar situation happen as well? The only way to prevent your movement from getting hijacked by "fellow travelers" rather than actual ideological comrades is to gatekeep early and often. There need to be some core principles which you aren't willing to compromise under any circumstance and those who oppose these principles shouldn't be welcome.

American Left preaches this kind of restorative approach for people in lower parts of the progressive stack but the higher you are on it, the less compassion is offered and more condemnation instead. I agree with restorative approach but it needs to be applied wider and become a principle. Unfortunately it goes against other core tenets of the movement so it's not going to be adopted

I think the whole today's approach to men's issues and questions of masculinity is kind of "annoying teacher" way of handling things as in prod from outside with behavior correctional nagging while viciously condemning every misstep. That's why it indeed feels how you describe - all the traditional gender roles but without any negatives. This framework is not for men's liberation at all imo

The way the suburbs, rural environments & many cities are designed really hinders social interaction & the ability for people of all walks of life to cultivate connections/relationships with like-minded people. I still have friends I've made living in the village and I used to struggle immensely making friends in a big city. Making friends in big cities is not that much easier. Feeling of loneliness can even get exacerbated by witnessing so many people every day.

The general gist of it, yes. Except we're not stuck waiting for the high road to appear, we should be building this road instead. Modern feminism is a pissing contest that is turning everything into a zero sum game, the winning move here is not to play but offering a different game to play. For me it's the progressive stack framework, i absolutely loathe this approach and don't understand how people concerned about inequality can use it to make policy. Feminism definitely uses the progressive stack to it's advantage but other groups get their hands in that cookie jar as well and it's incredibly unsavory. Problem is that Republicans can't offer anything better at all so far and voting for third party is just to get the I Voted sticker

I don't see a correlation between economic equality and fertility. Countries with highest fertility rates are poor countries with high inequality index. Countries with lowest inequality indexes have some really low fertility rates and they are looking to attract immigrants. In some cases that doesn't work still, like in Finland. Great social security, benefits for young parents, high standards of life, socialized services but people just don't want to stay there in general. It doesn't bode well …
