I don't want to get married any time soon and he respects that. I think you're right that she's scared I'll commit too fast by getting married or moving in with him. I think the best thing to do is just to set her mind at ease that I'm not going to rush into anything and that I'll finish my studies first before moving out.

She used to be quite feminist until a few years ago and now she's very conservative, I'm still not sure why. I think her own experiences might make her biased since I was conceived when she was 19 and my dad was just a casual partner while she was travelling abroad. She wanted me to travel abroad and see the world too, but I decided against it. Your grandmother seems very disrespectful of your marriage. That would bother me so much if someone did that after I got married. Like your grandma, my m…

The strange thing is that she told me she does like him, she just doesn't like him with me. He has a pretty normal life and career yeah.

Thanks for the perspective. I think I'll be fine not knowing if the grass is greener.

No, he moved about three months after we decided to be exclusive, so in total five months after we got to know each other. It still feels very sudden, but he found a job in the area and decided to take the risk.

His other girlfriends have never been more than three years younger than he is and one was older. I actually asked him about this before we started dating, just to clear that red flag for myself. He has one ex that he dislikes, but the rest weren't bad breakups. He doesn't keep in contact with any of them though, which I prefer.

The red flags she's been most concerned about is the fact that I see my male friends less often. Before I started dating him, I used to go out every weekend with them to bars/clubs but he doesn't feel comfortable with me doing that anymore, at least not alone. I understand this because I wouldn't want him to be hanging out with girls that expressed interest in him in the past, but my mom says it's controlling behavior.

He has a good social life. His family lives quite far away, but we often see his brother and wife who do live here. Financial situation is average and so is his career, enough to live comfortable but nothing spectacular like big gifts really. Red flags (that I probably should have mentioned in the original post) that my mom mentioned is that I've been going out with my male friends less. This is something that he doesn't like, but I honestly understand where he's coming from since I don't have a…
