That's the point of therapy. "Teach a man to fish..." I imagine that you feel much better about your decision to leave now that you've made it yourself, your therapist supported you, and in the future you'll know how to work through similar issues before you find yourself in the exact situation again. Also, can you imagine if you had stayed and she was trying to lose weight? Every time she avoided a meal, exercised, or counted a calorie, she'd be guilt tripping you. Not to mention that the alrea…

Yea, you didn't say any of that in the OP. That's why I asked. Only you can judge whether he's broken his vows or whether there's anything that can be done to salvage the relationship. As for hell, I don't need a threat to keep my word.

Has he done something so egregious, or is the situation so untenable, that your only option is to break your vows? If you're just wanting to weigh your options, there are legal and and general divorce subs better suited for that. Regardless, I wish you the best. I just don't understand why people even take vows if they're not going to take them seriously. Just say "I'll be with you until I find a reason not to."

Icky is a great way to put it, you touched on what was causing me hesitation. I've kept things to my closest friends (and the couple who pressed me) and think I'll keep it that way unless provoked. I'm not happy that she's basically presenting me as wanting a broodmare and unwilling to compromise, while leaving out her infidelity, but ultimately want to move on like you said. Thank you.

I'm sorry man. Yea, I wouldn't have even told people about the other guy if she hadn't lied/massaged the truth and left out all of her culpability.

I think I chose the wrong word. What I really didn't want was this back and forth of her side vs my side of the story and creating a dramatic situation. Also, being perceived as "not getting it" or "not being able to move on." If confronted with her bizarro world version of events, I think I'll just keep it to the point and say I wasn't OK with her dating someone else.

I think it will alleviate the concern I have to keep it simple with one of these. Thank you

This one hit me with a better understanding of the situation and what direction to take, haha.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
