What a completely self-centered view she has. Not a WORD for the people whose lives are ruined when they "select for their children the father who would be best for them" and pick somebody who didn't want children. What a completely STUPID concept, I have never agreed with it and never will. And I'm a woman.

That's crazy. Glad I haven't had to ever look into how the legislation is in my country of origin. Geeeesh.

Unfortunately when people hurl out the word slut they don't also mention their specific definition of it. If you were to call someone a slut, someone might think you are morally judging them for simply having multiple sexual partners. Many people still have such puritanical views.

Yeah women like that are basically victims of fear mongering by an echo chamber that says everything is dangerous. In the end it's a choice a person has to make - whether to live in fear or not.

There are two main ways a period can affect one's work: there's the physical pain, and there's the mood changes. Some women don't suffer from either, some suffer from both or one of them severely. Now, I'm a female and the suggestion in the article really stinks to me, especially if they are suggesting it for all women regardless. But also I think the reason for discomfort is important. People have to go to work despite what their mood is like. If their mom died two weeks ago, they have to go to…

Oh please. Make up your mind, are women hindered by PMS or are they not? You can't have it both ways.

Women Against Rape says (I guess) that the problem is that women are "forced into retracting their rape complaint by police", thereby there are less convictions in legitimate rape cases. I wonder what they claim this looks like. I'm genuinely curious. Are they saying the police are telling the people things like "there's not enough evidence, therefore you'll probably be thrown in jail for lying if you don't retract", or what?

I missed that part about her being American. I have absolutely no need to come up with any excuses for her. If she had been a woman living in India, there is a good chance my comment would have been relevant. Since she isn't, you can just forget about it.

Well, again, nobody wins with this toy segregation business. Girls are being denied something, so are boys.

This is how they're gendered toys: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYBspZbLHYQ Can you imagine boys (generally) wanting to buy the set after seeing this commercial? Yeah, not so much. ETA because I can't brain today and read your comment in the weirdest order (AKA wrong): The "real toys" comment... hmm, obviously nothing wrong with baking sets and dolls and such. But really both/all genders get the short end of the stick with the selection being limited. My annoyance is with how only the boys se…

That's true. But really young children become sensitive to the labeling, succumb to gender stereotyping, and don't want [other gender's] toys for social reasons or because they think they shouldn't like them. For all we know, this young lady specifically wanted to look at the girls section in order to pick a toy that was "approved for girls" as it were, because it's just not cool to have a toy that's only meant for boys to play with.

By the way, did anyone else notice the link to another metro.co.uk article by a woman, telling women to be ashamed of themselves if they didn't offer to pay the last restaurant bill? Thought it was nice to see another perspective right in the "related" section. https://metro.co.uk/2014/11/26/dating-why-women-should-always-offer-to-pay-the-bill-4962384/

Every woman "wants" to pay her own way, but many of them also want money to grow on trees. Same with men. Your point? :P
/r/MensRights30/11/14 10:44 PM

Um, she's an idiot. And many a feminist would be disgusted by her behavior, by the way, because they'd think it's patronizing for a man to assume that she needs him to pay. Many women, feminist or not, would rather men not assume we can't pay for ourselves. This is not a feminist problem. This is an idiot problem.

Yeah don't get me started on gender stereotyping toys. Drives me fucking mad. All that damn pink stuff in the girls toys, with the endless barbies, cooking and fake make up gear... and the boys isle having the real, nice toys, the science gear, the legos with the rest of the color spectrum, the hero characters, the building things... RAAAAAGE :D

When they guy said that he doesn't know if he should still consider himself a feminist That was a joke. It did make my eyes roll in their sockets a little, but still, I'm pretty sure it was meant to be humorous.

I'm not trying to be disrespectful or anything, but how was it mocking male sexuality? I'd like to understand that line of thinking regarding this video. It seemed like harmless banter to me. I thought it was pretty funny, to be honest. Btw, I had absolutely no idea that sex toys like the Fleshlight aren't socially accepted. Yes, I live under a rock.

Maybe if in these cultures, they stopped expecting normal women (and men to a degree) to act like fucking madonnas, they could actually tell their partners the truth (that they've had sex, gasp) without jeopardizing their whole futures. You see, India has a very low percentage of women that are economically active, meaning more of them rely on that marriage happening. It's very easy for people from America or Europe, with all the equal opportunity, to judge women like that for trying to protect …

IDD. I know people here probably won't like it pointed out, but there is many a time I've seen a big queue by the women's toilets, while the men just slide in and out of the mens toilets with no queue at all... because it doesn't take them as long on average to do their business.

We have to go in the stall and lock the door (sometimes takes time if stall is very small), strip the lower half down to our knees (depending on clothes can take a surprising amount of time), and wipe every single time, not just the odd time when we poo. It does take a bit more time in general. Just saying.

I feel very sorry for what you've been through, that's really awful what your exes have done. But it does frustrate me a lot when some people make it about all women, especially when they don't see the double standard where they get totally outraged when women make generalizations about all men that don't apply to most men... yet will turn around and have no qualms about generalizations about the most horrendous of behaviours by individual women. You're dooming your son to a life of unhappiness …

I figure tearing them down will get someone riled up and then next thing you know in the local paper: PUA/MRA mob tears down anti-rape posters. (Ya know, since PUA and MRA are now apparently synonymous, and, you know, who else wouldn't be anti rape (gasp!) than those guys.)

I'm in the UK, haven't seen those (not a visitor to any mens toilets as I'm a female). I wonder how they define "drunk"... This actually makes me angry... NOT JUST FOR MEN - women also, this is so incredibly patronizing. It's treating women like we're children. I mean hell, women, just like men, go to clubs and get purposefully drunk in order to get laid - because they figure it's more fucking fun that way. For someone to come in and say "no honey, you can't go have sex willingly because you nee…

Not sure why you're getting downvoted, but it's not doing MRAs any favors to deny that that happens sometimes: that when a woman turns down an innocuous advance (like asking how she's doing) that she'll then get called names or something. I've had it happen to me a number of times over the years. It happens and it's not cool. I'm just gonna go on a limb and guess that the downvotes are coming from the idea that men are sometimes/many times plain assumed to react in such negative ways to a refusa…

Well I mean it's certianly possible that she does get triggered, and that's too bad if she's been through some bad situation in the past. A situation with a loud obnoxious group of men approaching you (even with no intent to harm), could unfortunately feel threatening to many a woman, not just those with a victim complex. But I think if a woman does "get triggered" by situations that actually show no imminent danger, she needs to be aware of that herself, and not project it. Basically, there's t…

Annoying how she keeps claiming that those men made her feel things. No lady, you chose to feel that way. If some random dude decided to (try to) shake my hand, I'd feel slightly uncomfortable at best but I probably wouldn't have a fit and start shaking. I could choose to bring up all the nightmare images of imminent gang rape, but hey, I'd just rather not.

Happy to see that. I see people basically lynching her for not mentioning women abusers, but these kinds of changes take time. When our whole culture is screaming "child molesters are men", it's rather easy for any individual to forget that there are women too, even if when it's pointed to them, it's clear that of course it's not just men.

Some people actually do have mania as a side effect of some mood altering medications, and the mania goes away never to return once they get off that medication. I know somebody like that. Their mania never came back, it's been 10 years now.
/r/MensRights23/11/14 01:21 PM

The article says she had mania. It would seem they blamed her behavior on the mania, not on just "depression". Not saying that having mania is any kind of a reason to let her off the hook, but yeah, there's a difference, as mania is characterized by, among other things, reckless actions.

Regarding the shirtstorm, MANY adult people (men and women) have this idea that they have some god-given right to not be offended. So it becomes "I am offended, therefore we should ban that shirt!" (for example). And then people jump on the bandwagon: "Now that I think about it, that shirt is kind of sexist, and I'm also offended! Offensive things should not exist, so yeah let's ban the hell out of that shirt!" And they don't realize the consequences of banning everything that offends anyone. Th…

The thing is, a lot of people who identify as "feminist" (but aren't really involved in any activism so only get the "view from the outside") don't really have any idea that it's the extreme feminists who are basically taking over and being the loudest voices out there and attempting to represent all women. The result is that reasonable people like me, who thought we were feminists (because we thought it means being for gender equality because that's what they teach at school etc), don't actuall…

Yep, indeed. Women's clothing is more easily scrutinized because they are allowed more variation in the way they dress in the settings where the only (or nearly so) acceptable dress code for men is a suit (and maybe tie). There might be other reasons too, but that's a pretty obvious one to me.

I want a "girls" version of the shirt. You know, with pictures of buff half naked men in risque positions. It would be funny to see the outrage at how horribly sexist my shirt is. (/s of course. I know nobody would even see the connection/double standard) EDIT: I'm a female. So you know, role reversal.
/r/MensRights17/11/14 12:50 PM

I'm really confused about how wearing the same thing every day has anything to do with sexism? It's the whole idea that if a woman did the same, and wore the same suit for a year straight through, she would be mocked to hell for doing that. Women's clothing is just scrutinized more in the media.

Anyone else find it extremely funny that wearing a blaring hawaiian shirt a'la shirtstorm is called sexist by the likes of the author, and so is a plain gray t-shirt. You guys, you just can't win with this logic! :D Oh wait, plain button-up shirts with jackets will do, as long as you make that tie REAL tight. Because you know, that's the ONLY way for men to look professional. /s

Ridiculous that you got downvoted for that. I mean, it looked like they were following her. That's not cool, that's threatening. But yeah, she shouldn't have hit anybody, naturally, as you said. ... there are even some super-unicorn-rare people that identify as both feminist And mra. (I met one. Was confused for a while. But people are diverse so. Maybe not all that surprising.) If I were 'active', I'd say I'm technically both, although considering how both words seem to have such negative reputations (depending on who you ask), I'm reluctant to actually apply the labels themselves to myself. I'm a female (and don't care whether I am called a feminist or not) and I've been reading the news about the subway incident (with the white guy and the black woman) popping up and have been so annoyed to see how the headline/title almost always says "man hits woman" (or the like). I mean COME ON MEDIA, she fucking hit him first, and even started the whole argument! She acted like a total fucktard, and all we are hearing about is how the poor girl got attacked by the big bad guy.

Interesting thought. It makes me think of Japan though, where it's socially acceptable to get drunk as hell, whether you are a man or a woman. But they aren't a shining example of gender equality.

What is the sticker about? Does it say anything? I can't see from the image. I wouldn't jump the gun and say it's obviously about a man being subjugated by a woman (although of course I wouldn't rule that out either).
