Tried to use it as evidence but was told by the judge I couldn't use it for evidence because of the afformentioned reasons and he even cited presidence

In California, it has to be on the recording that you are recording them and have their consent or it's not admissible as evidence. Learned this the hard way when I got divorced and me ex's bf told me if I didn't leave the house they would file rape and abuse charges. Got it all on an audio recording but couldn't use for the above mentioned.

In the state of California in the US, it is illegal to record even a conversation without their consent first.
