A girl most likely wouldn't do that because there is a different social identity for her. She needs to give the illusion to you and her female peers that she isn't easy to sleep with so they don't think she's a whore, and in order to save face in case you reject her advances. i think that shows a bit of insecurity by hiding your intention. To me, cutting to the chase would seem more attractive because your confident enough to go for what you want. But if that's what works for you, then power to you man.

I think what's even more important is listening. I used to just start conversations with random people that didn't go anywhere because I wasn't really listening, so I freeze up and it gets awkward. I know this seems obvious, but actively listening is the only way you'll get a back-and-forth, replying to what someone says without missing a beat, and being even more smooth than you already are.
